  • This was the Ultimate Steak Experience. I review Chicago Steak Company's USDA Prime Dry Aged Ribeye. This is one of the best steaks that I have ever eaten. The flavor, texture, and juiciness of this steak was amazing.

    Like your HONESTY Troy...Some folks have no idea how much time and effort it takes to produce these videos and the fact you removed it means a lot for your character. Actually, we had to reject a product review yesterday since we did not like the taste nor the cooking instructions they had on the packaging... We'd rather not do a review at all than try to get sales for something that is not a good product.

    Troy....you need an assistant. I am qualified at eating large amounts of steak and then producing accurate reports on the consumed beef. I just bought 3 bags from UMAI....can't wait to try.

      @TROYCOOKS  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Larry, the Prime dry aged was exactly how you described it to me after eating those Tomahawk steaks. It was a truly amazing experience. That aroma the steak gives off from being dry aged is off the hook bro!!! And you get that flavor infused into the meat when eating it. Totally amazing. I'm very satisfied with Chicago Steak Co.

  • @MrMikeChain
    @MrMikeChain 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    The marbling has nothing to do with the wet or dry process. It simply comes from the beef itself.

    • @pokegaiyui
      @pokegaiyui 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yup - one can argue though from post product that a dry age steak would show more marbling due to lower moisture in the meat thus the marbling is more apparent due to the meat itself shrinking. Maybe he was referring to that? But overall I agree, majority of the marbling would come from the meat prior to the kill.

      I ordered the top of the line Dan. I got 4 22oz USDA Prime Dry Aged Bone-In Ribeyes for $250. So, per steak it is about $62 which is close to what you'd pay for this steak in a world class steak house. Give them a shot Dan. You will think you've died and gone to heaven. Thanks brother!!!

    In the last vid you said that the CSC steak was shipped frozen and the Lobel's was shipped fresh with gel packs.
    Was the dry aged CSC ribeye frozen this time as well?

    • @TROYCOOKS
      @TROYCOOKS  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, all CSC steaks are flash frozen and shipped on dry ice. That didn't seem to harm the flavor, texture, or tenderness of this steak though. Of course, fresh is always best in my opinion, but I will be ordering more of these steaks from CSC. They are top notch!! Thanks for watching Mike!

      Hi Theresa, it may even be better if cooked in a cast iron skillet because it will develop a nice crust on the outside which will add even more flavor. Go for it and let me know how you like it! Thanks for watching!

    Tip: Cook ribeyes medium rare. It should be pink with no grey in the cut. also use fresh thyme stem and leaves on the side of the steak to get the flavor of the thyme on the steak. Baste your steak with butter just before its done. Also dry aged is superior to wet age process. Also if you want to source prime grade beef locally, call up your nearest Sysco distribution center. Ask them to give you a name of a butcher they sell prime beef to, nearest you. When your order prime ribeye steak it pays to order the whole rib cut, and ask the butcher to vacuum pack each steak for you so you can freeze them.

    T-Roy, which do you prefer, Lobels from N.Y. or Chicago Steak House?

    • @TROYCOOKS
      @TROYCOOKS  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Preston Gainer Hi Preston, that is a great question! I prefer Lobel's over Chicago Steak house which is why I use Lobel's meats in my videos. CSH ships their meats frozen and I believe that changes the texture of the meat whereas Lobel's always ships meat fresh. The Lobel's meat is much more tender also. Also, I found the the customer service at Lobel's is much better to deal with. CSH beef does taste pretty good, but I have to give the edge to Lobel's.

      Great question! When I dry aged my own steak, I used Choice and used the Umai bags. Chicago Steak Co. uses the old fashioned artisan style of dry aging where they leave the meat on racks in a temp/humidity controlled room. There is a lot of difference in the resulting steaks. My own dry aged steaks did not come close to the aroma, texture, tenderness, and flavor of the CSC Prime steak. I would dry age my own again because it's cheaper, but sometimes you just have to pull out all the strings and get a true dry aged Prime steak to see how it really tastes. This was one of the best, if not the best, Ribeye I have ever eaten. Thanks for the question and I appreciate you watching!

    Great video, thanks. Most of us probably can't afford to eat the high end dry aged, bone-in rib eyes every weekend or even 4-5 times per year...in the real world, that steak from your local butcher is mighty fine and is affordable once a month. Guess I'd rather have a very good steak 12x a year than top end 2-3 times per year. At some point, quality/value is relative. By the way, that local steak, with your ability at the grill, is just fine for me!

    You need a farmer friend. I just had a 12 month old grass fed steer butchered. $2.70 per lb with a $0.50 per lb butcher fee. 664 lbs for $2000 pretty much. Much better than paying retail if you have the freezer space. Plus I get to meet my cow and let my Australian cattle dog chase him around a bit before he feeds my family for a year. I saw you paid $122 for a nice looking set of steaks. I cringed because there are cheaper with better quality than choice options. Keep up the videos budski. I enjoy them

    t-roy so this is better than lobels dry age? looking to load up on some steaks man.

    • @TROYCOOKS
      @TROYCOOKS  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey WangDiddy!!! The CSC steaks are really good, but they are not quite as tender as Lobel's. Also CSC freezes their steaks and Lobel's always ships fresh steaks. The flavors are very similar, but I truly must give the edge to Lobel's for tenderness and never being frozen. Frozen steaks always seem to be a little more tougher from my taste tests. Regardless of which you choose, both are leaps and bounds better than your local grocery or butcher. I hope that helps and thanks for the question. I appreciate you watching!!

      T-ROY COOKS thanks man. Looking to score some good steaks for my dad and I. Do you recommend any good steak seasoning?

    • @TROYCOOKS
      @TROYCOOKS  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      WangDiddy82 Personally, for a good quality steak, I like to keep it simple using just sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Lobel's does have some steak seasoning and so do most other meat places, but I have not tried Lobel's yet. At my local grocery I like to buy and use a steak seasoning by a company called Red Monkey. In fact, all of the Red Monkey brand rubs are excellent.
      www.redmonkeyfoods.com/Savory-Steak-Seasoning-p/98033-01.htm
      For steaks, I sometimes also use another steak seasoning I find locally in my grocery. Here is the link for it: www.robertrothschild.com/product/product-details.aspx?prodid=58&name=Chop+House+Steak+%26+Beef+Rub

    Been thinking about doing some dry aging at home. Looks fairly simple but you need a little fridge that is only for that process. Some salt and a stainless rack and your good. Simple DIY for 21 days and mmm mmm tasty. No stupid special kit needed. I talk too much but I think this is a doable thing for us ordinary folk. I bet Karen ate my steak too didn't she? ROFL

      Have you seen my dry aged ribeye video? I did a full rack a couple years ago and it was terrific, but mine didn't have the flavors that this Chicago Steak had. It was truly the Ultimate Steak Experience.

      Hey Russ, the Chicago steak was killer dude. It had so much more flavor and tenderness than my local butcher's Prime. Get you a steak for your birthday. You will be amazed brother!! Thanks for watching!

      You are in for a real treat John. I hope you got the Prime dry aged. The wet aged Choice is excellent, but does not have near the tenderness and flavor of the Prime. I appreciate you watching and mentioning my channel to them. Let me know what you think after you eat one! And let me know what you think of that awesome smell of the steak!

    T-Roy, not sure if youve ever tried debragga or pat lafrieda but they have some seriously nice steaks for some of the best prices from anywhere. Check it out man!
    about the steak in your video, (this is just my general observation) most places usually has low standards for the "prime" label so even though some steak could be labeled as prime, they could very well be choice or lower...
    *note*
    (debragga has some really nice miyazaki A5 wagyu beef and theyre amazing www.debragga.com/ )
    (pat lafrieda, if you didnt know, are the main source of many steakhouses in NYC and theyre known for their aged prime beef shop.lafrieda.com/ )

      @TROYCOOKS  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there, I have tried Pat's steaks, but they freeze their beef which I don't care for. And DeBragga sells Angus which I also don't really care for. My favorite online beef is from Lobel's of NY. I appreciate the info and thanks for watching!

    • @jks15jkhaha2
      @jks15jkhaha2 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Curious, why do you dislike frozen beef? Also, Debragga has a wide selection or premium beef like Miyazaki from Japan and Australian Wagyu, if I remember correctly! In other words, they have beef thats better than Prime!

    • @TROYCOOKS
      @TROYCOOKS  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll check out Debragga's full site and see what they've got. I have tasted fresh vs frozen steaks and just prefer the flavor and texture of fresh.

    T-Roy. Love your videos. But you know what...if you are going to compare steaks, they need to be cooked the same! Your "local butcher" steak was cooked more than the "other" steak, which was almost raw. Watch your clip at 4:25. Not really a true comparison! Sorry bud, but that is my opinion. I had to get it out!

    • @TROYCOOKS
      @TROYCOOKS  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Nick Matharu No worries Nick. As I'm sure you know, no two pieces of meat cook the same. I appreciate your input and thank you very much for watching!!

    Also... the term prime refers to the grade given to the animal by the usda when the animal is inspected. Less than 2% of beef is prime. And once an animal is graded say choice, no amount of aging will make it "more prime" as you refer to the wet aged. Simply put, comparing a wet aged choice steak to a dry aged prime steak is like racing a Ferrari and a Kia and expecting the Kia to perform. It will never be a Ferrari. Just an unfair comparison in my opinion. Not hating just saying.

      I just felt bad that I had misrepresented what I thought were Prime Dry aged steak from them. I try to be honest with my subs about the products that I show on my videos. It was totally my fault for clicking on the wrong steaks when I ordered them. I paid for them out of my own pocket. Thanks for your input Spanky. I wouldn't want to lead my followers to buy something that I wouldn't buy myself. These Prime Dry aged steaks were terrific and I would happily order them again for a special occasion. I appreciate you watching and thank you for your comment.
