Excellent presentation Cam, very close to what I currently do and got a few ideas to experiment on after the new year .... some drastic changes will happen then and my sound will be re approached from scratch .... keep the good job going ... I really enjoy your videos :)
And another observation: On Reacomp he has auto make up + limit output engaged. This creates nice flat-topped sausages - the exact opposite of the "natural" and "organic" drums he's allegedly after. These drums are loudness war limited to the roof. Not saying they are bad sounding in the context, not at all! But they are anything other than "natural" sounding drums.
Drum compressor has 91.6 ms attack, meaning it lets the biggest parts of any snare and kick hit through untouched. Release is at strangely low 14 ms. This setting then gets carelessly copy-pasted to every single drum channel/bus without close listening it seems. Really? Could it be that attack and release got mixed up here?
