      Be careful when you are in China. It is the scam capital of the world. In every cash transaction, watch out for fake bills in return. My colleagues were cheated by a taxi driver who took their 100 rmb bill, switched with a fake bill, then said theirs was fake and demanded another. He did this three times.

      Not really. Only the terracotta warriors are 2000 years old - there's nothing else in Xi'an that's that old. And Xi'an doesn't have many ancient buildings in the city. It's not an attractive city for history buffs.

    • @kevinagouti
      @kevinagouti 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      @@lingfengge6666 Besides the Terracotta Warriors, there is the Banpo matriarchal clan, and even further back, the Lantian ancients. Of course, too many ancient relics no longer exist. But to understand the rich history of a country or a civilization, it is not just about what you can see now. More importantly, it is the way that the cultural and historical heritage of thousands of years has brought to this city and the people living there, and the subtle historical accumulation, which is not available in other cities. So let me ask you a question, except for Xi'an, the ancient capital of 13 dynasties in ancient China, which other city is more suitable for understanding the culture and history of China at its most glorious time?

    Enjoy watching your video, thanks for showing it with so much love! I can only imagine how many steps you guys did back and forth on the Great Wall to get the result..... and still you both look pretty good shape despite the effort. I've been there 3 times in the past 20 years, everytime it was exhausting just to make one round trip without much talking, so I know the hardship of doing this and looking good at the same time. VERY IMPRESSIVE SHOW!
    This section of the wall was built roughly ~600 years ago. The part that were built 2000+ years are at western China (Gansu province), they were built on terracotta or thick sand or wood (use whatever material was available at the surrounding). Those have fallen down and only left a footprint.

I think there is no one that dedicated to spend ~3 years of their life to do that but that would be an idea though 😁 I am also thinking about the logistic of food, are you trekking on the wall like as a tourist or somewhere under it but not on the wall because how much would you pay for 3 years or tickets to trek on the wall, etc.

    This part of the Great Wall is beautiful but does not have the genuine historical significance of some other parts of this great defensive military structure.
    You can visit this part of the Great Wall: 山西代縣雁門關
    I think translated to English as "Yan Men Guan"
    If there is a structural monument to represent the struggles of the Chinese people and culture, it is this part of the Great Wall, "雁門關" Yan Men Guan."
    Please note that I am not sure of the English title translation.

    Beijing (literally north capital) became the capital in 1421 under the order of Ming dynasty's third Emperor Zhu Di, also known as Yongle, before that the capital was in Nanjing (literally south capital), Zhu di built the capital in Beijing closely to the great wall to defend the northern border, where the mongols were frequently invading and causing havoc in the north. Zhu Di was famously quoted "The Emperor shall defend the border himself"

    I had a Chinese friend in Australia who also encountered this problem. The hotel could not accommodate him. The reason was: the Chinese government believed that only hotels that met certain comfort standards could accommodate foreign guests. Therefore, hotels needed to obtain certification, just like the standards of 3-star and 4-star hotels.
