I don't understand why such intelligent people (and others, like Peter van Inwagen), are so easily persuaded by mereological nihilism; which is patent nonsense. Looking really closely at something, and realizing that it's composed of lots of other things, doesn't take away from the fact that it is a singular thing with properties which only exist at its level.
