    I probably knew around 70% of this, but your presentation is so clear and logically arranged that it held my attention and made it easy to pick up the little gems that I didn't know. Thanks.

      Perfect, that was the plan! I've been getting feedback that I should explain some of the basics as well... not always just the crazy animations and effects... so this is the first "Camtasia Basics" video in a series that will likely have several more :-)

    Although I knew many of the items you covered there were some that I didn't know about it and the way you present makes things clear. Well worth my time watching. Thank you for making this video. One of these days I need to consider getting a stream deck for several software opportunities. Well done - watched the entire video.

    Your tutorials are always very helpful, Rob.
    I heard back from Camtasia on one of their videos when I asked about 2024.
    They said I could purchase 2023 now and be eligible for 2025 when it comes out due to the Maintenance plan, but I still can't wrap my head around that, as I thought the Maintenance Plan was only for the NEXT upgrade.
    Thus why I plan on waiting until next Tuesday, although I wish I could buy it now! LOL.

    • @RobtheMaritimer
      @RobtheMaritimer  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I asked them about that just today... I think the reason is because there's a 30 day window around the maintenance plan... so if they upgrade Camtasia to 2024 within 30 days of you purchasing it (with the maintenance plan) you'd get the 2024 version when it's available... and then also the 2025 version. That's my understanding. But we are just a few days away from 2024 so I suppose there's no harm in waiting a few more days :-)

    Rob, I’ve used Camtasia for several years and never knew half of what you shared about the timeline. Your videos are incredibly helpful and organized. Okay, I have a few questions about the video. The majority of my videos are not livestream. I like the box where you are narrating this video. How do you get the black background? Secondly, can the Elgato Switchbox be used to switch cameras and capture the recording for editing from say 3 video camera feeds?

    • @RobtheMaritimer
      @RobtheMaritimer  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for the kind words and I'm glad the videos are helping you! the "black background" behind me in this video is actually the screen recording of Camtasia. I used the "Background Remover" effect in Camtasia (in the Visual Effects tab) to remove my background... and I did this during editing, after I recorded the video... so it wasn't "live". As for the Elgato Streamdeck... you can't use it by itself to switch camera views, but when used with software like Ecamm Live or OBS Studio, you can use the Streamdeck to "switch scenes" within those softwares. I do that during my live streams all the time. I switch between camera views, screen/monitor views, etc. But if you want to switch between cameras WITHOUT using software like that, like say you want to do that switching while recording in Camtasia, then you can use an ATEM Mini Pro which is an HDMI video switcher that I use, and you can toggle between up to 4 cameras that plug into it directly.... then your Camtasia would recognize the ATEM Mini Pro as the camera input instead of your web cam. Does that make sense? I hope that helps :-)

      @@RobtheMaritimer - Yes this does make sense. I do own an ATEM Mini, not the Pro. Candidly, I have not used it because I didn’t know how to use the Mini in a non live situation. I don’t script videos before hand although that could change. I do record and store on my IOS devices then upload the best videos for editing. Since I read your comment, I see that ATEM now has a camera app and I can store the videos directly on my devices or to DaVinci Resolve or Cloud. Are you saying I can capture the videos from one of the 4 HDMI starting the recording from Camtasia rather than my ios device?

    • @RobtheMaritimer
      @RobtheMaritimer  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes you can use your ATEM Mini and don't need the Pro version. Think of your ATEM Mini as a webcam. It plugs into your computer like a webcam, via USB. Once you plug 1 camera into the ATEM Mini, your computer recognizes it as a webcam... and then when you open Camtasia and start the recorder, "Blackmagic" should be one of your "camera" options (if not the only one)... select that, as it's your ATEM Mini. Then, Camtasia will record whatever you have plugged into your ATEM Mini. If you have multiple cameras plugged into it, then you can switch between them using the big 1, 2, 3, 4 numbers on the ATEM Mini... and you can do this while you're recording in Camtasia if you want. Of course, the cameras you plug into the ATEM Mini must have HDMI output connections as they must plug in to the ATEM Mini with an HDMI cable. But the simplest way to think about it is to think about the ATEM Mini switcher as a webcam itself. I hope that helps :-)

    Useful video and (as always) of the highest quality standard💪🏻.
    Actually I expected to see (but I hope you will in a future video) the strategies to adopt to simplify the classic operations of cutting a speech (in ScreenFlow, for example, it is a continuous pressing of "I", "O" and cutting , and also in FinalCut if I remember correctly there are two similar buttons to select the beginning and end of the piece to cut, like "eeeeehmmm", pauses of silence or other).
    Here it seems to me you can only do "split" but the operation is not very fast because then, when you cut, there is a void and you have to manually move everything to the left (unless you use the red and green arrow cursors in the upper part of the time indicator, which however are impractical to handle because they require manual skills for each cut).
    In short, how do you do it?😜😜😜

    • @RobtheMaritimer
      @RobtheMaritimer  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      One way to more quickly cut out a section of a clip is to "S" to split, then "S" to split the second location, then "right click" that section you want to cut out, and select "Ripple Delete". That deletes it and stitches the two wanted sections together. However, that's not how I do it... and it would make it easier if there was a shortcut keystroke for ripple delete :-)
      What I do is more cumbersome but I've gotten so used to it.... I use S to split, then S to split the second location, highlight and delete the unwanted section, then with the playhead at the beginning of the second section I want to keep, I gram the playhead at the top while holding SHIFT down, and drag it back to close the gap. Does that make sense? If not, I can demonstrate in a live stream :-)

    Sir, how to change 2k webcam to 1080p video in Camtasia 23

    • @RobtheMaritimer
      @RobtheMaritimer  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not sure I understand your question. If you want to change your webcam settings, that's not something you do in Camtasia... you probably have software for your webcam where you do that. Having said that, if you choose your webcam in the Camtasia recorder and it captures a video that's too large, you can scale it down in Camtasia in editing. Does that help?
