Got a 1013 last year. Was sat up practically unused for years. Rubbed a bit of surface corrosion off and she's perfect! Glad to have this video for future reference though.
My lidl. Cordless drill melted its trigger handle if you want it free for a teardown? She was used for drilling, mixing tile adhesive, concrete and then to drive 5*100 screws into a shed all day long
Great work Dean. Brilliant saw, I have mine 22 years and still use it at work for all my second fixing. I’d love to know what you did when you cut the bar/pin that goes under the saw. Cause I just replaced mine and know it’s a very expensive piece of metal. I was waiting for this video for a while, I had seen it on the workshop floor.
Yea, that lock bar went to crazy money. They use to cost around 5 euro not makita want something like 80 euro for them. I just cut a wedge of the back so it can pivot a little further in and lock the table again. Beats paying makitas 💰
Dean excellent video master when it comes to power drills just one question if you don't mind answering I've just bought a refurbished dcd709 dewalt drill when I shake the drill I get a sort of rattling noise at the back of drill is that normal thanks
@deandohertygreaser yeah it's a slight rattle from inside when I shake the drill and it's from inside at the back plus the chuck is tightly secured ?? Thanks
I assume the plastic where the screws go in the handle was broken ? Since you didnt replace the safety pin and I'm fairly sure you have those in stock being it one of the Makita saws flaws.
No, the customer removed the safety switch lever inside and did not want it replaced again. Fairly common request, not everyone like the removable safety button
Ah I see ... NL is pretty harsh when it comes to safety regulations for machines being used in a professional environment. If something bad happens and safety switches or things like a protective cover are deliberately disabled insurance will give you hard time covering costs.

Morning Dean, I have the same saw, stopped working yesterday after 20 years, I hope it's just the trigger switch. Great tutorial, very informative
Thanks 👍, brushes, lead and switch is the normal culprits
@deandohertygreaser thank you Dean
@@deandohertygreaser thank you Dean
Just got 1 today. Great video. SAVED.
Great acoustic improvement! Thanks for sharing, all the best
I've got one. Its a brilliant saw.
Good one Dean!!! Thanks!!!
Dean Doherty !!!!!!!
Thanks for adding some ‘life’ back into this great old saw! What a shame the condition she was in.
A saw worth a restoration.
Indeed!
Build to last and repairable.
How an expensive powertool needs to be.
I dread the day mine dies, had it probably 20 years too, great saw and still in regular use!
How to restore a saw with just one hand awesome 😂❤

I like the videos, but it is not the same without Dean's running commentary.
That's her!

It's probably more coming from the chuck. The Back is a sealed motor unit. Not much ti rattle in it
It's a slight rattle when I shake the drill and it's coming from inside at the back plus the chuck is tightly secured ? Thanks
