I had one of these in a machine shop I worked in, I replaced the gears many times. Used it to rough cut aluminum bar stock 2x4” stacked so 4x4” bar. Rough cut great!
I won a DW-704 compound Notre sawr. Runs great. Last year I spent 2 hours getting it it cut straight again. Now perfect 45s and 90 again. Thanks for your videos Dean. Great job!!!
i use graphitepowder of a carpenterpencil to "lube" the guiderails... once a year... chop to very find powder with a utility blade and rub it on.. it does make it smoother since i have a place on the guiderails where it "binds"
I use a mostly Makita tools in our construction company. I’ve happily had 3 makita corded miter saws over the past 25 years. I invested almost 1000USD 2 years ago to get a 12” Makita 18v X 2 saw, amazing saw…… besides being 1/4” out on a 10” cut since it came out of the box lol! Wish it was more adjustable haha
I have the exact same saw, I use it for 2nd fix. Rule no. 1, throw the Makita blade away, unless you want to do 1st fix. Buy a fine toothed blade. Then make zero clearance guides. I spent a little while making sure it cuts 90 degrees. The cuts are clean and accurate.
I think if they're set up on a bench in a workshop and don't have a life of in and out of a van to job sites, they're more likely to stay accurate once set up. I have the 12" version in my workshop. Brilliant tool.
I coat my rails with silicone spray, never caused me any issues at all (i dont saturate them) Definitely keeps them sliding far better than if they were dry and I've never noticed it causing excessive gunking of dust.
And i would have been one of those ppl who would have put oil on those sliders as well. Damn, Good job i saw this video for sure. Very interesting video, Thank's Dean. I also never thought of that either, The fact that this particular saw is classed as a work horse rather than a producer of precise cuts. if you get me. learn something new :)
is that good or bad that you had air compression at 18:45? does it push it away from the other gear? or do the bolts that holds that part in make everything align?
I was looking at the blade on this unit. The side walls looked rather cut up, which suggests it has been used to cut a lot of aluminium extrusions, which are actually quite hard.
Great video, as always. Can I suggest getting a proper tripod to attach your phone/camera to when you're not at your usual bench? Or rig the movable phone/camera arm up to a tripod so your videos don't wobble when you're working on tools?
Might not have to, flexispot might be sponsoring a video for thier pro standing desk. If so that thing is solid and heavy duty, so there won't be anyone wobble if they send one in. 🤞
Hi Dean, great repair job, not sure this saw was made for cutting metal, quick question, in one of you previous videos, you used a pair of Wera flat jawed grips, do you know what the product number is, as i cannot seem to find them on Wera's website ? cannot wait to see the next fix.
I came upon you channel looking to find a way for transporting a mitersaw by air. Will removing the head from the flat bed cause any alignment issues? Looking to pack it in two bags.
no, if you remove the whole head with the rails from be base it should be fine. A lot of saw are actually packaged like this. Just make sure the rails are packaged well.
Nice one again! Maybe in another video show us how to align these. It's not that hard but might come in handy for people that want to align their own mitre saw. I did notice there seem to be some difference in brush numbers compaired to NL; we use CB153 for these, don't think I've ever heard of CB500.
Anyone know where i could buy Parts for Milwaukee Force Logic crimper model M18ONEHCC? Damned if i can fine anything local in Australia. Mines not completing full crimp.
I have a cheapie Einhell/Ozito sliding compound mitre saw and I put WD40 on the rails because the air at my place unfortunately causes a lot of corrosion. Must go and pull the rails apart and see if I have caused a bigger problem. The saw is a piece of crap IMO (I know it's an extreme budget brand) but it's the only Einhell/Ozito tool I regret purchasing. Actually the saw itself is alright it's trying to set accurate mitre angles and returning it to zero that's the massive pain for me. Sorry, whinge [/off]. *Thank you* for the video Dean. 👍
The fancy newest battery ones with the runners in a vertical position don’t even cut straight. Design fault with the runners not being lined up with each other causes the cut to bend as you slide it back…. unacceptable. brand new out the box and it’s wonky. terrible.
I wont even touch my rails with my salty fingers or wipe them. Also that saw is a cheap garbage saw, if you offered me one for free to use as a boat anchor i would say no thanks
I’d say it’s a great job to have? Little workshop with all the gear and of course enough knowledge to be able to fix these machines quickly!👏🇮🇪
I had one of these in a machine shop I worked in, I replaced the gears many times.

Rough cut great!
Thanks Dean!!! I've always just wiped the rails off and sprayed a little WD 40 ,both my saws are over 30 years old and I never had a problem.
They may be bushes or a different set up then those bearings
Maybe a dry lubricant would be best. Like graphite
@@Utuber-x44 I use myself some silicone spray work great for me
@@Utuber-x44 good idea!!
I had a little chuckle when you started her up and heard those gears grinding. Another quality repair video Dean.
After watching this video i feel like servicing my Makita mitre saw on the weekend. Dean explained very clearly how to DIY . Thanks dean
Well done Dean that’s a great tip no oil on rails it makes sense Thanks

Sounds like you’ve had a cold in the last video as well as this one hopefully you’re on the mend . Great chopsaw tutorial thanks
Another excellent repair

Great honesty on the pricing at the end.
See you on the next one Dean
Good Man Yourself Deano 🙏🙏👍👍🍀🍀
Dean its great watching you explain things as you work. Top videos mate. wish you the very best
My Brother Dean ya did it again...customer should be pleased he doesn't have to buy a new expensive saw. 👍
Well Dean another great video I have DWS 780 mitre saw and it was getting stiff to slide so after seeing that video I fix it keep the videos coming 👍
Great work as always Dean 🦘
Great video Dean

I did the same and it worked great neither had any issues of clogging since it dried after a little bit
Thank you

Great job dean 👌
Once again, good job, Dean! What could be wrong with that!
Great vid Dean, is the older model Ls1013 a better saw?

@@deandohertygreaserI always appreciate how you love quality! I'm the same way.
don't forget the cable clamp and the brush caps ;o) :P
5:35 cable holder unscrewed, but never screwed in again. Otherwise well done!
What is the best jobsite miter saw in youre opinion?
So this saw has problems from Makita or there is a design flaw on this type of saw for many brands?
Would something like dry lube work on those linear bearings? Since its meant for moreso dirty environments
maybe, iv never tried it.
Graphite works fairly well. Go scribble on the bars with a soft pencil before putting it away. Doesn't gum up .

Nice
Any way to know when buying a mitre saw out of somewhere like screwfix whether its a rought or precision saw?

I am missing the turning knob which secures the angle bar...
oh god i saw the thumbnail and my heart sank.. exactly what i have... did i wd40 the running arms... 😢
@8:16 shinny 😂 in this case is BAD .
I would think the worm gear is harder than the bevel gear .
Bevel gear is cheaper than the armature .

"This is not the best. " What do you think are the best compound miter saws?
That blade looks like they've been burning it through some aluminum as fast as they could go. No wonder the gears are toothless.
Sir which brand bearings you use in your daily powertools repair ?
FAG mainly
@@deandohertygreaserI'm amazed TH-cam even allows you to use that in the comments 😂 the censorship has gone over the top recently
Bronze bushing AKA Oilite. Use oil on them. Not Grease!
Tell the guy to spend 250 and get the evolution metal chop saw! 😅
"Makita" means "True North".

Do they use electrical specific brands in australia like klauke? Its crazy how a 3k euros machine doesn't even has a parts list online.
@zaxmaxlax yeah no klauke in AU yeah annoying especially at that price was $4000 in Australia

Hi Dean. What is your recommendation for the best 12” miter with this same setup that moves front and back?
I have this same mitre saw and I thought it was great to use and accurate but dean is saying it's garbage 🗑 😕
