No kidding. I'm not a stickler; don't use a guard on my table saw for example, but it's too easy to see in my mind's eye how horribly south running a chop saw with no guard could easily go.
That saw could have been cleaned up without all that drama 🤣. Such stupid fools in this world! Look how clean it came with some soap and water, acting like he did something spectacular
What amazes me about these types of restorations is the re-assembly. How do you remember where all the different parts go, and all the screws, washers, clasps, springs, nuts, etc.?

Excellent restoration! - One thing to remember and not shown is "Alignment" of the tool. Making sure the angle stops are set to true vertical 90°, Miter center 90° and 45° either side. Also, the back fence must be aligned 90° to the blade. Otherwise your tool will build in progressive errors in your woodworking project.
You are a true fixer of things. Shame there was no replacement for the shield. However... also knowing how to recreate the decals, from scratch, is another world entirely. Graphics, as well as mechanically inclined? Damn... You're good.
I always love to watch restoration videos. It's such an art to bring back to life the machines and tools that our countries were built with. Regrettably, the background noises in this one were too distracting for me. Had to play it on mute.

I like that this was done with relatively basic tools! No 3D printer or laser etcher, lots of ingenuity and elbow grease. It didn't seem fake to me (I admit I am no expert) the amount of grease and rust seemed realistic. I'm sure there were things omitted, but I enjoyed it!
You missed putting the clear plastic guard back on to stop any user from touching the spinning blade as the saw rises up, probably one of the most important safety guards!
Looks like the original guard was pretty broken. But I would not personally be willing to run the saw with a blade installed without getting and installing a replacement guard.
Nice restoration. Do you plan to add the sawblade guard again? I just get goosebumps watching the 'naked' blade go round when it's in the up position. Otherwise well done 🙂

I love it, tear down and muck ooooh. Best part of any job for me is getting the grime and grease cleaned up after the tear down. Also excellent restoration through out.
Looks great, however you have replaced the original negative rake blade with a positive rake blade. You should really only use negative rake blades on chop saws as a positive rake can pull the wood up off the deck and result in a jam or worse. Positive rake blades are for table saws and circular saws.
As someone who worked in the tool repair industry for 30 years, I commend you on your ability. However, you should tell people how many hours of labor you put into this repair, along with the cost of all of the replacement parts you installed. A new saw would be less expensive.

You forgot to replace part of the blade guard during the rebuild. As it is at the present time there is no protection to prevent serious injury if your hand comes anywhere near the blade while is still spinning down. It would also be nice if this model had a blade brake when you release the trigger.
I have seen someone cut half their hand off because they decided to remove the guard. I hope if this saw is being used that it gets a proper guard replacement.

You need to make a new clear plastic blade guard before using this tool. I’ve taken verbatim testimony from far too many people who cut off their fingers because they removed that clear plastic blade guard because they thought it was a hindrance or unnecessary, and nothing could be further from the truth. Keep up the good work! And make a new blade guard!

Wow ! 😮 Now that's what I call Old School using Scrap Metal in most people's opinion an you saw something. You put your mind to work an made that Wonderful Knife, then you took more scrap metal and make the hilts . Then you found the right scrap piece of wood made the handle. I love to watch videos where the restoration project! Then it is completely disassembled down to the last nut and bolt. All the parts are stripped of paint and repainted. New bearing installed on the armature and all the gears. Friend, you do a outstanding job. Glad I found your channel.. I liked and subscribed. Fixing to see what else you have I’d like to watch next.
I'm probably wrong. I honestly know very little about the electric service in countries outside of the USA. But. To me, it looked like the original plug was for a 110v service, and the final was for a 220v service? Where am I wrong? Someone please educate me. Thank you.

Blade guard is essential. Put it on even if it looks dull as it could save you from serious injury.

Great restoration. Probably misunderstanding something but the blade guard does not seem to be nearly big enough!
On the "before" shots you can see bigger plastic cover that was on the metal blade guard. Seems like he didn't found replacement.

My thought too. Great for losing fingers or more. Why even put the guard mechanism back on if not using the guard itself.

I didn’t see him grease the drive gears. Should he have or maybe it wasn’t video’d.
That was broken and new was not available.
