I was diagnosed with Lipedema a few years ago and have been told by dozens of doctors, nothing would work for me. I felt hopeless, helpless and almost gave up on the thought to ever lose weight. But Keto changed my life completely. I lost 30kg so far, Im healthier, mentally stable. Because a lot of doctors dont know shit about nutrition. Im so thankful for everyone who works on spreading the word.
My doctor wrote out your name on a pad and told me to follow you because I have pre diabetes and I don’t know what to eat. You’re an inspiration to doctors.
I had a brain injury and cranial nerve damage from a virus four years ago. I was bedridden for 2 years after. I didn’t start to get well until I went on a ketogenic diet. I’m two years keto now and vastly improved.
I’ve been doing OMAD carnivore for 2 years, I had a medical the other day, the doctor said my blood pressure is like a 17 year old, perfect!! And eat loads of butter, ghee and beef fat
I’m on day 13 and just finishing a 40 hour fast. Thought I’d be starving but it wasn’t bad at all. I’ve got two hours left and I don’t actually feel like eating. Think I’ll wait until I’m hungry.
This info has been around for 30+ years now, with study after study to back it up. WHY do doctors keep beating the "exercise and count calories" drum? I saw my doctor a few months ago for an ear infection and he noticed I'd lost 35 lbs since my last visit, at which time he gave me the old "low fat, low calorie, get more exercise" lecture. He complimented me on "finally" sticking to his advice. When I told him I was doing a LCHF keto diet, he got very defensive and angry and accused me of lying! Then said if I was really following that keto "fad" diet, I'd be dead in a year. BTW, that's what he told me would happen if I didn't lose 30 lbs! Looking for a new MD now...
If we print out info backed by studies, from sources like D Westman, or give them a copy of the more technical book by Phinney & Volek, some physicans can be trained. If they have a closed mind, and are incapable of learning or critical thinking (medical schools in 99% memorization) , then yes, it is time to find a new physician. After all, we hire them as consultants. They do not own us, nor are they our bosses.
It would be better if you kept with your doctor because your example will help educate him. Think it this way, if you change his mind you could very likely save other people's lives that are being poorly treated for diabetes by this doctor. As you continue to see him year after year, you can ask him about what health bio markers are showing you to have a high risk factor? Ask him if his prediction of your early demise was unfounded.
I got my blood test done and my doctor told me how impressed he was with them. Asked what I did to change it, mentioned keto and fasting and he then proceeded to lecture me on how bad it was for me... seconds after complimenting my blood work.
Ketogenic follower here: 8 months into it, no carbs regularly, moderate exercise and intermittent fasting also. Kept muscles and built them actually, so lost/ used my fat, and replaced with muscle. Keeping active helps to improve also the overall "physique". Feeling good every day. Even when eating Carbs, nothing to fear, getting back in to the keto is getting easier and easier. I have done my research, and switched from "vegetarian" to ketogenic.
I'm a "vegetarian" ketogenic, l have not eaten meat for 25 years. Never cared for it. I do bulk up on fats with Kerry gold butter, olive oil and eggs etc....but you can be in ketosis and still be a vegetarian.
About GERD (acid reflux): I was on a daily dose of Omeprazole for several years, as prescribed by my primary care physician. I tried to get off it a few times, but if I stopped taking it for more than about 4 days, the GERD would come back with a vengeance. I started Keto and IF 13 months ago and have taken maybe 5 doses of Omeprazole since then (usually only because I "fell off the wagon" and ate too much bread over a weekend or something). Keto and IF have completely resolved all of my acid reflux. It is a miracle!!!
Yes me too 10 yrs on purple pill now nothing feel great and lost so far 100 lbs looking to do my final 40 but it’s going slow now. 3 yrs keto so far! Keto on my friend!
I've been on the keto/intermittent fasting diet for 14 months and don't see that I ever need to discontinue. When I see, smell or I'm around bread and sweets I feel nothing but disgust for them and pity for the people who crave them. I never have cravings and my GERD has calmed down immensely. Gaining muscle through strength training has proven to be easier to achieve, as well.
@@ChefClary60 If I hadn't told my MD that I was going LCHF he wouldn't have scheduled me for blood tests after 4 months. I'm looking forward to seeing those results.
Great presentation.. what an amazing dr who is so so humble .. the world needs more Dr Westmans .. My life changed because of our Proffessor Tim Noakes who also read the Great Dr Atkins book .. this is true and sincere work by all these great doctors who have the pure interest of the patient .. i hear and feel the passion in Dr Westmans voice .. the fact that we just need to believe and do what Dr Westman is saying .. Page 4 is certainly the way to start .. thank you Dr Westman and Nurse Jackie .. lotsa love from Johannesburg South Africa xxx
Actually, Pof. Tim Noakes read 'The New Atkins for the New You' by Dr. Eric Westman with Dr. Stephen Phinney, MD PhD, an Jeff Volej, PhD. Dr. Noakes had the courage to say he was wrong for promoting high carb diets 'for athletic performance and health', and the grace to apologize. Kudos to Dr. Noakes for helping to spread the good news about nutritional ketosis. He is much loved all around the world.
I am on Vegetarian Low Carb diet since November 2017 after being diagnosed with T2 diabetes. Prior to the diagnoses I had feet that hurt like hell, brain fog and memory lapses several times a day. I thought I had dementia / Alzheimers. When diagnosed my HBa1c test showed blood sugar at 65. I refused medications and did my own research. 5 months latter my blood sugar was down to 49. By June it was down to 40, My latest blood sugar result is HBa1c 36. I have also lost weight ( down to 14 stone from 17 1/2 ). My memory is better and although I still get some brain fog it is not any near as bad. My energy levels are also maintained as well unlike when was on low calorie low fat. Such a shame that most doctors are in denial as are the UK body that rules the NHS, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence.(NICE) My feet still hurt due to nerve damage, but even that is getting better.
I plan to cover Dr. Eric Westman in an upcoming video, in my opinion he has integrity and represents some of the best in patient care when it comes to the keto diet as an intervention.
TB1M1 anything to back this up? What’s the lack of credibility based on? This video undermines where the credibility comes from, so what’s the justification for lack of credibility? Additionally who, apart from a very limited number of medical professionals worldwide (most of whom have been driven to TH-cam to get their message out as the mainstream medical establishment won’t give them a voice and discredits them at every turn), is repeating the “cut the carbs” mantra? My doctor isn’t. No doctors in my practice are. No-one I’ve met at medical school is. No dieticians, endocrinologists, cardiologists, neurologists etc are saying this. I’m not sure what your motivation is but the point you’re trying to make it clear and it’s utterly unfounded.
@@TB1M1 he explaons it all in a document and page 4 is the only things you can eat. Bit I do remember you trolling elsewhere.. Its like you want to do better. With your life but are resisting becaise you think youre smarter. Youre not.
I feel like shit after carbs. I think everyone does. Sadly, most people seem to think feeling like shit is normal, because that's all they've known their entire lives.
Consider dropping the veggies though, because they do nothing for you and cause digestive issues. Try eating nothing but meat, rare or raw, and you'll witness perfect digestion.
@Don P For your own health, do more research. Check Dr. Gary Fettke at; nofructose.com or on TH-cam : th-cam.com/video/qa5Bcm8T9nU/w-d-xo.html and also Dr. Paul Mason- several TH-cam videos. But I do not understand why you do not believe Dr. Eric Westmand. He has the most personal experience to share with you. What else do you want?
I lost 22lbs the first month and avg 4 lbs per month since then (broke some ribs so for a couple of months I wasn't sleeping) Everything is better... Fat loss is just a great side effect I need to shop for clothes (again) went from 42" waist now at 36" and I won't be in them long (may even pick up some 34" that I may be wearing next month)
My hero and he set me on my keto journey and best life. I hope i get to meet him one day. I use low carb diets for my rehab patients to reduce water in the legs. it works
i like keto doing omad frequently, but hit a plateau.. got sick for 3 days an went from 204 to 197... so gonna start fasting to lose more weight.. thats amazing fasting results..
I followed Atkins after reading Atkins for diabetes years ago and my GP told me that he died from a heart attack! So many people told me this every time I bought the diet up. Now that I have the truth I'll make them eat their words. Thank you.
RN comment: Dr. Atkins was So So ahead of his time. There is an old saying (perhaps Biblical) that "Prophets are not well listened too in their own communities. " Pioneers of all sorts face this conundrum. Atkins was scoffed at, but held on. My now FLAT Tummy agrees with him. I loved my CARBs, but I prefer this health improvement. Those who say MDs are not well-trained in nutrition are correct.
I think that was the viral rumour, l wonder who put that out there? *cough cough* , that's what l heard too, that his cooky diet killed him. Sad that he died.
AWESOME! I listen to every LCHF video I come across & study the workings of insulin & its multi-faceted effect in virtually every area of the body. Great job on this video & you're an especially easy & enjoyable listen.
Great lecture! I just completed a 72 hour water fast to kick off my ketogenic diet. The Keyo Mojo tracking device let me know how it was going. GKI was 48 at the start and 1.4 at the finish. 200 pounds day 1 and 194 end of day 3. If you have your patients use the keto tracking device and they are required to send you the report your results will be much better. I started my keto dieting at 235. Have been keto since 2013 and usually weigh 185. I put on some weight during the coronavirus from April to October 2020. I will be back to 185 by Thanksgiving. The tracking helps me get to the weight goal. Thanks again for the video 😎👍
I was surprised to find out that carbs were the reason I was having restless leg syndrome all these years once I went on keto RLS went away! Once I cut out oxalates from fruits and vegetables nuts and seeds my fibromyalgia got 80% better
"Restless leg" comes from you sitting for long periods and not moving your legs. Your body needs movement to circulate lymph fluid. Sitting on your ass all the time will make you fidget since your body needs movement.
@@Iliek - Restless leg syndrome is from nerves firing, and has little or nothing to do with lymph. Neuropothy, iron metabolism, and renal damage are among the known causes. Neuropothy and renal damage are both know results of a high carb diet in carbohydrate intolerant people. Even if your theory was true, you do not know this person or how much physical activity they engage in every day. You have no right to make negative assumptions, or to criticize them. Educate yourself before finding fault in others.
I watch all videos from Low Carb Down Under and inevitably, in the face of so much scientific evidence from a Dr. working in the field and getting stellar results, there will be downvoters. The pity of it is they can never be required to justify their stance, and perhaps enlighten the upvoters who have, in their eyes, patently got it wrong as they just move on with the click of a mouse to another video that doesn't chime with their world view.
I wish I could have Dr. Westman as my personal Doctor! Tying to get my Doctor (or perhaps most Doctors) to understand that this Keto Medicine; or Science -> Makes Sense! It works!
Agreed! I did Atkins 30 years ago but everyone convinced me it was “unhealthy” as they handed me a bowl of pasta. It’s a great way to transition because you are able to “treat” yourself in a different way. I would have lobster with garlic butter and think, “wow, I’m eating my favorite meal! I’ll sacrifice the dessert for this!”
@@marthawoodward5716 - Maybe you can provide your physician with the info from Phinney & Volek on the difference between nutritional ketosis and ketoacidosis, which is vast - if that is her concern.

Yes, even in the epilepsy world, sometimes they can be backward in coming forward because the drug companies are too pushy. The drug companies want it all their own way, now they're trying to come up with keto ways of saving people with epilepsy. They have to get their money.
ALL doctors should teach the real way to eat. Food is medicine! Nutrition is KEY. Im not hungry all the time, I eat one meal a day. Carnivore heavy, low carb. I have lost 85 lbs and I havent felt this good in 25 years! It has changed my life! Im off my allergy meds after 15 years, I dont get sick anymore. I have a theory why other "diets" didnt work for me. Those diets still had high carbs and sugar! Now if I eat something I shouldnt, I feel like shit for a few days after. I get right back on when I couldnt before because I was equally feeling like shit before lol. I have lost all cravings for carbs and sugary foods. I eat til Im full but not too full and Im full for at least 16 hrs and my stomach starts growling around 22 hrs but Im not starving to death. I just wished we werent lied to for the last 60 years and many of us are so brainwashed by the pharma and food industry that when I tell people I dont eat potatoes, noodles, cereals etc anymore, they look at me like I have 3 heads lol I know people who still think butter will kill them while cooking their food in veg oil.. ugh. You do you, I will do me.
Hmm, not sure why would one limit amount of cheese? At around 18:21, I'm eating daily around 500g, is my main source of food along with greens, 1 avocado, 2 eggs, 40g butter .... as I do not eat red meat, can't eat fish (histamine intolerance), .... my main source of calories and necessary proteins is from cheese (with 0g of carbs)..
Others have said that cheese is so calorie dense and delicious that it is too easy to get too many calories that way. Often people recommend cutting back on cheese if they are not losing weight. I am also a cheese fan and I am going to try cutting back to help with my stalled keto.
@Bruce Here Here Bruce. I also have gone almost carnivore. Can’t give up my coffee with heavy cream. No more gastric discomfort. One happy little camper
I now make coconut oil capsules and take 4 of them a few times a day, just to keep me going in ketosis (I cant stand eating raw coconut oil). Since I don't have a weight problem.
@Don P We humans are omnivores, although personally, I don't support the carnivore approach, I was surprised to learn how nutritious the organ meats are! Heart, liver, kidneys etc, you literally don't need to eat any vegetable at all if you consume organ meat in moderation. The problem with veggies is that they are all artificial, especially broccoli, kale, brussel sprouts etc, they are not natural at all! Fruits? They are like candies... So you can not trust on vegetables and fruits. Eat only grass-fed/finished meat and suddenly you feel good, when you feel good it means that your gut is happy which means that everything is okay in your body, you feel alive and energetic generally. Start consuming vegies, suddenly it goes down a bit.
@@tndgu Sadly you are right, through selective breeding and genetic engineering the fast majority of fruit and vegetables available today bear no relation to those we evolved to eat.
@@wizardofraw - Having listened to nearly every presentation by Dr. Westman on TH-cam, what we heard over and over was all the medication he has been able to get his patients off. He also states that medication and surgery should be done only when the benefits clearly exceed the unwanted effects or possible harm from drugs and/or surgery. There is not doubt that many drugs are effective. Some even save lives. Some that are very effective in doing what is claimed also create harmful effects, cleverly called 'side-effects'. Statins are a prime example. They are effective at lowering blood lipids, but cause harm in a high percentage of patients (muscle pain, brain 'fog', Type 2 diabetes, etc) - and have been found to prolong life by only about 5 days on average. These are the most profitable drugs of all time, yet D. Westman points out that overall cholesterol, triglycerides, and HDL all improve on a ketogenic diet. Only LDL numbers increase, and though he did not go into the technical reasons here, he did say that on a ketogenic diet this is nothing to worry about. Other drugs literally save lives every day, especially for those in crisis. Antibiotics are one example. He is aware that many of the studies and drug trials are poorly designed. Yet in spite of the flaws of the system (mostly due to clear conflicts of interest and massive lobbying and bribes from drug companies), Westman points out that the properly formulated ketogenic diet has passed the level of proof required by the FDA. This is what most physicians, and many members of the public, need to hear to have confidence in the diet. And to defend prescribing or following this diet. This was done - without the shenannigans played by the drug companies, which do things like remove people from drug trials who have adverse reactions in a 'run-up' period prior to when they then claim the study actually started - so that they can avoid reporting those adverse reactions. Dr. Westman seems to believe in the original intent of the FDA and the practice of medicine as a caring profession. He is not unaware that proit often corrupts these intentions, but he chose to leave the beaten path an risk ridicule and damage to his career and livelihood by investigating the Atkins diet and leaning about, studying, and prescribing a ketogenic diet. If he has refrained from throwing the baby out with the bathwater, it has helped him to help literally thousands of people.
No mention of protein, which will keep you out of ketosis, according to Stephen Phinney, MD. However, I think LC by itself has great health benefits, because high blood glucose is toxic. Also, the foods on page 4 are pushing high fat animal products, which are nutrient dense and easily absorbed.
Irv Paton He doesn’t mention protein because he doesn’t need to. His patients are killing it by keeping carbs less than 20. Even so - ketosis is on a continuum. But what really matters for weight loss is ones ability to gain control of appetite.
Yes. Started his page 4 diet and have not been in ketosis since. All that changed is lowered my fat and upped my protein per his diet. Carbs under 20 gr. Going to bump up fats and lower protein again.
@@headpump - Yes, we all know we can stop the video to read the slides... yet it takes more time, and interrupts the flow of the speaker. As cute as Ddr. Westman may be, we really don't need to see him at all. This is a common issue with many videos of presentations: too much time on the speaker and not enough time on the slides.
Here is a tip for Everyone who videos presentations. No one really wants to stare at the presenter most of the time, the key is to LEAVE the camera on the Data/Slides much much longer.
Does anyone have a citation for keto treating GERD? (He said heartburn multiple times.) In particular, I'm looking for something to share with someone with GERD and hiatal hernia
Yes I am a Carnivore. Technically Zero Carbs is impossible if you include eggs and fish in your diet. There are a minuscule quantity of carbs in some fish and certainly duck eggs.
Maybe your are just a 2nd hand vegan. :-) Interestingly, ruminant animals on their natural diets INGESST a high fiber diet, mostly structural carbohydrates with low amounts of soluble carbs, but they DIGEST a high fat diet - cattle, sheep, deer, elk, bison, goats, antelope, caribou, etc. This plant matter is digested by the microbes in their huge and complicated G.I. tracts, with the aid of the animals regurgitating, re-chewing, and re-swallowing it, for hours and hours each day. The microbes that digest the plants make short chain fatty acids - which supply these animals with the majority of their energy needs. Similarly, most of the protein needs of these animals is provided by microbial protein- the bodies of these microbes, many (most?) that are classified as animals. Interesting, eh?
Some will claim that the meat you eat contains carbs, from the glycogen in the muscles. However, this is likely converted to lactic acid soon after the animal is harvested. You may have more info about that. The diet Dr. Westman has prescribed to his patients was considered so radical at the time, and still is by many. The fact that he has conducted a couple studies on the ketogenic diet is one of the reasons he has been allowed to continue practicing.
Imho, a sure way to know you are in ketosis , over a weeks time, is by checking FAT percentage, if its decreasing , ( for those who want to loose weight) then you are definitely in Ketosis, Because even if you are showing ketones in breath or urine, doesn't meant you are in ketosis, could be your MCT oil shot. You will also show ketones, if you are having huge amounts of FAt with carbs ,so fat percentage has helped me understand, it also helps in knowing , whether we are eating too much fat hence burning the same fat we are eating and not burning some of our own
I think you should just put them on a strict carnivore diet for at least the first three months. That way it's easy for them to understand. Once they learn and get used to it, then add the other things.
Well, the carnivore diet hasn’t been tested in the same way lchf diets have been. The Doc says he doesn’t make any recommendations until he has seen studies that show a benefit. If carnivore turns out to be helpful I’m pretty sure Doc will support it.

Well I'm on the carnivore diet for the moment. But there are loads of me To alternatives to dough and bread and sweets made with coconut flour and almond flour etc So people can make cakes and breads with low carb alternative.
It is often better to just get over the bread and dough thing. Almond flour is loaded with oxalates. In addition to kidney stones, tiny oxalate crystals can form causing pain and damage to different tissues in the body. th-cam.com/video/i7ArmIYGH0s/w-d-xo.html Experts argue whether sugar and starch - which is just sugar molecules hooked together - are truly addictive, or people just act like they are... Either way, it is best to not continue the urge for these foods with substitutes. We can wrap meats and cheeses, etc in leaves of lettuce, grape leaves, or steamed cabbage leaves. We can make pizza with no crust at all. In a shallow pan or dish, the melted cheese can become the base of the pizza, to name just a couple ideas. On the other hand - you are so right: if we are going to give in to the urge to 'cheat', VLC alternatives are better than harming ourselves with high sugar and/or high starch foods!
Dr Westman. Help! I’ve follow quite a few of keto postings. I’m running into numerous people, 12 on one post comments talking about attacks of afib, myself included. After searching for afib and keto, came across a doctor who stated that the ketones can mess with the electrical impulses to our hearts. Brilliant as always The lab test parameters certainly need correction . But you know certain tests such as zGFR that have weight as a component of the formula Does a lab weigh you before a blood draw ? NO they do not .... testing and acceptance of the Keto way we have a long way to go. Too much of “ medical” practice is industrialized... but that’s another whole topic

You don't need to worry about lowering LDL. The current numbers are set in the boardrooms of pharmaceutical companies for the sole purpose of selling blockbuster cholesterol drugs. High LDL is more about the size and density of the molecules. Light, large, and fluffy LDL particles are not harmful to arteries and do not cause inflammation. Small, hard and dense LDL particles on the other hand, will greatly contribute to inflammation and arterial damage.. ♥
My labs all good after 3 yrs of keto my doctor could not believe that my cholesterol and triglycerides were within normal limits when I told him I eat high fat your body will fix itself if you eat the right kind of foods like the keto diet unless you have some kind of genetic problem.
As I understand it, Dr. Atkins had hypertension and congestive heart failure. Am I wrong? I'm not anti-keto at all, but the foregoing is a criticism of Atkins.
Are people stupid? Keto isn't MAGIC. Ffs. You can gain weight on keto, you can lose weight on keto. You can gain weight eating carbs, you can lose weight eating carbs. Pick whichever one you like and ensure you're in a caloric deficit. If you're in keto and cutting an entire macro (carbs) of course you're gonna be in a deficit. You're also gonna be less hungry due to the natural hunger suppressing qualities of keto. It's calories in calories out! I've lost weight doing keto, fasting, , meat only, HFLC, HCLF. They all work. Pick the one that you can stick to the best and it will work. Can't beat the laws of thermodynamics. Disclaimer: this is for fat loss I'm talking about. Using this for lower inflammation is gonna have its own benefits but I'm not talking about that.
Could try tracking your calories? Just removing carbs but not restricting calories may stall your Weightloss. Could try adding some intermitt fasting 16/8 is the most common. 8 hour eating window and a 16 hour fast with just black coffee, black tea, water, mineral water or green tea.
depends on if you are overweight or not when you started...check out your measurements (if you measured before you began: your waist, hips, bicep, thigh, chest) in another 3 weeks....you should "feel" better, look less bloated, have a more clear mind/thinking many other positive. I did keto as well...but I had to do DR. Westmans Page 4 keto...my other keto had too many keto products..anywho, .just eat real food, meat, eggs, cheese, some leafy greens, olives, avocado...it is all on his Page 4 list...it works. Look it up, print it off and flow that list...just eat only what is on the list ...it'll work

Oh man, old habits will never die for most of them
It would be better if you kept with your doctor because your example will help educate him. Think it this way, if you change his mind you could very likely save other people's lives that are being poorly treated for diabetes by this doctor. As you continue to see him year after year, you can ask him about what health bio markers are showing you to have a high risk factor? Ask him if his prediction of your early demise was unfounded.
@@Jefferdaughter that's like sharing a bible to convert a militant atheist.
But me the opposite..keto make me heart burn
Same here. GERD gone lived with it for years
I always enjoy listening to Dr Westman, he has the best down to earth way of teaching people about Keto.

Maybe but the "eliminate the carbs the rice potatos the sugar" is getting tiresome. An MD who states that really has no credibility in my opinion.

I followed Atkins after reading Atkins for diabetes years ago and my GP told me that he died from a heart attack! So many people told me this every time I bought the diet up. Now that I have the truth I'll make them eat their words. Thank you.
He died as a result of a fall. He was pilloried by mainstream thinking but has proven to have been right.
Similar thing happened to Julia Clark.
Great lecture! I just completed a 72 hour water fast to kick off my ketogenic diet. The Keyo Mojo tracking device let me know how it was going. GKI was 48 at the start and 1.4 at the finish. 200 pounds day 1 and 194 end of day 3.
Sitting on your ass all the time will make you fidget since your body needs movement.
goodmaki No, restless leg syndrome usually bothers people when they're at rest, often when trying to sleep. It's not from sitting on your ass.
@@Iliek - Restless leg syndrome is from nerves firing, and has little or nothing to do with lymph. Neuropothy, iron metabolism, and renal damage are among the known causes. Neuropothy and renal damage are both know results of a high carb diet in carbohydrate intolerant people.

It works!
My favorite doc and one of the most gentleman persons I've ever known!
Great fan of Atkins and his way of eating which made it easy to do keto with little changes
My 'former' Dr had to google Ketogenic diet in front of me. Didn't know what it was.
He probably has literally no knowledge of nutrition, like the vast majority of medical doctors.

I just wished we werent lied to for the last 60 years and many of us are so brainwashed by the pharma and food industry that when I tell people I dont eat potatoes, noodles, cereals etc anymore, they look at me like I have 3 heads lol I know people who still think butter will kill them while cooking their food in veg oil.. ugh.

At 20:00 the slide says, "YOU MUST EAT VEGETABLES EVERY DAY." What about "carnivore" people who eat no vegetables at all?
Applauds

But yet he promotes pills as effective and absolutely loves the FDA..
WizardofRaw baby steps.
What a dear man.
If you’re fasting on keto
which meal is best morning or evening?
Thanks for all your help
No mention of protein, which will keep you out of ketosis, according to Stephen Phinney, MD. However, I think LC by itself has great health benefits, because high blood glucose is toxic. Also, the foods on page 4 are pushing high fat animal products, which are nutrient dense and easily absorbed.
Irv Paton
He doesn’t mention protein because he doesn’t need to.

Yes I am a Carnivore. Technically Zero Carbs is impossible if you include eggs and fish in your diet. There are a minuscule quantity of carbs in some fish and certainly duck eggs.
Maybe your are just a 2nd hand vegan. :-)
Interestingly, ruminant animals on their natural diets INGESST a high fiber diet, mostly structural carbohydrates with low amounts of soluble carbs, but they DIGEST a high fat diet - cattle, sheep, deer, elk, bison, goats, antelope, caribou, etc.
Imho, a sure way to know you are in ketosis , over a weeks time, is by checking FAT percentage, if its decreasing , ( for those who want to loose weight) then you are definitely in Ketosis,
Because even if you are showing ketones in breath or urine, doesn't meant you are in ketosis, could be your MCT oil shot.
You will also show ketones, if you are having huge amounts of FAt with carbs ,so fat percentage has helped me understand, it also helps in knowing , whether we are eating too much fat hence burning the same fat we are eating and not burning some of our own

In addition to kidney stones, tiny oxalate crystals can form causing pain and damage to different tissues in the body. th-cam.com/video/i7ArmIYGH0s/w-d-xo.html
Experts argue whether sugar and starch - which is just sugar molecules hooked together - are truly addictive, or people just act like they are...

Does someone need to be below 50 grams for all this to work or can say 100 be effective.
How to lower my LDL WHILE BEING ON KETO/IF???
Not really possible. But if your TC/HDL ratio improves keto may offer some advantage. Otherwise go down the pritikin route. th-cam.com/video/Q9D5voIviOo/w-d-xo.html
If your triglycerides are low, don’t worry about it. See videos by Dave Feldman &/or Ivor Cummins.
LDL is not considered a danger unless you're consuming sugar. Dr. Paul Mason.
How does Keto help with blood clots?
so if you don't have diabetes you can eat more greens and green veggies so long as you stay below 20 total carbs daily....is this correct?
Yes
What are the chances Atkins was pushed on that icy sidewalk?
High, actually very high
Yeah. I thought about that, thinking about Dr. Westman's safety, too.
Does anyone have a link to the list of foods? Healclinics.com is defunct. Thanks!
As I understand it, Dr. Atkins had hypertension and congestive heart failure. Am I wrong? I'm not anti-keto at all, but the foregoing is a criticism of Atkins.
I have always heard that same rumor, but this Dr knew him personally I'm glad he set the record straight.
atkins had a genetic condition, so its possible his diet actually kept him alive longer than if he was eating carbs, maybe
Ezequiel bread with butter is parte of my breakfast and it doesn’t put weight on me
With kidney disease, nephrology level 3, can I do Keto?
Check out Dr. Jason Fung He's the expert on the subject. Good luck.
Good talk.
I’m doing KEto three weeks now, no weight loss.
Could try tracking your calories? Just removing carbs but not restricting calories may stall your Weightloss. Could try adding some intermitt fasting 16/8 is the most common. 8 hour eating window and a 16 hour fast with just black coffee, black tea, water, mineral water or green tea.
It takes up to 3 days go reach a state of ketosis and up to 3 weeks for the entire body to fully adapt to run only on ketones.
Add some intermediate fasting
Eliminate all seed oils?
depends on if you are overweight or not when you started...check out your measurements (if you measured before you began: your waist, hips, bicep, thigh, chest) in another 3 weeks....you should "feel" better, look less bloated, have a more clear mind/thinking many other positive. I did keto as well...but I had to do DR. Westmans Page 4 keto...my other keto had too many keto products..anywho, .just eat real food, meat, eggs, cheese, some leafy greens, olives, avocado...it is all on his Page 4 list...it works. Look it up, print it off and flow that list...just eat only what is on the list ...it'll work
Where can I get page 4?
I would suggest going to Google and typing in Dr. Westman page 4. I think that is where I found it.
google page 4 keto
Easy to find. Just do a search for page 4 food list.

30:29 - It drives me nuts when graphs are displayed without needed info. This graph shows a bunch of bars indicating weight loss with some weight gain but over WHAT TIME PERIOD? Without that key info, this graph is meaningless. 1 hr? 1 month? 1 year? Who knows?
20 total carbs? Do you allow for fiber? Net carbs?
Yes it can be 20 to 25 grams of net carbs to begin with which can increase or decrease depending on the individual.
Dr Westman’s system uses total carbs, not net carbs.
@@lcako1616 get Westmans book "End your carb confusion"...it answers every question you have. I bought it on audible and listen to it to remind me why I do keto...HEALTH:)))
Keto and carnivore is the best. As long as you don't consume sugar and few carbs, you win.
Why did he reference healclinics.com when Heal Cinics are are closed?
It’s probably a presentation he gave well before it was uploaded.
