    I love how you completely respect the spouses opinion and in the fact that she holds an important part in the decision making. You’re not pushy as other bad salesmen and try to pressure them into making a decision without the spouse. This was amazing. You’re awesome!

    This is a great way to overcome objections! But I think the guy receiving it was extraordinarily allowing. Many people would find this pushy, especially when said by a salesman. I think Dan did everything perfectly but some people are just more wary when they are about to buy.

      When this happens a sale most likely is toast. As soon as the keyword wife arrives best is to just fold up and move on. The person is making a brush off statement and is not even considering. I wonder if in reverse his wife calls him for his permission if she wants to buy something for herself when she's out in town?

These things are what makes you great Dan. You tell it like it is. People know where they stand. Aside from the calming nature you had in that call... you were at the highest frequency... and thus set the table...He and his wife will join your project.

    In reality I doubt a person would call back the next day. Normally when someone says they have to talk to their wife means they are just making a polite excuse to politely back out and decline and this is a common line used for that purpose. Another very important thing is that when someone mentions the word wife in their excuse that already says they are not serious in making the decision. If someone wants to go ahead and do something they will just do it. I mean even kids if they want to do something they often will not even ask their parents much less that a full self supporting adult would need to ask someone's permission to do something. So a person makes a living and is earning their own money and has to ask someone's permission to do something? Does that make logical sense? And what if we go in the reverse? What if his wife is out in town and wants to buy something does she call her husband if she can? I could have a laugh at this one. The worst thing is if people bullshit you and tell you something like that. It means the person is not serious if they say that. Had it happen a few times. It's just a brush off line.

    • @chadelliottfahlman-htcgrad7866
      @chadelliottfahlman-htcgrad7866 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can be both. That's why it's practical to commit them verbally. Some flake out, others genuinely need to speak with their spouse. Example: Closing a small potatoes B2B prospect whose budget is, essentially, shared with wife. My Dad was a small business owner. While most decisions were made between him and his business partner, he at least tacitly had Mom's backing.
      But, yes, other times you can call them out. The last thing you want is a reversal because the spouse sees a bizarre charge of several $1000.

    I faced this similar situation. In my case, when I was called by the doctor, plastic surgeon ( husband) to his clinic to give the presentation, he made me sit. After some time he went into his room and his wife ( Doctor - Dentist) came out and took me in another room and told me to show the presentation to her. I was supposed to give the presentation to the plastic surgeon to showcase my plastic surgeon profile and here she comes ( his wife) asking to give her the presentation on his behalf. I refused to give her the presentation. In fact, I said, I don't mind giving the presentation to them both or only to her husband or husband first and then the wife. I was comfortable to even give the presentation to both. Mr. Dan, how would you handle this type of situation. I make surgery based video presentation for doctors, patient education and to promote doctors online. This is Anthony from Santacruz, Mumbai, India.

      "This is going to be an important decision for you and your husband therefore I feel it deserves both your full attention. Let me know when I can come back and speak to the two of you in person. Unless he's available now of course?"
      This question essentially polarizes the client and forces them to give either change plans and allow you to speak directly with the decision maker or reveal they were properly never qualified prospects to begin with.
      I know you wanted a reply from Dan but I thought I would just chime in with my own strategy

      @@chadelliottfahlman-htcgrad7866 When this happens for the most part I want to talk to their significant other so I would get the individual to BAMFAM (book a meeting from a meeting) to talk either in person on the phone or a 3 way call or in person, but what has also worked for me but might be different for others depending on what you guys sell, is asking the individual something like this: So let me ask you something when you go shopping for those new nike's or new clothes ... ect.. do you always consult your significant other before buying it? The always say no, then i ask this: ... and when you do this typically this isn't a cheap buy for the most part right lol? They typically agree again. Then I ask something like this next: So buying this service and/ or product today would solve your problem and its something you need feel you or your family needs right? I get there answer might be a bit small convo but they agree in the end. Then I ask something like this: So you pretty set with what you need and it's something we both can grow together with so let's make the commitment together and have you start today, why waist time on something you already know. For me this isn't word for word what I say but its close and the meaning is about the same, and I would say after I pin point that's it isn't the money excuse or anything else but its just the asking the "spouse" issue they buy or join about 8/10 times on the spot. I try to avoid having another meeting to re-sell again. The main issue is this when you set the meeting up for another day with their spouse, this 100% happens the spouse you talked to try's to explain what you are selling in the worst and dumping way. The spouse is happy and full of energy about whatever it is and just kind of throws info at their spouse, and for the most part not truly represent what I was selling them... this results in confusion and the spouse is on high alert mode now, so when you meet them it usually doesn't go you way.
