It's literally Warframe's answer to the throwing Brick 'sniper rifle' from Gunfire Reborn. Or I guess vice-versa because Epitaph came out first. :V

I distinctly remember when Call of the Tempestarii first dropped and building this funky little arm-mounted blaster. Everyone was raving about it being a fantastic new primer, meanwhile I was having the time of my life blasting fools with 500k red crit headshots. What a beaut, still one of my favourite weapons in the game.
Same here, I have always used Epitaph as a wrist railgun.
Sort of the same situation with Kompressa. People saying it's great as a primer while I'm over here using it to cover my enemies with, to quote someone I saw once say, "Enough bubbles to legally be called a Bed Bath & Beyond." People building it for just priming when you can just build for damage and such and it acts as a primer anyways.

Okay, hear me out:
Full tauforged shards of Secondary Crit Chance.
Remove Galvanized Crosshairs.
Add even MOAR status procs.
orange shards if endless mission, they give double the amount of crit, and the build already has corrosive so that galv crosshair is replaced by 60/60 heat

Might get the quellor and pennant primes instead of Epitaph (or even nautilus), similiar to how Protea didn't get stropha prime as the base is so popular.

I feel like this was the way the weapon was intended to be used, everybody focused on the priming so much we forgot how good the charge shot was, it never got nerfed and now we have even stronger mods and arcanes for it.
Most players can't Think for Themselves so they always Copy Builds and never Try something Different. 👀

One thing I love about the Epitaph is that its uncharged shot has enough AoE, fire rate, and status chance to be a good primer, while the charged shot has the crit, fire rate, and forced impact proc to be an amazing kill gun. What’s more, you can build it hybrid so that you can prime them a bit with the uncharged shot, then delete them with the charged shot.

"Primer" yeah I've gave up using primers when I made a crit nukor and epitaph that could hit harder than my 5 forma dread, good to see more people see builds like this.
I love crit kuva nukor, didn't need to use it as primer, and I just main that gun to pbliterate entire hoards of enemies lol
God damn I am early. Epitaph was what got me through very early on in SP. Love it.
this has always bin one of those weapons of "why prime when its already dead" for me, i dont run into content that needs priming setups to get to that lvl, but man does it just chunk

It literally kills with the quick shots alone and not very inteligent youtubers will have every video telling you to use it as a primer FOR YEARS and people who can't think for themselves blindly follow. Took a while but THANK YOU for properly using this amazing weapon
It's still better as a primer if you care about KPM.

Just like with Sevagoth, people sleep on this until you fully try it out and it deals BONKERS damage. The forced cold procs especially were made to have synergy with gloom and the mad headshots for heavy/eximus enemies. Very satisfying combo
Edit: Nightmare mode spawns harolds and so do magnetic procs im pretty sure
The forced cold procs are going to become absolutely ridiculous in a couple weeks when cold can stack up to a 100% slow.
People really underestimate these primers.
DPS epitaph has always had a special place in my heart, it's nice to see someone else recognize it; it goes even harder with viral and secondary shiver
Greetings, I have a...'suggestion'. Uss Saryn with the Grimoire (if you want you can also replace Molt with Ballistic Battery), why? Because Toxic Lash hits are counted separately for ticking down the alt fire, which means the alt fire can charge itself with Toxic lash. Oh and the Toxic Lash interaction also extends to multishot from the primary fire. Jahu canticle also removes the need to use Emerald shards on Saryn because it will fill in the missing armor strip and Xata Invocation allows the constant use of Ballistic Battery, oh and yes the Dots from Grimoire alt fire and Toxic lash will quickly charge up Ballistic Battery casts. It's a feedback loop that only stops if you or all enemies are dead. (even if you die most things around you have no armor so Last Gasp revives become easier to pull off)
tl;dr Saryn can charge the Grimoire faster than Dante can charge Noctua in all cases
Love using this on Valence Lavos with two corrosive shards, epitaph is such a lovely all rounder.
If we're doing 24m headshot damage now, imagine what we'll be dealing once the armour changes come out in June

I remember using the arcane that gives you a million crit chance on headshot after a roll to get some absolutely silly numbers. But yeah this is just a fantastic all rounder that more people need to give a shot beyond priming, also side note with the cold changes they wanna do shown on the latest devstream using this to prime and then hitting them with its charge shot is gonna be WILD since they'll get fully frozen AND take more crit damage

I've actually used this weapon on Ivara since it was released because of the headshot multiplier on prowl, and every release that comes out with something else that buffs that, like Deadhead, just makes it even more hilarious.

Yess!!! Disruption epitaph is underrated lmao, probably the best prime+burst damage secondary in the game. Yes, gun co is multiplicative so with hornet strike + bane the damage output is just insane
It's so strong that I kind of worry if it's good for the game. The prime can't possibly be much better without it being alarming
I didn't realize how much they min-maxed this weapon;
It can fit Lethal torrent and be JUST below the threshold for Hemorhhage, which was ALSO released in the same update this gun was released,
And due to the projectile nature it gets MULTIPLICATIVE scaling with Galvanized Savvy,
AND applies a ton of status, with a force proc COLD so the enemy is slow so its easier to land headshots. It's such a crazed gun and I'm thinking I should use its charged shot mode more...

Its funny that people are finally figuring out the intended use of the Epitaph, its meant to do a quick-shot to slow enemies then use the charged shot to obliterate them with massive damage. I've been using it like this since day one, it kills just about everything instantly.
This is my favorite secondary in the game by far. It can prime, oneshot high level stuff and turns any frame into a nuke frame in low level.
For higher levels I’ve always liked running viral and merciless instead of corrosive and deadhead. The charged shot won’t proc the viral, but the Epitath doesn’t have to be “primer OR damage” it can be its own primer and then do its own damage. Doing a quick shot to apply viral to a ton of enemies and then using charged shots to bleed them all to death lets it do amazing damage. Been using it that way since it came out and it honestly keeps up with some of the broken secondaries running around.
With jade shadows removing the electric resist from alloy armor, electric has become my favorite elemental to use on this since you’ll freeze enemies in that stun animation thats also perfect presentation for headshots.
Unfortunately the prime has higher fire rate which pushes it over Hemorrhage’s 2x frequency threshold if you use lethal torrent.

It sometimes shocks me that people don't realize that Epitaph is actually just a crazy damage dealing gun. It just so happens to also be a really good primer, but it has crazy damage output with hemorrhage, and has multiplicative scaling on galvanized savvy (which also pairs well with its priming ofc)
Can't wait until prime sevagoth and epitaph later this year
If he does come this year, it'd probably be in December, and idk if DE can schedule well enough for that after Gauss Prime's overstayed welcome

Now you know how I feel when I expect a weapon to be ok to good and then it goes straight up berserk.
Tip: Take off Deadhead, throw on Cascadia Overcharge, take off one of your elemental mods, put on Hornet Strike, take off the remaining elemental mod, put on the new Secondary Elementalist mod. Your damage will multiply a good couple times.
As an Epitaph enjoyer... Using this with Viral+Radiation+Deadhead+GunCO (Multiplicative, btw) and watching the base 300 get absolutely B U F F E D to become 10.6M per headshot is so satisfying.
It's like dropping a perfectly round pebble from super high up and watching it make the biggest splash in the water way below.
I've been saying this to my clan for years, and honestly like half of them use it for killing now too. It's my most used weapon in the game, I rock it on xaku, with xatas, enemy bullets can't even hit me cuz they're all void bubbled. Cascadia Empowered makes for an insane quick shot killing build, Encumber is my go to for a charged build, I invest in status, quick shot to stack every element rq, then galv shot carries the dmg just fine.
If the infested ancients drain your EN with their rope grab it procs duplex bond too.
Slap that on a Lavos or Chroma and see funny numbers
I've been running a Hybrid Crit Status Hemmorhage build on this weapon for YEARS so I'm surprised this came as such a shock to you.
I JUST KNEW when the weapon first came out that it was a perfect vehicle for this brand new Hemmorhage mod with that 2.4 Fire Rate and I figured Viral + Slash Procs was gonna be very damned good.
I was not at all disappointed.
These days my Epitaph is a 5 Forma Build with 3 Seperate builds.
Hybrid Viral Crit Hemmorhage
Standard Primer Build
And if you want something *really* spicy Mr. TH-cam Man, try dropping both Status Mods for Sharpned Bullets and Hydraulic Crosshairs; Rocking a Ceramic Dagger Incarnon, and using Secondary Outburst for *even more crit*
then use the Cedo Alt Fire to Prime targets.
The damage output of the Slashes on that setup is beyond ridiculous, especially with a Rhino Roar or Eclipse behind it.
That's when it hits Levelcap Destroying territory which is entirely unnecessary but extremely funny when this wrist mounted Slab Launcher deletes literally anything you point it at without fail.
I already knew the pawa of this, but, now it is in eye of DE, may pablo have mercy on us.
Also, you wanna know the real kicker? after protea prime and xaku prime, this weapon is gonna be getting a prime

I've said this here once before, but pair Epitaph with Yareli and you WILL be deleting anything that comes in front of you. Even more so with the power of red archon shards. Such a great weapon
It may be one of the best secondaries in the game. It primes and detonates so good, give it to Yareli, equip full crit mods on the Epitaph and it will be nuts.

throw on viral with dual stat mods and galva shot and can see some pretty spicy numbers.
Personally, I prefer shot over crosshairs.

I like taking this thing into sp circuit with Citrine, it's super easy to get the crystal beaming everything with it

Secondary Encumber goes hard in tandem with Galvanized Shot on this too from what I'd experienced! I manage to pull 2M headshots on SP single targets after priming lol

This is why I have spent years being bothered by people using Epitaph exclusively for priming for other weapons-- because it literally actually made everyone forget how GOOD this weapon is as a full package. This thing is genuinely insane, perfectly tuned to be a monster all on its own, *on top of* doing priming for other weapons just for fun. It's completely wild what happens when you do things other than slap every status mod on there.
Finally someone mentions the ridiculous damage potential of the epitaph!

If viral and cold can be used simultaneously in the aoe shot, shiver might be a good arcane for it, effectively giving more viral stacks

I use similar build, just with primed pistol gambit instead of crosshairs, status duration instead of lethal torrent then 3 dual stats and Cucumber. Primes just fine as it usually does and when I need the damage I just charge it. It can even 2 tap SP Demo when shot in the head under all those silly icons from all allowed procs in the game.

Yeah, epitaph is kinda underrated as a damage dealing weapon. I never build around charge or crits, just uncharged shots already do ridiculous amount of damage. And I don't run a single base damage mod on my epitaph, just galv savy and I use arcane tht does 750 damage when I proc status on enemies.. on uncharged shots the hit and explosion apply status separately, my multishot is beyond 4 and I have 250% status chance. It just works, tho I don't get 6 digit slash procs :D
I've been running it as a primer for Nekros (I mean, the name, come on...), but since he's usually hacking into things I slapped Secondary Dexterity onto it. It can get some pretty nice damage going with that!

Im surprised you didnt use it with secondary encumber. Personally I run that with galvanized shot and is still does good damage while also priming a billion status effects.

I run Gal Diffusion, Gal Shot, Hornet Strike, Pistol Gambit, Pistol Pest, Frostbite, Scorch, and Primed Heated Charge, with Cascadia Flare. Heat Shreds the Armor increasing damage taken, Viral for the Damage Multi, the quick shot basically full stacks Flare, the Heat Procs kill the random trash mobs, then you Execute the tougher things with a charged shot. The weapon is just not ok XD

Sevagoth Prime is within the next 3 Primes. Ergo, _Epitaph Prime_ will be, also.

Hmmm.... Ok, so this build is focused on the high damage charged shot, but I'd imagine that it would be possible to run a kind of hybrid build with.... Viral or Corrosive I guess? Wherein you soften them up with the uncharged shot and then go for the charged one.
Edit: Oh you did it already. Nevermind.
You can run it with viral heat, and radiation with the newer sanctum mods. That gives you viral, heat, radiation, forced impact, and slash from hemorrhage. Aoe also has blast and forced cold procs. Galvanized Shot gives it so much damage.the radiation mod would be instead of lethal torrent however so you don’t break the 2.5 fire rate threshold for Hemorrhage, but I think the multishot is more important for more procs rather than more unique procs.
Using the Epitaph as just a primer is a sin, that thing crits like a mule and destroys anything with a couple of headshots.
Also, this will 100% get a prime version when Sevagoth Prime comes, so...

Ive been using the epitaph for its damage since I got it. It gets crazy in the circuit and regularly hits damage cap. I prefer to build for full crit tho
honestly i feel the charge shot is overlooked but of course it would be because it involves too many variables that people are too lazy to want to tolerate

Friend, I am confused. Why no Primed Pistol Gambit? Why just crosshairs? Drop corrosive and put in Primed Heated Charge for single element heat. The cold isn't actually on the weapon, so it shouldn't combine for Blast (and if it does, hell, put on toxin for viral, but I don't think it does).
Believe it or not I use Afuris Prime to prime enemies and it’s so fun 😂
Thing is sometimes just a few stacks of viral is enough, so i just do a quick spray and it works so well due to the fire rate. Way more fun to me than epitaph tbh
