As jank as the PvP was (and would deffo be nowadays) it did add alot to the game having this type of friendly rivalry and emergent content.
As far as I remember, it was ICE clan (or was it alliance? yeah tbh I think some sort of viable pvp is the missing link on warframe and that final hook that would grab more players. Should be something that players could opt out of but with decent enough rewards to entice people to play and with of course good gameplay. Clan wars would be so awesome if viable.
Historical videos like these always give me nostalgia, been playing very consistently since June 2013. Always interesting to think back about all the old popular farming spots and how they got nerfed eventually. The current meta for most farms have been unbroken for quite a while, which is quite surprising to me. I still remember when the only way to get Axi relics was banking syndicate medallions for relic packs and crossing your fingers or rot B and C. Disruption being added to make Axi farming a breeze was probably the biggest relief to me.
Xini Defence will always be one of my favourite nostalgic WF moments - back then Heavy Impact was calculated off how long you hadn't touched the ground so Loki's would wall hang as long as possible then the resultant damage would clear the entire map up until about wave 20 ish. Great for farming if you were using lower level gear 👌
This is certainly a throw back goddamn. I still think about Draco every time I have to level something up. And the derelict defense oh boy I miss those days. I remember mags unvauting. I farmed her sooo hard with one of my friends and we both bought the hunhows gift bundle with the plat we got by selling her sets. Suck nostalgia
I love the history lesson, but I think it’s a bit misleading to call this a look at “forgotten game modes” because the discussion isn’t about mission types. Instead, it seems more of a discussion about old grind spots and how the grind changed over the years.
Shout-out to Deception, when it was its own mission type. Turns out it's now apart of Grineer shipyard/settlement sabotage. I did not realize that until I looked it up on the wiki just now. _It never occurred to me, lol._
I remember back during the Solar Rail PVP people would get understandably annoyed with me for using the Venka knockdown combo. It was such a cheese thing to do considering all that was needed was to knock someone on the ground and just look down at them and perform a finisher which would give you a free kill each time. I also remember the short lived Raid/Trial (aka The Law of Retribution) gamemode being a thing and it being chaotic due to it being an 8 player mode.
I so badly wish they would turn Phobes in the old Corpus ship. It could be considered a lower tier for corpus considering how much of a joke the Sergeant is.
The whole xini defense tileset is a wild trip of a throwback. I have never done mirror defence since i started playing the game again after so many years and was just confused where that specific tile set was. I will happily check that out later

I would like to add CB to this list. Warframes CB had a skill tree system instead of modding, only slash/impact/pierce damage types were available outside of warframes, running used stamina, bullet jump wasn't a thing but Excalibur had a jump ability, and Braton Vandal was godlike when first released. I could be wrong about some facts and I'm probably forgetting so many others, but it has been a very long time.
Man, I remember old Xini. When you got mods with completely random stats and infested would get stuck in their spawn rooms so you had to find it and try to kill it with AoE. And not everybody had a enemy radar so you would use ears. Fun times.
I really miss some of these old maps/mechanics, I joined warframe around the time they were slowly phasing them out so I barely had a lot of time to mess with everything.
I started playing warframe rather late, around when railjack came out. My favorite node and gamemode thats gobe was gian point. Farming that for hours was so much fun. Playing around with different railjack guns and equipment.
I find it funny how warframe best nostalgic moments are because of DE creating modes, players breaking the modes bc of bugs, DE fix8ng the modes but creating more bugs in the process and players exploting those bugs😅
M Prime (Mercury) used to be a mission type called "Raid". It worked like Capture, except you were stealing something. The most notable part about this was that M Prime's Raid node _always_ dropped Vitality. Which doesn't sound impressive, until I point out that the transition from Mods 1.0 to Mods 2.0 resulted in a bunch of frames losing stats (that would later be added back in), meaning that everyone went from "normal gameplay" to "super squishy" instantly. Further with the fusion system working off of an idealized binary sequence for ranks (rank 0-1 took 2 mods, rank 1-2 took 4 etc), meant that maxing out Vitality took the equivalent of 1024 copies of the mod.
I remeber doors and walls being tennos worste foe, I remeber the days before de removed stamina, choopering was a thing to work around the stamina drain. I do remeber spy 1.0. Raids. Viver was a loot cave and that place kind of broke DE. Viver got yeeted into a blackhole, they did reworked cynda shop at least. What did they do to Xini? that place is nothing like og Xini, I ran Draco a ton back in the day, I heard about E-gate but didn´t try it, didn´t have a necros at the time. I also remeber od surv had a soft spot in the wall and due to a decoration in the wall, there was a small area to stand on, so can just camp there. od deff was a classic place to get primes, than keys. Runing T4 surv was a classic. How long can you stay alive was the question. Fussion cores and void keys, I miss the flow the prime farm surv had, now it is stoping each 5 mins and pick a new cabbage, get 10 fissures, they toke away the enjoyment of that mode for me, I aslo remeber all fallowed the loot table, so I guess the cabbages kind of removed that need to fallow the loot table, still I kind of what that system back, just go into a prime farm without any brakes in the game flow. I do remeber no one liked aoe limbo, cleared the whole map. Solar rail feels kind of guted this days. What happend to Bere?
I've been around since 2014. Was part of the Draco Ceres mission exploit. And I played the HECK out of it. For those of you newer Warframe players, here are some curiosities about the good, the bad and the ROTTEN points of public matchmaking back then: The group was basically composed of Excalibur, EV Trin and a Rhino. The fourth player was usually a leecher brought in by the host, no questions asked. I've done hundreds of Dracos back then, and never saw a Mesa like the author here is mentioning. Excal was the best choice because of his Radial Javelin which could nuke the entire map with 1 click. But there were conditions to meet if you were chosen in public chat to be him, and you HAD to know your place and behave, or else you'd fk things up with Trinity (next paragraph). Usually there were 95% of people willing to be Excals, but not many Trins or Rhinos. After all, Excal was a real 1 button nuke, and all you had to do was to spam it. But here is the thing: if you spam it too much, you'd run out of energy quick, so TRINITY would suffer because she'd need to keep up with the battery recharge. So, a perfect, polite and well-mannered Excal player would tap Javelin every once in a while, offering Trin a few golden seconds to locate enemies and EV them for energy. But most of the time, that wasn't the case... most Excals were power hungry sh-i/ts who did not care about Trin and would be furious if she did not EV fast enough, leading to real arguments in chat. Which leads me to the next part. Trinity. I used to be the Energy Vampire Trin most of the time, because NO ONE COULD HANDLE THE PRESSURE of feeding your team. So teams were 3/4 full in chat, just advertising for EV Trins. I did it so much, that I had my own loadout ready for Draco. I'd honestly bring a Sniper rifle just so I could see far into the distance and try to hit 2 (EV) as much as humanly possible. But in the end, you are a hostage to RNG and random enemy spawning, so 80% of the time I simply could not aim the mouse crosshair on the enemy and press 2 to EV before it was blasted by the manic Excal. Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap! You cannot best that! Finding enemies alive to EV was no easy task, let me tell you. And if you reading this, if you are a veteran who would only play Excal and spam Javelin without consideration for your Trin, know I hate your guts. Just saying. Nothing personal. I would not even stand crammed on the same box as everyone else (as seen on 3:13) because Excals would BLOCK MY VIEW with his swinging animations, so I'd usually jump to the left of the box on to a pipe higher up. Better view, no interruptions. Oh, and if you brought a low strenght Excal to begin with, you'd be nailed to a cross by the other 2 team members. I've seen countless low level Excals who couldn't keep up with the enemy waves, even with Rhino's aid. Players were relentless back then. So much stress, so much angry arguing... over a game... And then Radial Javelin was nerfed. But players already had the next best thing ready to use at Draco again, and that was Saryn's Miasma before it too was nerfed, meaning the nuke would ignore walls. So once again, we'd go to Draco and stand at the center of the map, but this time the group was Saryn (nuke), Rhino (buff), a random leech player, and MAG. Mag's "Pull" back then worked different, and she would suck in the entire map's worth of items right under her feet, so players didn't even need to move in order to loot. It was glorious. So, yeah. I'm actually glad Draco's party was done. I cannot say I have fond memories of joining public groups because of those cocky Excals who could not go 5 seconds without Trin replenishing their energy reserves. Geez... Hope you liked the text. Have fun, Tenno.
Lmao of course it’s Glenn who avoided the drop rate question, the infamous “if you use rhino, bolter prime, and carrier vacuum you’re casual” he dropped still lives in my head. Honestly the only Dev I outright dislike, even if Scott is a bit of a liar as well with his “I put in universal vacuum but didn’t tell anyone so clearly no one wanted it”
I remember the Stephano+max range Excalibur farm before the nerf lol, funny we can still do the same thing today with other frames on other maps with better efficiency too, making that particular nerf pointless.
Anyone miss the old Corpus CQB Ship tiles? I wish they kept those at Venus, at least, since it's a low level planet and at endgame it wouldn't even matter about the Granum Crowns, especially since you need to do the Deadlock Protocol to start getting them. Phobos could have easily been the easy Granum farm.
I love the videos, and they are crucial for preservation. Love how the channel name has two separate frames (nova and excal), with your logo (and video sprites) being the Harrow Deluxe. Keep it up!
The VFX for Radial Javelin gives me some minor PTSD... I seriously can't believe Draco lasted as long as it did considering how PAINFULLY boring it was and toxic it could be Edit: Audio FX not VFX
Played e-gate back in the day, on a PS4 that doesn't support macros. So yeah, boring. You missed more than a few Meta cheats we'd do along these lines. Especially in the void for void drops. Good catch on the derelicts. Almost forgot using Banshee, mostly for radar damage, but in a couple of tilesets, quake. Mostly Defense and Survival as you noted. Good times.
I've left lots of stuff out as originally this was gonna be over 90 minutes long but uhhh lmao I wasn't gonna make another super long video just after my Ash but definitely a part 2 is people are interested
@@NovaUmbral Completely understood. Typical team was speed Nova, trinity, Mag, and I suddenly forget the 4th, Yeah, there were lots of them. You covered all aspects of them well here.
"...things change. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worst." \*shows Corpus Ship defense map* I haven't even been around long enough to see it changed, but whatever this map used to be before, I'd rather have that.
The ratchet and clank music is bringing back memories 😂😂
I KNEW IT SOUNDED FAMILIAR
Lmao of course it’s Glenn who avoided the drop rate question, the infamous “if you use rhino, bolter prime, and carrier vacuum you’re casual” he dropped still lives in my head. Honestly the only Dev I outright dislike, even if Scott is a bit of a liar as well with his “I put in universal vacuum but didn’t tell anyone so clearly no one wanted it”
Still missing that old corpus defense with the lift at the start, its been so long that I forgot.
THey took away my commemorative fusion cores :c
Love the RaC soundtrack, still my favorite series
I spent many hours in my early days of warframe farming on draco & akkad.
Bruh activating some "back in my day" memories...
I miss old apollodoras, early affinity farm where any weapon can shine since it was a survival at level 1
The only ones i was around for was hieracon and the emergence of akkad and hydron. Although i never did the interception node for affinity.
I love the videos, and they are crucial for preservation. Love how the channel name has two separate frames (nova and excal), with your logo (and video sprites) being the Harrow Deluxe. Keep it up!
Holy shit that thumbnail is INSANE
Thanks! :3
I love the archwing surprised why they it didn’t get a lot of traction tho
I remember draco... but i didn't use it much sense it got nerfed around when i found it.
I used to farm Akkad for credits with my clan. It always had a tiny tileset.
Speaking of forgotten things, don't think you can just slip that OG Ratchet and Clank metropolis theme in the background without me noticing.
give back the corpus old styling maps...
Was kinda thinking the deception game mode would have least been mentioned
Salvage would be among these if you weren't forced to do it for the Anniversary missions and do it for normal Nidus farming.
People still sit in Hydron and that still blows my mind.
Love the historical videos - ever thought of doing one on the history of eidolon farming?
Damn this brought me back
I miss the old Io tileset defence mission
ah original Xini. during the days of Goddess Nyx (permanent chaos)
Can you make a video about solar rails or clan vs clan stuff in general
I keep seing it beint mentioned but never engaged with it back then
This brings back memories
>Forgotten Gamemodes
>Only mentioning old farming place, not an actual old gamemode
I miss playing Mag.
I miss old IO
i miss Draco interception.... a fun map.... r.i.p.
Forgotten game mode - Everything in the void. Also "raid" gamemode and trials.
Really sad nothing about the raids :(
The raids were buggy but goated
The VFX for Radial Javelin gives me some minor PTSD... I seriously can't believe Draco lasted as long as it did considering how PAINFULLY boring it was and toxic it could be
Edit: Audio FX not VFX
Bro this brings me back lol
e gate, oh how i miss you
Maybe I got fucked up but my cousin had me going to Kappa on Saturn which was mobile def for affinity back in update 10
Did i imagine thing but were there status duration mod for your warframe ?
Every times i play Vauban everyone sey "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA MY EYESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RIP Draco ;_;
Yay, ratchet and clank ps2 music
Good ol draco
Part 2 plz!
no star rail dark sectors?
I still have like 2 mil nano spores from Akkad 🤣🤣🤣
Rip Akkad,Draco,Hydron
Hydron is still popular tho
Idk about akkad since I haven't played it in years but hydron is still popular and great to this day
What was that in 3:36 and how can I get it?
What about frame fighter?
"...things change. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worst." \*shows Corpus Ship defense map*
I haven't even been around long enough to see it changed, but whatever this map used to be before, I'd rather have that. The current multi-level setup coupled with the dogshit enemy AI is just straight-up terrible.
Can you do a video on ivara
this guy's pfp wilding
@@HeatInheritLove your videos, lmao
💀
Wait, so interception doesnt exist anymore ?
The _CONCLAVE_
I want a real warframe fighting game
these are called maps, not gamemodes
I miss tower keys.
why this guy sound like he from the balkans lowkey
Bro uses "Ability Name Popup"
