0:11 The RTX 3070 Ti on the specs should be 125-150W, as is the case everywhere else.
2:14 Nvidia driver 512.15 apparently fixes the advanced optimus brightness issue (came out after the review was made) however I have tested this on the 5i Pro and confirmed that it does not fix the issue.

Hey jarrod, i have just discovered how to (may be) fix the screen dimming issue when using advanced optimus dgpu mode. The solution here is to go in to window setting and display setting and turn on HDR, simple as that :)). The screen now go back to 497 nits(on my legion 7i 2021) and it's also apply the hdr effect like on optimus but the screen is now at maximum brightness like default, hope you check that out if it's work on your legion models.

Recieved my Legion 7 (5800h, 3070) and i love it! Changed RAM to 2x16Gb 2Rx8, put 2tb SSD and using it with external 3840x1600 monitor 👍! Found guide where now i can enable or disable `turbo boost` feature in power plan settings (there are guide via registry) and now my CPU is working at 3175mhz all cores, temps dropped by 15`C and on LOW settings at ext monitor resolution in BF1 and BFV temps are 67`C GPU, 72`C CPU 👍 at 80-120fps (G-Sync is Enabled too) ❤! GPU is using 115w power (Silent mode) and with CPU turbo boost disabled, when i change to Performance mode - ONLY GPU power changes to 130W+ 👍!
P.S. My laptop display got some white spots at down side of screen, i think its from plastic frame but i can see them only on black screen, so its ok! Tested temps with closed and opened screen - the same (mby 1`C difference).
One VERY big cooons - i need to open laptop to turn it ON...no button on side (like some other laptops have)... Looking for option (mby Wake on LAN via my mobile phone) but havent time for this...
Jarrod, please make good guide with soft for android HOW TO ENABLE Lenovo Legion laptop via WAKE ON LAN option.

Please try to consider thought of students , they need more budget friendly mid range (gaming) laptops costs between 1000$ - 1100$.

Glad Lenovo employed the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" method with this device. There are some bugs, but this appears to be one of the best laptops of the year. But if gaming is the use case, last year's model at a discount would be preferable

For this class of desktop replacement laptop, I'd rather have an overspecced PSU than an underpowered one even if it increases the carry weight so I agree with Lenovo's reasoning for bundling the 300w supply.

Last year there were issues with the HDMI 2.1 port, as while it was capable of 4k 120hz, it only managed it in 8-bit color rather than 10-bit, due to bandwith limitations. Has it changed? (I don't think it's a huge issue, but it's still something to keep in mind).

I'd love an additional gaming measure: fan noise level and surface temps in the different performance modes after 30min of idling in a demanding game like Hitman 3 in native resolution and max settings.
This would help a lot understanding the usability of the laptop for gaming. The stress test measures are worst case measures that do not really reflect what we will get in everyday usage.

Jarrod if you go into the Nvidia Control Panel and go to the top under the "desktop" menu you can place a GPU "selector" into the hidden icons on the taskbar. Must easier and more convenient way to switch GPUs on the fly since NV Control Panel can take awhile to open sometimes.

This laptop has been great for me so far! The only gripe I have is the refresh rate toggle. Lenovo's 'Fn+R' doesn't work at all even when the panel has the ability to run at 60Hz and 165Hz, and it gets quite annoying having to launch Nvidia Control Panel to change it every time (Especially when you take it off wall power a lot). I had to download HRC Resolution Changer to resolve it with a macro.

@@TrackDaysDude I don't use Chrome personally as it eats way too much RAM for my liking. But no, there's little to no fan noise when using applications like Chrome that aren't heavy on CPU/GPU usage.
If you're watching a 4K stream on Chrome or something, you may hear the fans turn on, but it won't be loud at all

@@TrackDaysDude Lenovo seems to use the same fan bearing as last year's, with improvement on blade fin size, so yeah the fan IS AUDIBLE on idle, you can hear it, but barely, only audible in a dead silent midnight,
But beware, there's a wide spread complaint of a very audible high tone Humm coming from the fan bearing when it spin at its lowest rpm, it is confirmed to be a defect and Lenovo will replace it for free.
I am one of those unlucky ones with problematic touchpad and audible Humm coming from both fan, I brought it to Lenovo service center and so far its been normal, touchpad working great, and the fans isn't giving me high tone Humm noise anymore, it's still spins at idle though, still giving me a barely audible whoosh noise, I don't mind it though, great laptop nonetheless

I bought this exact laptop in early March from the Lenovo UK store for 1750 GBP (without any codes applied, others have got it for as low as 1480 GBP) and I am just amazed at how well it performs. Everything is lightning quick, the laptop has 0 QC issues (apart from a slight trackpad rattle in the bottom right hand corner) and the gaming performance is incredible. The screen is gorgeous, the keyboard is great, fan noise is basically non-existent and the laptop looks like a professional device (maybe apart from the gamery feel of the backside where the ports are). @@TrackDaysDude Fan noise is barely audible even with multiple (15+) chrome tabs open. On idle it is silent and even when under load the fan noise is more than tolerable both intensity wise and sound wise (no whistling or high pitched noise). Of course quiet mode makes it even quieter but I find it slows down everything slightly. Not by much, it's just things aren't instant when under load as they are in auto or performance mode.

Battery lasts maybe an hour with battery saver, 60hz, low brightness, integrated graphics etc. Personally I use it as a desktop replacement and move it around from time to time (from my house to my girlfriend's for example) so I'm okay with the battery life but it would be nice to have the option of going somewhere without a power supply and being able to use my laptop.

And with GPU prices dropping rapidly, I think we'll see start seeing laptop prices drop as well. Demand for laptops were higher in 2021 because you couldnt get a GPU at a reasonable price.

I bought this model with the i7-12700H and RTX3070 Ti in June from Lenovo UK and discovered the LCD display to suffer from really bad IPS Glow and screen bleeding. The machine overall is good apart from the screen issue. However I really need to emphasize that Lenovo is really bad with their customer service from the onset of purchase up to dealing with my issue with the LCD screen. It is a shame because the laptop is a solid machine but Lenovo as a consumer company is utterly shambolic. They had me waited more than a week to deliver the laptop after purchase while they promised next day delivery. I contacted them about the IPS Glow and they sent a technician to my address to carry out repair. Long story short, it took them three attempts and on the last attempt their technician ended up scratching my laptop and leaving bulges on the bezels. To top it off, I sent the laptop to them under premium care to get it fixed and the received the laptop a week ago and have not started work and ignoring my emails. A fair warning to everyone, avoid LENOVO if you don't want to go through this nightmare.

One big problem I had with the Lenovo Vantage GPU modes was that the Hybrid and Performance Modes makes the GPU unusable in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro. I had to put it on Balanced Mode and uncheck that additional option. Took me awhile to figure out that those GPU modes were the culprit.

Unfortunately, my first experience with Lenovo (Legion 7 16" AMD) has not been great. Touchpad failure 2 weeks in and Lenovo support hasn't been very helpful. Just taking me on a ride through their checklist. I will be sending the laptop back. I can't see myself going for another Lenovo laptop anytime soon. Anyone interested in Legion laptops, just beware the reliability and preferably purchase from a shop where you have walk-in returns as purchasing directly from Lenovo and dealing with their staff is a headache.

Support has been GREAT. I only had very minor touchpad issues after 1yr 2mos, and they replaced it after 5 days with email approval. I called them 2 months later for laptop cleaning services (it was still under warranty, didnt feel the need to open it myself), and they came by, cleaned the fans, and even repasted it with thermal grizzly kryonaut.
