Credit/acknowledgements are like apologies. If they're hard to find, it probably means you're trying to hide them because you think you did nothing wrong. Like creators putting apology videos on secondary platforms or channels so they don't accidentally alert someone still in the dark that they did something wrong by putting it on the main channel. I'm betting that note is in the second book because someone in the publishing house got wind of the situation and was like "legally I need you to do this" because the publisher didn't want to be liable.

If you look at the images side by side its such blatant theft and I hate that someone that I considered Iconic stole from a bunch of small creators and didn't get called out on it.

As an artist myself, one who has had work stolen, used without credit, resold, etc, this really speaks to me, and I am just as passionate about it as well. I have also reached out to Cherisa and sent her my sympathies for her situation and got a really sweet and thankful response from her as well. She seems like a genuinely good, creative person who's just out there living her life like any of the rest of us. Yes, we can't know for sure absolutely what has or hasn't taken place, but I think it's very obvious from all the information and evidence we have now that it's *very likely* that the events as described from Cherisa are probably accurate. It fits a pattern, and there's much more evidence for than against it. And that being said, it's very sad. Very sad for the creative minds not getting proper credit without having to completely twist Gabbie's arm to get it (Gabbie provided latent credit to siblings in a newer book for work used in an older one but in a very snide, forced sort of way). She should be proud of and grateful for creative siblings who inspired her, not trying to eclipse their accomplishments and claim them as her own. It feels great to share the spotlight and lift others up. I can say this from personal experience as a member of the art community with a number of wonderfully skilled, creative friends, many of whom create works far more impressive than my own. They are an inspiration and support system for me and vice versa. It doesn't have to be this ugly, catty, cutthroat way of life that Gabbie seems to be stuck in. She's limiting herself and hurting others in the process because her ego is too fragile to allow her to admit that she has had help and inspiration from others. It's a very sad and damaging state of affairs.

No matter what style of art, poetry, illustrations, film or in my case silversmithing, copying movie films is illegal yet people stealing others art isn't? SO INFURIATING to have someone steal your ideas and profit from it. So I deeply appreciate your side rant about that.
It's so annoying to have concepts and designs taken... Something like that happened to me a while ago between me and an ex-friend and it still frustrates me to this day. What makes it worse is that this ex-friend of mine took my concept designs for some twitch emotes and PAID another person to make them. I didn't even get a mention when they unveiled the emotes. This ex-friend now sells merch with these emotes. It's such an awful situation. Gabbie needs to give her sister the compensation she deserves.

If we couldn’t put our own spin on existing ideas most things would ultimately be credited to the ancient Greeks (for example) as the original Greek plays spanned many themes that have reappeared in numerous mediums for thousands of years. So I’m by no means a legal expert (I’m also in the US) but it’s my understanding that one cannot own an idea/concept, you can only own the specific expression of that idea. If we couldn’t put our own spin on existing ideas most things would ultimately be credited to the ancient Greeks (for example) as the original Greek plays spanned many themes that have reappeared in numerous mediums for thousands of years. I hope that made sense lol
