You were the right person to make a 3d good level for GD. You were working on 3d from wayy before 2.2 so its only natural you made the *mythic* rated 3d level.
@@TheCoriKat no shit of course i don’t mean 100% animation but the only ‘3D’ stuff that isnt frame by frame is in the first 3 parts and of that alot of it is still frame by frame animated. Not calling it unimpressive, but just saying that it is world apart from actual 3d
Computer Engineering student here, your explanations were very very good for how painfully complex 3D rendering can get, amazing video! I had tried looking at the level in the editor before to learn how it could work but it kept crashing as I have a very low spec phone as my playing device and can barely run the level. There's likely a few optimization to be done with the system you made but this is legitimately some of the coolest trigger applications I've seen in a good while! It's super cool how you made the entire system public and explained the major steps for it, thank you! Very well edited video and insight of the idea, hoe I can get a better device to run the level one day! Wishing you a very great time on university, stuff shown on 11:21 deserves a trigger warning the compiling classes I had are still reoccurring nightmares
@Nemo_2510 Yeah, a lot of the stuff we learn is super cool but it takes forever to get used to the basics and use it on cooler things! Hope you enjoy it lots!
I loved playing the level. Love to see all the maths and programming that you don’t usually get to see for the process in making this much higher end levels. Which are more insane projects now. Awesome to see what the GD editor is actually capable of
seems to not be really required because i checked the code and it seems to have alot of comments which give all the information about any function in the code. Also im working on upgrading NEdit so it will be easier to use for me.
The fact that I was able to understand nearly everything in this video amazes me. Also still really impressive that you even discovered this. Huge props and I hope the minigame creating scene further advances technological capabilities and pushing this game’s limit once more. ❤
spwn is horrible to use atm, Nedit was made for his purpose specifically, but G.js is also pretty good and supports nearly all 2.2 triggers with a SPWN-like syntax
Such an amazing video. You explained really well on how does the level's 3D nature works, didn't know I needed this video so much and I will be eagerly awaiting more.
wow, abusing triggers to get around the matrix stuff for 3d rendering is so smart you have quite the amount of brain cells, really awesome level and video :D
creator points are temporary, bragging rights are forever :p this is seriously incredibly impressive, drawing separate layered triangles like this is how super early 3d games worked, really really cool
I know I don’t know what I’m talking about but wouldn’t it be better for the title to be something along the lines of “How I added 3D to Geometry Dash”, “How I added 3D to a 2D game” etc. Currently you can assume that that’s what “3Depth” is based on the thumbnail and just common sense. But it still seems like it’s just limiting the audience to people who know of 3Depth when you could be reaching a tremendously larger audience. Idk that’s just what I thought when I saw the title
It's insane how smoothly the project went despite the inherent difficulty of making SO MUCH complicated mechanics and systems... Not only are you extremely talented, but also very efficient. Amazing job in finishing the project and not burning yourself out to death _(like some other mad scientist 3D effects creator I can name...)_ *10:30* Okay that's so funny and spot on, I couldn't agree more... This is becoming my new quote for those silly ''why is [X] mythic and [Y] is not'' complainers!
How you solved the proper side layering is smart! That was what I was wondering on how you did that. I knew that things can render in an order when triggered by the collision block, but the instant (but proper ordered) rendering by making a long collision block is actually really smart
I would recommend switching to triangles instead of squares for rendering, most rendering uses tris to process planes already because quads are harder to make more complex shapes out of. Switching to tris would just be future proofing
