Quick tip for marking where to drill. If you find yourself a paint marker or a dive stick you can put some right on the pin and it will Mark the exact spot and how big it needs to be when you set the hood down on it.
Tip, use a white paint marker, and put it on top of the bolt. Then after you set hood down wipe off quickly to remove paint from bolt. You’re drilling through hood anyways so don worries about paint mark
Nice to see an install video like this. I'd need the pins in case the latch on a hood breaks, since my remote start and factory immobilizer won't arm unless the hood is latched.
ive been over 200mph in 3 different cars, one i owned, never once have i seen hoods flying open. guessing this is one of those solutions without a problem
should have used the grease trick. Put a dab of white lithium grease on the top of the pin and lightly close the hood. Then you have a white mark where your pins need to be.
I don't kno if my other question made it up but I kno if u crack through carbon fiber clear and touch another metal to it it starts to rust so I'm still kinda lost on the carbon fiber hoods and hood pins install if u could answer it would be much appreciated
Can you make a video on the correct way to do a 98-01 conversion etc? My bumper wont fit on all the way and passenger side is uneven, idk what im doing wrong
Factory hood-latches & aftermarket latches are not to be trusted 100%...all it takes, is one failure to experience a failed hood-latch at speed to make a believer in hood-pins...Just why car designers created forward lifting hoods is beyond me...just waiting for the one time to fail...
Put toothpaste on top of the pin. Lower hood then the paste will mark the drill spot.
Guy kept drifting haha
lol, i actually have hood pins... i just kinda sorta forgot to latch them before my run..
I put some hood pins on my 1999 Geo Metro, just never know when that hood gonna take off at 65mph
Hoodpins look beast anyway!!
Don't you need to add some sort of sealant to the drilled areas to protect the Carbon Fiber from moisture?
Quick tip for marking where to drill. If you find yourself a paint marker or a dive stick you can put some right on the pin and it will Mark the exact spot and how big it needs to be when you set the hood down on it.
just a tip to try, when marking where you need the holes to be made on the actual hood just put a dab of paint in the rods and close the hood
I suggest toothpaste to mark the holes. Dab a little on top shut the hood on the pins and then the toothpaste will mark where you ought to drill
Need to remember this when I find a light weight hood for my car.
My hood just flew up at the drag races smashed a lot of damage bringing me to this video!!! If you are in and out of you engine bay get them!
Very nice tutorial. You can't beat old school pins. Love it.
Japanese car? Use flush pins. Muscle car? Use old school pins.
These old integras are looking sexier and sexier every year. The pendulum swing is coming back.
Did noone else notice the secondary "way" joke at 0:35? lol
i like the flush mount hood pins, they look better than the old school style

The hood pins. Makes the car looks a little more dope!
The latch is BONDED on?! I thought it was bolted on. No wonder hood pins are necessary!
Nice to see an install video like this. I'd need the pins in case the latch on a hood breaks, since my remote start and factory immobilizer won't arm unless the hood is latched.
You should epoxy the raw edges on the carbon fiber so it doesn't break down with moisture
this is real nice. I have understood the primary function of these hoodpins. Thanks.
ive been over 200mph in 3 different cars, one i owned, never once have i seen hoods flying open. guessing this is one of those solutions without a problem
Unless you use a secondary WAWAY to latch them.
your guys videos are awesome been a customer since 2003, thanks a bunch!
I found that a little dab of white grease on each pin and resting the hood on them is more accurate than using a sharpie
Big gap on the left corner !!
thanks for the video took me about 2 hours i did my pickup a bit different didnt have holes ,
Omg its HEISENBERG!!!!!
Sorry, not even.
you could also put a little tooth paste on the hood pins instead of using a sharpie then rest the hood on it to mark where you drill the hole.
I think the flush version is better as it won't rust and looks more discrete.
I measured once and cut twice.
6:34 RIP earphone wearers
looks clean... do you guys have a side marker install video???
If you use a PCD bit you dont see any fraying on the fibers...
I'm making some at work. Stainless steel hood pins;)
Nice video
Every day with internet we learn something
Can you guys do a video on hood scoops?
That Integra really makes me miss my GSR.
should have used the grease trick. Put a dab of white lithium grease on the top of the pin and lightly close the hood. Then you have a white mark where your pins need to be.
so, does one simply discard the wiper fluid sprayers?
use white grease on the top ofyour pins to mark the spots, much easier.
Do you have any videos or pictures of carbon fiber hood pins on a carbon fiber hood?
Does the pin rattle? Will it rust over a period of time? :).. tq
I don't kno if my other question made it up but I kno if u crack through carbon fiber clear and touch another metal to it it starts to rust so I'm still kinda lost on the carbon fiber hoods and hood pins install if u could answer it would be much appreciated
Found this very useful! Now I know how 😎
great video, very concise..subbed!
Can you make a video on the correct way to do a 98-01 conversion etc? My bumper wont fit on all the way and passenger side is uneven, idk what im doing wrong
Will these be good if the hood doesnt have a latch ?
Yep!
Instead of using the marker using tooth paste and put it on the hood pin and it will leave a mark on the hood
your videos help me so much !
I feel like you would have been better off backing those rivets with washers before popping in place
You can put toothpaste on the pins when you are seeing where to drill the holes instead of marking it with a sharpie
Where can i get those clear headlights ?
Will they fit on my Honda?
You probably wont notice any rattling and that metal looks like stainelss steel :)
i love this show
Great video!
they look cool
Sonoma Raceway / Infineon raceway from the drifters clip.
great tutorial!
this will be useful
how aout a project integra air "intake" video? and cold air intake vs short ram?
Make a how --side markers video please
so anyone can open your hood then?
Heyyy dat looks pretty goood

Can I buy this Integra
YEAH drifting!!
What kind of rivets do you use for example stainless steel , aluminum, exedra?
I bought an audi with hood pins and i hate them because whenever you pull them out you scratch the hood.
Yeah they just pull straight out to the side. I cleaned them up with a wire brush and oiled them so it doesn't happen so often anymore.
What size wheels are on that integra
NONONO this is why you need hood pins!!
RICER HONDA SIR EPIC FAIL
GET THEM
Ahaha that was at sonoma!
5:47 Been listing to Drake too much?
a n x i e t y k i c k e d i n
I have 3 latches so there's no need for hood pins :)
im hoodless, fenderless. go bucket T! lol
@ 07:41, look at that gap. Yikes!
He used the most generic hood pins tho
Just use a ratchet strap lol
