      @tonym3598 Yes - I had a 98 and loved it. I’m sure it’s doing very well in queens ny - the family I sold to. I still have my 2001 and have enough faith in it to; do a new timing belt, new struts. They are good cars.

    My '01 Avalon XLS has 252k miles and still runs great. I have several cars, but this is my daily driver. My interior has aged very little. The dashboard material is also superior to that of the 2005-10 Avalons which tend to crack. I just wish they had of used more up to date instrument cluster lighting considering it was the top of the line Toyota. Seemed to be outdated, even for 2001. I had to have my valve cover gaskets replaced around 240k miles and still think I have a minor leak at the rear seal. Also my timing belt is due again, so a little maintenance due, but overall a quality and well built car.

    The ride quality on these are incredible. Has same motor as Lexus ES300/RX300 and is roomier. I've owned 2 of these and would gladly buy a 3rd. There is only 1 vehicle I'd rather have on highway than this during this time frame, the LS430, but that is generally twice as much. Perfect highly comfortable commuter car. Buy the 03-04, best years.

      @@42luke93 Nope, I've driven newer ones, I just never liked the interiors from 05-12. I know the 3.5 motor is a great motor though, wife's highlander had that motor. I about bought a 13 avalon, but the dealer couldn't find it on their lot when I came in to test drive it, so I ended up buying a 2019 4runner instead, HAHA. 01-04, the ride is so soft, it's incredible, sure are boring looking though. Toyota seems to get sedans right. Hard to believe how no more American companies make them too. Now they dominate Minivans and Sedans!
      Good to know about that info with the older Avalons. I hope one day I get a chance to ride in one.
      Although I wish the thing with the front split bench seating and column shifter. As well as the lack of sportiness wasn’t ditched. Never have rode in the 2019 Avalons. Maybe UBer will give me the chance to ride in one.

      Chris Definitely a solid choice for a first car. It pulls well through the first gear, but you’ll start getting beat in second so by no means is it a race car. It is however super reliable for a V6, Ive pushed the car to its limits and never had any issues, just keep it maintained and it will last you as long as you need. Aside from a 92 Camry, all the vehciles I've ever owned have always had the column shifter. I didn't have the Camry but 6 months before giving it up to my father and taking the money from the sale of my 87 F-150 to buy a beat up (but fun to drive) 91 Ranger. I never intend to have another vehicle with the shifter in the floorboard. I would like a Column shift accident free Avalon with under 100k miles on it, but it seems I stand a better chance of finding another affordable well cared for column shift pickup truck than I do finding a column shift Avalon.

    I have a 2001 Avalon. There aren’t any tags on the back, but since it has a sunroof I’m going to assume it is an sxl. The leather is very worn, but what is worse is that the previous owner, my stepmother, did not take care of it. It needs two new catalytic converters, the y pipe is cracked, the front bumper is trashed, the parking brake doesn’t work, and a few other problems. It’s sitting on wooden logs right now and it’s just a sad lump of tin that won’t even start

    I'd rather have this than my LeSabre. The only good thing about it is the 3.8 V6-- everything else is junk.

    How is this compared to the Lincoln Town Car?

    • @stevethecatcrx1
      @stevethecatcrx1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The avalon will have better reliability, plastics, fuel economy but most importantly it handles significantly better and more stably than the Lincoln. The toyota will be alot easier to park as it is much easier to tell where your corners are. The Lincoln will have more interior room though. Also the ride will be a step up in road isolation.

      If there's nothing major wrong with it that is an insane steal. To the point that the price is suspicious. Definitely make SURE there's nothing major wrong with it
