    Fun fact: these came with front bench seats and a column shifter. They're very rare though.

    The Japanese Buick. These were retired peoples' cars. These were targeting full-size cars like the Panther-platform cars and Buicks, which is why it had the bench seat/column shift option. You can see the Lexus trickle-down in the interior. This is from when luxury meant space, soft seats and soft suspension. Why must every luxury car now also be a performance car with rock hard seats and sharp steering?

    • @damilolaakanni
      @damilolaakanni 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Blame the "woke" new car reviewers for that one. They expect every new luxury sedan to handle and drive like a RWD BMW. Soft luxury car rides are all but limited now to the S class and Rolls Royce, both of which are way too expensive for everyone.

      @@damilolaakanni Woke is a weird word to use. I'm queer and liberal, and drive a Buick LaCrosse. Don't blame us for the daddys money frat bros who want everything to be a 3-series.

      @@iluvcamaros1912hahaha. U r so correct about that! Woke?? I've never heard a liberal say it. It's a word said and used by the right winger radicals thrown at the democrats. The dems are like..."what...I've never heard or said their word???". But being "woke" must mean you aren't asleep. Wtf? Reverse psychology.

    I own a 2000 Avalon XLS. Leather interior, in great shape, 130,000 miles, runs like a dream. What sold me was that swooping dash! The moment I saw I thought," Star Trek!". TOS of course.

    I was gifted a 2003 xl with cloth bench seats (love the column shifter) from a relative who was hanging up the car keys. It has 100k and looks almost new; no rust, super clean inside and under the hood. I am not sure if anything was ever in the trunk. I had the timing belt and water pump replaced, along with the cam and crank seals and the valve cover gaskets.

    • @isaac24
      @isaac24 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, they did a facelift that I don't like. Plus, it got those HIDEOUS 5 spoke wheels that the V6 Camry got, some of the ugliest wheels of all time.

      Just sold my 2017 Volkswagen Passat r line for a 2003 Toyota Avalon XL. I love the vehicle. The leather seats are super comfortable, the JBL system is really nice, the interior is upscale and quiet, and the ride is fantastic. Definitely a good buy if you're looking for an affordable reliable luxury vehicle.

    • @isaac24
      @isaac24 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fakejeepman06 Yes they put these god-awful 5 spoke wheels on the V6 Camry and the 03 and 04 Avalon. They are probably my least favorite wheels in this world, and that includes all the gang-mobiles with the 90" chrome rims that screw up the car.

    I actually owned a 2002 Avalon XL, the only difference was that it had a front split bench seat, with leather interior. You would slide around with every turn. I called it the “Boat”

  • @Arrozconchopsticks
    @Arrozconchopsticks ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Ive had my 03 XLS for nearly 4 years. Tightened up the ride a bit with a whiteline swaybar etc as im typically into sportier cars, but it is a very reliable and comfortable car. After dailying my E90 3 Series for months and jumped back in the Avalon, it was like i could melt in it. The a/c is extremely dependable and cold.

    Aw man Zack, you got the base model 😂
    Since I'm so far away I'll make a comparison video between the one you reviewed & my fully-loaded version.
    Honestly, the difference between a base model Avalon & a fully-loaded Avalon feels bigger than the difference between a base model Avalon & a fully-loaded Camry.

      I just bought an 03 Avalon, love it ❤️. It's suprisingly quick 😳. Unfortunately it's a floor shifter but it's still awesome. It's pretty clean inside but it could use some touching up. There are a few big dents but for 3300 and 164k I think it's a pretty good deal.
