Nazis May Have Founded Sweden's Rising Political Party (HBO)

  • Sweden's far-right populists won their biggest ever share of the vote in Sunday's general elections, underlining how immigration has reshaped politics even in one of Europe’s most tolerant democracies.
Although the Sweden Democrats largely set the agenda during the campaign, the far-right party made more modest gains than once feared, coming in third behind the two mainstream parties who are now scrambling to form the next government.
But while the populists may consider their 17.6 percent disappointing, after earlier polls had predicted they would finish in at least second place, analysts say the nationalist surge represents an alarming change in Sweden’s political landscape.
The populist party still won their largest ever share of the vote - up from 12.9 percent in 2014 - and successfully shifted both mainstream parties closer to their position on key issues of immigration, integration and identity.
“The mainstream has certainly moved closer to their positions,” Matthew Goodwin, visiting senior fellow in the Europe programme at the Chatham House think tank told VICE News.
Both the governing center-left Social Democrats and the center-right Moderates recorded among their worst results in modern history, with the rival blocs led by both parties left in virtually a dead heat.
With nearly all votes counted Monday, the Social Democrats, together with their allies the Greens and the Left Party, had won 40.6 percent of the vote, while the opposition centre-right Alliance was on 40.3 percent. With overseas votes yet to be counted, the center-left bloc holds 144 seats, and the center-right 143.
The country now faces weeks of uncertainty as both blocs engage in frantic horse-trading to try to form the next government.
Both of the main blocs have said they will not work with the Sweden Democrats, a party with roots in fascism and neo-Nazism, as part of a tactic to isolate the group and its populist politics.
The far-right party commanded strong polling numbers during the campaign as it hammered home its core issues of immigration, crime and integration to a voting public anxious over the arrival of 163,000 asylum seekers during the height of the migration crisis.
But after surging to first-equal in polls in mid-July, support for the populists slackened in recent weeks, as other issues gained attention - including climate change, following a summer of record high temperatures and raging wildfires.

@@alexanderbrundin7620 if this can be classified as 'propaganda', then literally all investigative journalism can fall under that very same definition.
which, sure, if that's what you wanna do, is fine. however, i find that the word 'propaganda' has a very specific meaning (mostly referring to selective, biased, or blatantly false information spread by a government instead of actors inside of a free market), and just calling a video by vice propaganda because you had a negative emotional response to a video they made that you disagree with the implications of, kind of destroys the meaning of that word - simply having a political bias as a news organisation, something pretty much all independent news organisations have, doesn't make your organisation a publisher of propaganda. on the contrary, I'd argue that it's important to press freedom and an important part of democracy. this applies especially to vice who, as a news organisation, has also done investigative journalism on the autonomous left in sweden, as well as extreme leftist organisations in other nations.
news organisations that more closely fall under a more appropriate definition of propaganda are Russia Today, China Central Television, or Telesur.

Honestly increased immigration is actually racist. Why? Because by taking people from other countries you insure that those countries never grow or develop at the pace of the west. By poaching all their human capital, good or bad, it forestalls the pressure for political change and depletes the country of brainpower.
When France won the World Cup everybody complained that it was not really France because the players were mostly African. The left celebrates the diversity but what’s really happening is that France is poaching Africa’s top talent (or their parents). Thus insuring that no African nation will ever win a World Cup. Good job!

Because the first generation of immigrants are a whole lot better and well integrated in the Swedish society, these new immigrants are coming in huge waves and a country that are in a need of a well based welfare will not be good with 80.000 people migrating to Sweden per year.

They only say it in public for social status, and that is why sweden's politics are rotten to the core in the first place, as soon as there is controversy involved.
Funnily enough, our democracy seems to be a very well-oiled machine regarding much of the otherwise mundane day-to-day issues of society, so clearly we're onto something here. Just need to figure out this thing about irrational people voting based on anything other than objective assessment, based on information they don't have. When is the last time you felt like you could confidently say you stand behind one of the political parties in the majority of the issues addressed?
On top of that, just like any democratic society, media is what controls public opinion, so i guess our country is governed by Bonniers AB , as well as these "political rockstars" whose legitimacy is based on how much press they make. How are you gonna vote for or against a party that you don't know exists?

They didn't get nearly a fifth of the votes because the number of Swedish White nationalists sudenly skyrocketed, they got all those votes from the average Swedish civic nationalist who were fed up with immigrant violence. Hate to break it to the far right, but most Whites don't care if their neighbour is of a different race. They care about the basic things like economic security and physical saftey, both of which just happen to be threatened by mass third world immigration. If the Swedish nationalists were a little brighter and not so ideologically blinded, they might have thought to focus only on what the average Swedish citizen cares about and votes for at the end of the day, they'd drop the overt White nationalist message and at the very least disguise it as civic nationalism.

Mr. I wasn't implying that it wasn't. What I am pointing out is that White nationalists aren't in favour of any Non-White immigration on principal, where as that turns the majority of White folk off who are only concerned with immigration (Non-White or otherwise) to the degree that it negatively impacts their comfort. Now you can try to make the case to these people any ammount of Non-White immigration will negatively impact their comfort, but even if you could deep down convince a part lf them, they have a surprisingly high tollerance. Like really suprising given how bad it's gotten, and your side didn't even get a 1/5th of the vote with over 1/4th of the population being immigrants. Do the math on that, you think that trend scales in your favour? By the time you get more than half of the White vote, it won't be near enouh to turn back the tide.

All I'm asking for personally is that our governments use tax incentives and controlled immigration to keep whites at above 80% of the populations of our countries. No violence or swastikas or anything like that. The only reason that's a contentious thing is due to literal brainwashing to convince whites that it's bad to look out for their own interests.

There is no doubt that countries who struggle with flow of immigration from different cultures need to make some adjustments to their policy. Many times those problems lie in the lack of proper assimilation programs. Therefore these issues need to be addressed as soon as possible. Crucial thing in this process is to avoid undesirable tensions that might occur when drastic, wrong measures are applied.
On the other side, there can be observed a tendency within media groups, some ONGs etc to reprehend that kind of attempts, of whatever the nature, what is nothing more than naive and absurd way of looking at reality.

    • @sandercohen5543
      @sandercohen5543 ปีที่แล้ว +1

...and the way to get this done in a democratic society is to encourage discussion on the issue by putting it in the limelight - something that has been impossible due to the enormous stigma even mentioning immigration has had in this country for a number of years now. There simply has not been any constructive, political discussion on the issue in media, in schools, or indeed even among families and friends. It has been far too polarizing, and the result is more fuel to the fire for radical movements on both sides of the discussion. I have relatives who don't speak to me anymore because they decided that i disagree with their views, without really understanding my perspective in the first place, because it was simply too uncomfortable for them to confront the topic in public, due to social stigma. It is so disgusting, its almost like living in a pseudo-dictatorship, where the single strongest governing force is public opinion.
Lately, the swedish government even went as far as to undermine freedom of speech by outlawing certain protests, like burning the "Quran" in public. Next thing you know they're gonna make disagreeing with the ruling party a punishable offense. Why? Because they want to join a military alliance that wants to use OUR COUNTRY as a pawn against Russia, like they are doing with Ukraine. No thank you.
How is it that we remained neutral throughout the cold war, when arguably the soviet union was the greatest military force on earth, of a different ideology and political disposition as us, as well as having historical and geopolitical disputes in territory with us, AND an actual internationally recognized border? Sweden certainly was no ideological ally of the Soviets, so how come we didn't side with mainland europe, and the americans? It's because the people in power at the time knew that when push comes to shove, political alliances are of little importance, until the dust settles and there is money to be made. The interests of the scandinavian/nordic countries, and the baltic's interests are aligned, but mainland europe and the US couldn't care less about the area, if world-war 3 were to break out tomorrow.

It will lose its impact if it's continuously incorrectly overused especially if there is no clearly defined meaning as to the reason it's being used. I.e. are they being called Nazis because they believe they are superior insomeway and everyone else should be subservient to them or forcefully adopt their ideology. Hi, I’m a so called 2nd generation Swede here with parents from Africa. Swedish Democrats are founded by Nazis, but they don’t (officially) have racist policies. The openly racists within their party have left SD or been kicked out to join other more extreme groups such as AfS (ethnonationalist) and NMR (Nazis).

SD is not nationalist, not to be pedantic but you need homogeneity as a principle to be nationalist, and SD has their idea of “open Swedishness” where you just have to act and do like Swedes to be considered a Swede, I would argue in the end that’s worse than what the other parties have been doing.

I understand the humanitarian cause of helping people from war torn countries, but why do they get permanent residency? Shouldn't they go back when the war is over? If the premise for letting them come into the country is so that they avoid a threat, once that threat is gone what is the reason for permitting them to stay in the country? It doesn't make sense why they don't just have temporary stay.

I have lived in Sweden all my Life and I have never heard the Sweden Democrats express any racist or fascist ideology. The occasional member who have are no longer a part lf the party, which is something that sometimes happen to other parties as well. I still don't like SD, they are way to conservative for my taste(have you read their view on abortions?!), but even I know that it is not them who is making the parliament hard to navigate. It is the other parties who refuse to negogiate. If you want to critisize sd, then do it! But this video and many others just presents what people think of SD, not who they are and what they do.
And by the way, the title of this video is not related to anything that is said in it.
