Ultra-nationalist political parties scored unprecedented victories at the European elections, making the rise of the far-right in Europe impossible to ignore. Many of these groups, some of which are openly neo-Nazi, are gaining strength everywhere.
In Sweden, there's been a sharp rise in political violence in the country, with crimes carried out by radical groups making headlines. However, what's unusual is that one of the most violent extremist organizations in Sweden aligns itself not with Nazism and the far-right, but with anti-fascism and the far-left.
Known as the Revolutionary Front, this group of militant socialists aim to crush fascism by any means necessary. VICE News set out to try and find the Revolutionary Front, and to understand the unlikely rise of the militant far-left in Sweden.

The problem here in Sweden is refugee status. I'm a legal immigrant here in Sweden. I came from America. I support myself, am current taking SFI, voluntarily, to learn the language, and also taking in all the Swedish culture I can, (I'm married to a girl from Skåne), and have left a lot of my American ways behind me. I'll always be an American in my heart, and I'll always be proud to be American, but I respect Swedish culture and the Swedish people, and know that the correct thing for me to do here is to accept this new place and do everything I can to adapt to being in here. Now, this is where myself and many other immigrants part ways.
I tried for months to get my residence permit. After my wife and I were married, the Swedish immigration system messed up my paperwork. I was forced to go back to America. So I did. I paid for the plane tickets, flew back, and because they screwed up, had to go *back* to the back of the line, again, through no fault of my own, pay the fees for application *all over again*, and as I was told by immigration themselves, what was their mistake was now going to take them months to fix, as I had to wait through the entire process again, behind all the Syrian "refugees" that had shown up after I left. I left at the beginning of Sept and didn't get to come back to Sverige until February of the next year.
After all the expense and work to get here legally, after I got here, I found out the truth of immigration here in Sweden. I'm considered "different" than the other immigrants because I wish to integrate into Swedish society. The majority of all the "refugee" status immigrants I've met here have no intention of integrating culturally or even societally. Most of them don't give a damn about learning the language, and the majority of those that actually do go to SFI wouldn't go if they weren't being paid by services like Arbetsformedlingen to go. I want to learn the language, so I can find a job, and support myself, not to milk the Swedish system for every krona possible. I cannot say the same for many of the immigrants I've met here.
That said, they're not all terrible people. There are good immigrants coming into Sweden, ones that are here for a better life and do want to make Sweden better and assimilate into society here. And then there are those that don't. I don't know the exact statistics, but there are a lot of them that are here with no intention of blending into Swedish society, don't care about the language, don't give a damn about finding a job, and actually resent the people while milking the system of their tax money. I definitely do not think it fair for those like myself to go through trials and tribulations, spend piles of money on the process, wait for months on end, (it took just under a year to get my status all sorted out and finally get my permit, for those curious about total time to do it right), for Sweden's politicians to just to give the whole situation to someone else that only rides the train across from Copenhagen and says "I fear for my life back home. Give me all the free shit you got" and instantly gets in with very little resistance and all the help they could ever hope for.
Sweden doesn't need to close it's doors completely, but it does need to shut the back and side doors and put a guard at the front gate ready to inspect everyone as closely as they did myself and the others like me that did things the right way. Trust an American when it comes to illegal "refugee" immigrants in your country, or hell, just ask some of the Swedes in places like Malmö.. they will eventually take over areas and they *do not* have the best interest of Sverige or it's people at heart while doing so. You're opening yourself and your country up to groups of people that hate you on a relgious, cultural, or personal level. You're opening yourself up to extremist groups that rally behind the idea of silently taking over other countries through what they see as "weaknesses" of that country, those same things many of you call "kindnesses". Not to mention opening yourself up to diseases like ebola and whatnot. It's just not safe immigration policy to allow someone to declare "refugee!" and hand them a bus card, a social check, and an apt while making those that would be beneficial to your wonderful country bust our asses for the same privilege. Everyone should have to bust their ass and everyone should pass the background checks, the interviews, do it legally, and wait their damn turn. If they prove other motives after getting here, revoke it and send them back.
But hey.. that's just my opinion.
I feel you man! You are the kind of immigrants that we want in our countries. I don't care about your skin color or country, but if you have a skill or at least you are willing to attend university, learn the language, work and pay taxes, then you are more than welcome.
I'm currently living in Italy and I see how politicians are doing everything wrong. Highly educated immigrants go through hoops to get the visa permits (I have professional friends that will have to go back to their countries), while asylum seekers and poor lampedusa landing immigrants are taking care of.
I'm not sociologist, but I see a trend here... Potentially successful immigrants are kicked out, young professional Italians go abroad due to the crisis, but we are accomodating uneducated immigrants that don't share our values. This country will be full of scum (plus the italian mafia) in the near future.

It's not just *your* opinion, but the opinion of alot of people. Im norwegian myself and Im not a nationalist at all, but i hate to see that immigrants who come to norway dont want to get intergrated into our country, there are ofc a alot who does, but those who dont makes all immigrants look bad. I mean, if im going to move to, say Spain, im not gonna try to change that country, im going to embrace their culture and be apart of it. It's beyond me why people think violence and destruction towards both sides will fix anything. The only way violence can fix a problem is if you completely stamp out what you are attacking, or else there is always repercussions.
I’m not saying violence is right for this situation but violence has shown to be an effective way to enact change. The gay rights movement only became effective when riots happened. The civil rights movements had effective violent protests. Women’s suffrage peaceful protests weren’t taken seriously, however when they became violent they were taken more seriously. It’s easy to ignore and disenfranchise a peaceful protestor, the best way about it is to disenfranchise the oppressor the same way they’re oppressing you. It takes a lot of organisation though and it’s difficult
