This was the best one so far. They both were very candid, have DePace back again. You should also ask someone about the fake callers and planted questions and how that became the norm.

Love the TH-cam questions. I don't think people canceled their subscriptions just bc of some random Beetlejuice clips on TH-cam. Once we had to pay to listen, the content needed to stay top notch. We aren't going to pay for celeb interviews and puppet shows
Correct. Content waned and there were far too many repeat shows.
The show now is basically the ‘Stern Podcast’ from his basement. It really isn’t worth paying for. I’d pay top dollar for old content, but the sternthology stuff is safe, boring and generally uninteresting.

My experience too, I realized that his poisonous attitude was actually making my day worse. So, I quit and haven't missed that mess one bit. HS is a sad, bitter old man.

What howard did to the t.v. people was so coldblooded , and the show has sucked ever since. He showed his true colors.
I mean what planet do you live on? First and foremost, jobs aren't cradle to grave ESPECIALLY in showbiz. The TV guys had a 20 year gig...20 YEARS!!!. They had the 2 decade gig on a show where reality happened on air. I assume they thought they were immune...but they weren't.
And I'll show you cold blooded. They were never poached and all these years later, they're doing nothing...which speaks to an IQ where they knew that TV continuing was a question and were shocked that Howard made the decision on air...the same Howard who announced the Sirius move on air...M-O-R-O-N-S

The segment was morbidly funny and quite revealing who were willing to go that far for money. 😆
Its the ultimate betrayal by Howard to his fans and the people who worked their asses off for him. He turned out to be everything he was against to make his career.
Still totally respect Goodstein for running down to the wreckage at the world trade centers to help when every one else was running away. Hope his health is OK because a lot of those heroes are paying for their bravery with their health

Artie Era is the best by far...the first 4-5 years 100%. Been loyal since 1987 so obv loved both but 2003-2007....best ever!!!

Artie had great stories and the turmoil that was his life was great but hearing jokey get busted on for something that he did some show that got canceled or something in bayville will never not be funny
I don't have a strong connection to the Jackie years because I was too young. When I listen to old clips though, it is Billy West who REALLY impresses me. I like the Artie years most. So much drama. Great wackpackers. Couldn't get enough.

Robin also. HTV ended right after she came back to the studio post cancer treatment, & she had delayed that in person return for a very long time before that point.
And he always wore a scarf to cover up his wrinkly neck. He always said he didn’t dye his hair yet his beard is all white. Hmmmm
The HTV subscriptions got too low. The show became nothing but Jason pissing people off and people didn't need to pay to see his face

Blaming youtube is incorrect. Blame on demand or whatever it was called. It was very difficult to get access to Howard TV. Had they had an internet subscription or more access to other cable companies, Howard tv would have been way more successful.
I think it was Kathy Griffin and she was talking about her dad passing away when there was a loud snore from Artie.
I thought it was the dumbest thing ever when they did not continue Howard TV...I would show friends different things over and over oh you got to see this

Great episode! Hearing from Scott was something I've wanted for a long time. I always admired his contribution to show and have much respect for his courage to speak his mind. I recently dropped Sirius because the show isn't what it used to be and Howard's treatment of his staff is disgusting. I'd love to hear from Salem but I'm sure he signed an NDA. Great work once again!

I agree with Scott about Jason. I don’t know why he’s so beloved by everyone over there. That horrible, nightmarish voice....constantly throwing people under the bus...the chemically induced “confidence”....his “uncanny valley” looks. I *truly* don’t get it. Maybe if I met him in person or something, it’d be a different story. Maybe he’s magically some sort of great guy behind all of that annoyingness. I don’t know, man....

This is easily the best ex stern guys interview so far.
That show was great for so many year. Doug and Scott were a huge part of that on and off the air. Loved all the Depace segments and always thought he was a good dude whether you agree with his politics or not. I enjoyed this interview 👍

The best way to combat piracy would be to have a web subscription service where the customers could access the whole back catalogue. There would be no reason to post the shows to TH-cam any more. The problem is that it would be impossible for Howard to compete against his own archives, since there is some much stuff to watch and lister to over and over again. Keeping the show going (on a sub-par level) has really made things messed up.
Imagine Depace there now ... hoo boy. The crazed CoronaBros on staff would lose their minds.
Would Scott have fallen for the election lie? He fell for the one about Iraq.
Interesting to hear how seeing himself in his movie turned Howard into a freak about the way he looked. I’m sure it started with the E show, but the movie kicked it up to a higher level. Seems to happen to so many famous people - they start in with plastic surgery, etc, just like he did.
Looking back, that movie really changed the guy...meanwhile ironically the movie was all about what a regular guy he was. But it’s pretty clear that that was a definitive dividing line in his life.
Also in retrospect, I wondered if Robin didn’t want the TV show around after she returned from cancer. She put off coming back as long as she could, & they were around at the very end when she came back, but you could tell she didn’t really want to be on camera. Combine that with Howard getting older too, less eye candy guests being on, etc, maybe he just didn’t want a TV show anymore. Doesn’t make sense that he eventually brought it back though. Maybe Sirius forced him to in one of the later contracts.

I loved the DePace stuff on the show. He didn't care if the whole room disagreed with him and ganged up on him, he was standing on his square. That makes for better radio than staffers kissing Howard's ass. And also, with that Gary falling asleep saga, Gary totally deflected by making it about DePace so that he could take less shit.

You said you watch Howard TV videos on youtube for research. TH-cam is literally the worst place to look for Howard content. All you will find is short clips on Howard's official channel. Howard has all the full episodes removed. I would like to send you some complete episodes to help you with your research. Please give me your current email so that I can go into it in more detail.

Why was Howard TV not available 15 years ago "on line"? I could not get the "On Demand" subscription thru my TV provider. Howard TV limited their revenue stream by not making it easy to pay for the content. I remember searching for a legal way to watch Howard TV. It sucks that all of these good people lost their job due to piracy.
The entire entertainment industry is going down the drain and piracy is one of the reasons why

I really liked Depace on the show, but after the baby clothes thing between Goodstein and Shuli, I couldn't help but hate Goodstein. Arguing over used baby clothes is the most "jewy" thing ever! At least Goodstein recognized it when he said it was making Jews look bad for them to be arguing over used baby clothes.

I have watched about 10 of these shows and on the one hand admire how easy going and seemingly nice this host is, but on the other, I still don't know his name, lol. He does a good job letting the guests speak and it is impressive how he gets all the old Stern crew (though one could argue most aren't too busy.) This ep was a good one. Scott is still a lunkhead, but he is being honest here and it is appreciated. The host should be a bit more prepared maybe, (he messed up the OJ story,) but overall he is good. What is his name?? Lol.

This was a fine show with great insights. But I still think the best take on Turk-era Stern came from Artie and Jackie. Its on TH-cam. I think the comparison of Stern to F. Scott Fitzgerald and Hunter S. Thompson is spot-on.

My absolute favorite era of the Stern show were obviously the Artie years, but more specifically, when Bubba the Love Sponge and his crew joined Sirius and they all interacted. Those were great times.
