Update April 2022: ASRock have released a new BIOS for this board: Version 5.04 Dated 2022/3/31. Available here: www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/B660M%20Pro%20RS/#BIOS It states that they have updated microcode, Added "Load intel Base Power Limit Settings" and these revisions may have improved the performance of this board. We recommend that you update to this BIOS if you own or are considering buying this motherboard. We'd be very grateful if anyone can test this BIOS and report back ,as we no longer have this motherboard available as it was returned as faulty on ASRocks recommendation.
Hi, I’ve just done this. I don’t know if this helps but after this update my cpu Vcore voltage within the BIOS says 0.880. No idea if this is good or not but if you could get back to me that would be great Edit: using i5 12400f
If there’s anything else I should check for the sake of myself and this comment section to see if anything is bad or good with this motherboard let me know.
Another thing my cpu Vcore compensation which is on the OC tweaker is on auto as the same with the base frequency boost is on auto. The target p-core/cache speed is 4400 mhz/4000 mhz and the target avx2/bclk is 4400 mhz/ 100mhz.
I just used this motherboard (updated to BIOS Version 5.04) with a i5-12400f and did not have issues with it boosting properly it would hold during gaming at 4 ghz and boost to 4.4 when doing single threaded tasks. The VRM stayed at 71 C after 5 minutes of all core on cinebench R23 which it posted a 12504pts score. Not bad considering we got it for 120$ Canadian.
@@loctran3430 The i7-12700F is essentially the same as the 12700 or 12700K, barring about 15W extra for the iGPU if being used on those other two CPUs. There's no substantial difference in performance or temperatures.

as asked in other videos, did you use this one board, or did you test multiple of the board? or even a different CPU? Asrock has a $90 motherboard on newegg of the 660m, you have to do more testing to get to the bottom of this.
I've only got one board to test! I can't afford to buy multiple copies of crappy motherboards! The B660M HDV has been tested by hardware unboxed and found to be awful, worse than this. I don't believe that this board is individually faulty, I believe this if a fault in the way ASRock configure their BIOS, either for this CPU or all CPUs, that prevent them deploying >85W to an i5 non K CPU.

It's the same VRM wise, and the board appears quite happy at 100W continuous load, as you'll experience worst case with APE on and a 12400.
I will buy this MB soon with 12100F and change it on 12400(F) in future.
Did you have any problems with the 12400f?
@@aspiradora56 i had 12400F in may 2022, then i had 12700kf in january 2023, and since february 2024 i have Ryzen 7600X. never had problems with all these CPUs.
does the board come with a wifi card?
Nope, no WiFi on this version.
Is it a atx or atx micro

Ryzen 5 5600 x compatible ?

Why do they still put PS2 ports on modern MB, just get rid of it and put another USB or something else...
Legacy for office users - and some gamers still prefer PS2 Mice and keyboards apparently!
Can I get it now? That problem still here? Thanks
Hi anybody using Asrock B660m Steel Legend?
So in your opinion should I buy this board for i5 12400f or should I buy gigabyte b660 bs3h ax?????
Tough choice - ideally neither! The Gigabyte can at least be made to perform, but if you do get it make sure you update the BIOS.
@@BuildPicker ok so what about msi pro b660m DDR 4??????
@@synaxedits You only should pick MSI Pro B660M-A or Gigabyte B660M Gaming X. In the future, you can upgrade i7 non K.
Really great channel! Hope everything is alright and you will start posting videos again soon! Subbed!

Nice vid. But why are you so zesty
Amazon sent me this mobo when I ordered a different one and I almost used it....
Hello, I am wondering if you have done this method in this video? th-cam.com/video/WRcfU3ZvggM/w-d-xo.html it looks like it fixes the performance issues, but I don’t know how’s the temperature after doing this. If it’s safe to do this in the long run or not.
Yes, this was one of the suggestions by ASRock that I tried, but it did not work. I cannot see what CPU that person is using. This board behaves very differently depending on which CPU is fitted!
Does this board come with wifi
Give this man a bottle of water 🤭
