    Update April 2022: ASRock have released a new BIOS for this board: Version 5.04 Dated 2022/3/31. Available here: www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/B660M%20Pro%20RS/#BIOS
    It states that they have updated microcode, Added "Load intel Base Power Limit Settings" and these revisions may have improved the performance of this board.
    We recommend that you update to this BIOS if you own or are considering buying this motherboard. We'd be very grateful if anyone can test this BIOS and report back ,as we no longer have this motherboard available as it was returned as faulty on ASRocks recommendation.

      Hi, I’ve just done this. I don’t know if this helps but after this update my cpu Vcore voltage within the BIOS says 0.880. No idea if this is good or not but if you could get back to me that would be great
      Edit: using i5 12400f

      Another thing my cpu Vcore compensation which is on the OC tweaker is on auto as the same with the base frequency boost is on auto. The target p-core/cache speed is 4400 mhz/4000 mhz and the target avx2/bclk is 4400 mhz/ 100mhz.

    I just used this motherboard (updated to BIOS Version 5.04) with a i5-12400f and did not have issues with it boosting properly it would hold during gaming at 4 ghz and boost to 4.4 when doing single threaded tasks. The VRM stayed at 71 C after 5 minutes of all core on cinebench R23 which it posted a 12504pts score. Not bad considering we got it for 120$ Canadian.

    • @BuildPicker
      @BuildPicker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That's good news. Many people don't report issues with the 12400 and it always seemed the firmware was the issue here.

    Just want to give a little inside into how the board is performing right now with all the bios updates Asrock has provided through the year. Mine has the most recent update which ads support for Intel 13th Gen CPUs but I run an Intel 12500 on my board and it is working flawlessly. It is hitting around the same scores I can see in other benchmarks and has not caused any issues since I got it. I think when Intel releases something like a 13400 or 13500 this could be an option for some people.

  • @jimmyke16

    I feel so bad i bought this one... I bought it in january and chose it because the heatsinks and all core turbo bfb. Now i see these tests underperforming and high vrm temps too. I thought i can upgrade in the future from 12400 to 13600-13700 in this board...

    • @BuildPicker
      @BuildPicker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I wouldn't feel bad... It's mostly fine, and if you can verify it's performance with your CPU now it's totally fine. If it's underperforming and you're in a return window, I'd return it. As for more powerful CPUs than the i5-12400, I wouldn't try that.
      It's a risk of cheap intel boards now. You have to pick a board that will deliver good power. ASRock now have a track record of not being able to do this.

    as asked in other videos, did you use this one board, or did you test multiple of the board? or even a different CPU? Asrock has a $90 motherboard on newegg of the 660m, you have to do more testing to get to the bottom of this.

    • @BuildPicker
      @BuildPicker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've only got one board to test! I can't afford to buy multiple copies of crappy motherboards! The B660M HDV has been tested by hardware unboxed and found to be awful, worse than this. I don't believe that this board is individually faulty, I believe this if a fault in the way ASRock configure their BIOS, either for this CPU or all CPUs, that prevent them deploying >85W to an i5 non K CPU.

      Is your memory meant to be rated above 3200MHz? How are you trying to OC it? If it's not rated for faster operation than that, you likely won't get it above that, certainly not on this board.

    Hello, I am wondering if you have done this method in this video? th-cam.com/video/WRcfU3ZvggM/w-d-xo.html it looks like it fixes the performance issues, but I don’t know how’s the temperature after doing this. If it’s safe to do this in the long run or not.

      Yes, this was one of the suggestions by ASRock that I tried, but it did not work. I cannot see what CPU that person is using. This board behaves very differently depending on which CPU is fitted!
