You are like me about the weather. I like rain, cool and overcast! My cruise experience is Carnival and Royal Caribbean. Now, my eye is on Princess. I have been through a lot in recent years and looking for quiet. I heard Holland America is really quiet!
Really nice video. We booked a mini-suite on the Discovery for an October coastal sailing. This will be our first time on the Discovery, and our 25th Princess Cruise. Looking forward to it. We have been to Alaska on 8 cruises, always with a balcony to your point. We have also flown up to Anchorage and traveled on our own while in Alaska. Beautiful state. We do enjoy the food on Princess. Never had a complaint.

The food on Princess is a step above Carnival, Disney, and Royal Caribbean. 1 Negative about princesses = the stateroom, which tend to be smaller than the aforementioned ships.
Many years ago I went on a Holland America Alaskan cruise with my Dad and Mom. It was fabulous. I loved it so much. It was their 2nd cruise, my one and only cruise. Sitka was my favorite stop. I’m a senior citizen. I’ve been trying to find a solo Alaskan cruise. I’m probably not looking in the right venues. All of the cruises I find charge double occupancy, no less expensive rooms for just one person. It’s so disappointing. I’m also pretty quiet so I don’t know if I would be comfortable eating at a table with strangers like how they seat people. I’m a new subscriber. I look forward to watching your videos. I love your cruise videos that I’ve seen, and I thoroughly enjoy seeing all of the food. Thank you for sharing 🤗

It can be tough to find cruises that don't charge double occupancy, but I would recommend checking out sites like cruiseplum.com or other cruise sites that offer discounts. I know cruiseplum you can search by solo traveler pricing which is really nice. I also am not comfortable sitting at a table with strangers (I'm a pretty big introvert in general), and on 90% of the cruises I've been on it hasn't been an issue. I definitely think Princess is a great cruise line for solo travel especially Alaska! Let me know if you have any questions :)

The bad thing about the newer ships is tiny balconies. We leave 14 days on Ruby Princess out of San Francisco. Upgraded to mini suite and bigger balcony. Have fun
I thought you had just won a hundred bucks more the second time not that you got TWO HANDPAYS!! Lucky lady but Carly you were due some luck, I'm pleased for you x. We went on Princess for the first time in April and like you yhe food did not blow me away. I felt a lot of the time it was lacking in season/flavour and like you would place it below Royal but I love the ship and the hard working crew. The ship is beautiful (we were on the Sky Princess) and room much more appealing that Royal with their super comfy beds and beautiful room decor. Can't wait for for next vlogs to see what you get up to.

Just off Discovery Princess...the peanut butter cookies were so good! I ate them five at a time!! The afternoon tea with scones (which you can also get in the pastry shop in the afternoon) were so good it is hard to describe. All of the crew members were amazing and we can't wait to go back.

I took my first solo cruise (and second cruise) last month and enjoyed it. I can't say I'm glad about paying as if two people were in the cabin but given the choice (which I am), I'll pay double rather than share the room. Looking forward to catching up on your videos. I only just found you today.

I’m just starting to plan a cruise to Alaska for Summer 2023. One of the cruise lines that was recommended on an article that I read was Princess and I believe the one you are in is the newer one. I appreciate you giving a tour of the ship and telling your viewers about the food especially quality and so forth. Have you noticed any options for Sugar Free, Gluten free, or Dairy Free in the Buffet areas? Also if you have already done a number of cruises to Alaska can you recommend a Cruise line and any wildlife tours? . Thanks for your videos!!!
Hi Isabel! Princess does a great job with food preferences and they have a lot of options for sugar-free/gluten-free things. You can also let your servers know if you have intolerances and they will usually be able to accomodate for that. I definitely loved my Princess cruise to Alaska, but Royal Caribbean is also amazing (I cruised on Ovation of the Seas last year and it was fantastic). I'd say depending on what your expectations are and who you're traveling with will be a big factor for which cruise line to choose. Princess is a bit more laid-back with an older clientele, while Royal is more family-oriented. As for wildlife tours, there's TONS - I'd definitely say check with whichever cruise line you choose because they will have so many options for wildlife excursions :)

Love your content! Did you get much of a cheaper price for cruising solo? Booking with Royal solo is the same base price for 2 but obviously no tax/port/gratuity fees. I got my own room while cruising with my parents, I want to do a solo cruise so bad, but so nervous.
For this cruise I got a slight discount because they were having a sale. Typically I get casino offers from the ships though so I only end up paying for port fees & taxes for myself :)
Hi Lily, it depends on the cruise line. Some allow you to bring a certain amount, but honestly I find it easier just to purchase it on the website and have it waiting in my room for me when I board rather than lug it around on embarkation day.
When I went, they were, but I think some of the cruise lines might be letting up on that soon. It's hard to keep up with it since they change pretty frequently on the requirements.

I don't like that you look down on to balconies - but OMG how awful to have one looked down upon!!!
