Wow what an eye opener! Thank you so much for informing us.

This is scary! I’ve never given a thought to our names being at our doors. I have heard that has changed. I’m now a widow traveling with a widow friend. This is causing me to rethink how open I will be with fellow cruisers. I’ll be more aware on Enchanted in January.
I hope this never happens to you again!!!

It's an unfortunate reality that women in particular have to be careful. I too hope never to have something like this happen again, it wasn't pleasant.

I recently read a blog from a solo male first time Princess cruiser who was extremely unhappy about these exact privacy issues. He didn't have any problems from it but definitely concerned about the names being posted at your door as well as saying the cabin numbers out loud to the bartenders when ordering. He was going to contact Princess about it.

It's a concern for anyone who doesn't want that information so easily found. People like their privacy for a variety of reason, but safety is up there for women especially.

Well, that was a terrible situation to be in. I agree with you that there has to be another way to say what your cabin is than verbally. Many times, I have felt a bit uncomfortable giving it out especially when we are sitting with others at dinner, and I don't know who they are. I cruise with my husband however half the time we are each doing our own thing, so I am solo walking around and doing things. I would have just told the guy I am not interested, and you need to go elsewhere and leave me alone. I remember when they use to have paper slips in your doorway where the "mail" would go. I thought that was unusual as well. We are going on the Emerald in February, and I think I will ask for our last names to be removed from the entry medallion screen. Thanks for sharing your experience and I hoped you followed through with Princess as well.

I wish there was a way to have them default to more private settings. At least we have the option to have it altered (the door display) but there is no opt out in the app. I hope you have a great cruise on the Emerald. She was a nice ship, and I enjoyed her.

This is outrageous. So what can we do to pressure Princess to address these privacy and safety issues?

I detailed what happened in my after cruise survey. I am waiting to see what the new Princess app looks like (they are releasing it some time this month if it goes according to plan), and I am hoping they have address some of these concerns there at least.

It is a good example of when personalization becomes creepy.
