    Interesting conversion, but from a power, flight time, value perspective, why not just get a Mobula7 and fly it with 2S?

    • @obesesoldier1
      @obesesoldier1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think difference purposes, this sacrifices size but gains efficiency versus the mobula 6. The mobula 7 is more like a safer acro quad on 2s

    • @jmoore3854
      @jmoore3854  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Mobula 6 platform has a lot going for it. A lot lighter, better camera, More range 260 meters, with a 450mah more flight time. the only thing it doesn't have is more power 93 grams vs 172 grams.

    • @Phrancis5
      @Phrancis5 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, the runcam nano is nicer/lighter, but for the overall price, the M7 will still be more powerful on 2S and you can still run it indoors on larger 1S. You bought four M6's so I guess price wasn't really a concern.

  • @c00p3rm4n
    @c00p3rm4n 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    John, thank you for another very clear video. My aim is indoor acrobatics rather than longer flight times. I would greatly appreciate your opinion please:
    - Would this 75mm frame swap (with more thrust potential) be better for indoor acro than the original Mob6 19K?
    - Would 4-blade props increase the controllability?
    - Would this be better than an Eachine Trashcan (2S) for indoor acrobatics?

    • @jmoore3854
      @jmoore3854  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For max acrobatics I like the 25k Mob6, the 75mm frame swap 2nd, mob6 19k 3rd with trashcan last.

  • @arturw5390
    @arturw5390 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey John. Would that be possible to convert this 65mm Mobula 6 with 19k motors into something more like a cruiser with larger two-bladed props to maximize the flying time from this build...? I know they aimed to make it an acro race drone but those motors could be good for increased flying times if properly configured with propeller size to this lightweight build.. isn't it?

    Hi, John. Thanks for the video! I did what you showed,. And while I was able to take off - I can't really fly. Vibrations make it super uncomfortable to fly. I haven't found that anyone from videos above had mentioned that effect, so I assume it's problem with mine only. Does anyone know how to fix that? I install back 31mm props and it flies on 75mm just fine. Slightly more bulky than on native 65mm frame, but no vibration. Juggling comes when I install 40mm 4 blade props. The props are new. If you have flying version of 75mm mobula 6 - could you please share betaflight dump if that's not much on inconvenience for you? many thanks.

      No, I have used 19, 22 and 25000kv on my Mobulite, all work great with decent flight times on jesc fw.
      The 25000kv can be a bit fast for tight indoors, though, but on the other hand, they handle outdoors acro like pros. No more washouts!

    Hey John, dont the larger props from the mob 7 draw more amps from the 300 mah 1s ?
    How were you able to get more flight time than a stock mob 6 w larger props ?

    • @jmoore3854
      @jmoore3854  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The larger props spin slower for the same power so they are more efficient. That is why the moblite7 can get 10 minutes of flight time.

  • @wait..what.

    love your channel 🥰 could you give some of your insight into this conversion vs. a mobula7 on 1s? thanks 🙏🏾

    • @jmoore3854
      @jmoore3854  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The main difference is the converted Mobula 6 is a lot lighter and flies better inside. Because the M6 is lighter it gets longer flight times. The original Mobula 7 is a 15 month old design where the modified M6 is only 3 month old design so better camera longer range. The Mobula 7 on 1S only has a thrust of 80g and P/W ratio of 1.9 where the M6 has a thrust of 93 grams and power to weight ratio of 3.2.

  • @franza.d.morales8529

    When you say longer flight times, was it because of a bigger mah battery on the 75? Or did you use the same 300mah for both? Thanks! Planning to do this real soon!

    • @jmoore3854
      @jmoore3854  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Franz A.D. Morales with the same 300 mah batteries you will get longer flight times because the bigger props spin at lower rpm and are more efficient. Times should increase from 2.5 minutes to a little over 3 minutes. If you use 450 mah you should get over 4 minutes

I would think they tune those puppies pretty close to where any more and you fry an ESC, any less and your put- putting around?? Does anyone know what the long term effect on those kind of hacks too? By the way, I'm doing the swap with the Mobula 7's V3 frame and I was going to try GNB's 520's and 650's. They're the same size as the 450's. I have 2 6's now though and man I start to wonder if this is worth it.....? Only because right now I'm Loving the little 6!!! For 1s, it does great acro flying! @@jmoore3854 Hey John, my name is Chris, from Detroit. Just east of you, on Michigan Ave. Lol. I talk with Nick, as well a lot of the other pilots in his comments. Very nice job on your swap experiment! I was wondering if you thought of or tried any other 75mm frames? I prefer the Mobula 7's V3 frame. I thought it was a much sturdier of a frame. Similar to the Cockroach frames. Impossible to destroy.
      Anyway, I just got 2 Mobula 6's, one 19k and one 25k. I plan on taking your experiment a few steps further. I'm going to try a few more prop variations. As well as the V3 frame. I also am thinking about going with a little bigger of a battery...., What are your thoughts on something bigger than 350mAh? I know once you go to the 450' s the weight increases. The thing is, with GNB, they have such a great flight time and they have 520's and 650's, which are the same size. I'm not sure how they do that or if it's a little bit of Chinese Trickery?? I would think that almost double the mAh, minus the little extra weight, you should get some real long flight times. It may be a tad slower. I was thinking maybe throw a 650mAh on the first run. To get warmer up and get in the zone. Well anyway, I just wanted to say hi and it's great to see a guy older than me have so much fun with these little Whoops. Usually, I'm the elder. I believe it keeps us young. Take care!

    Is or a good idea to do the conversion on 25k model?

    • @jmoore3854
      @jmoore3854  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nick and Nate said not a good idea,. The 25K model is already at the limit pushing out 94 grams of thrust at over 10 amps. My guess with 40mm props would put out 110 grams of thrust at around 14 amps. This would cause a voltage sag below 3 volts which will cause a failsafe. But someone needs to try it.

      No idea why the two say that ???
      With Gemfan Triblades I only need 30% to float instead of 40% before, the current load has also dropped from 4.2A to 3.7A !!!
      Flight time with 333mAh / 450mAh MyLipo (NonHV Lipos) 4min / 5min indoor (quickly).
      However, I also use JESC 48khz / Emuflight / EMockula 6 Tune from Project Mockingbird;)
      The big weak point of Mobula 6 is, in my opinion, the VTX / SPI (Flysky), which is slowly driving me crazy!
      My modded 3year old Eachine H8 Mini has a better SPI range, no joke !!!
