    Very interesting - nice and simple. great to see just one change at a time and see what happens, thanks. Looking at the take off footage I think the JESC needed about 45% throttle where BlHeli_S needed closer to 50% not sure if that was my imagination or not? Looking forward to seeing if rpm filtering works better still. Mobula6 seems a good test platform as you can test back to back with no external influences like wind!! :-)

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The throttle on the Mob6 is especially sensitive, so I'm not sure I trust the percentage, but if you can notice it consistently then it's probably true. What I saw on the video I linked to where I compare all 4 flights is it would just have 0.1v extra most of the time - which does translate into a good 30 secs or so. I think I have to move to different firmware again to put rpm filtering on, but still easy to compare against

    Did this a few weeks ago on a trashcan. Coupled with Emuflight it flies great now and the flight time has doubled. Utter no brainer. I also did the same with a 4" quad, flight time hasn't improved but it's motors sound way smoother.

      CurryKitten the latest version is actually working now. In the first release the Q and W filters weren't working at all. It also has a few preset tunes built into the PIDs tab. The beta 75 tune works great with the Trashcan. Give them both a shot on the Trashcan (if you still have it) and if you have time. I think you'll be impressed.

    We've tested JESC on 3 stock Trashcan's..
    LiHv used: 1S 450 mAh..
    30 seconds hovering NO JESC = 48 mAh
    With JESC 32 mAh
    So exactly 33% less
    3 x 16 = 16 / 32 / 48 mAh
    Flying time increased from 3 min medium flying to 4:30 min 🔥

    I just a/b tested blheli-s 16.7 24khz and jesc 2.2 48khz in a hover test with my babytooth (1202.5 11500kv on 1s) and got 7:05 and 8:25 respectively. Which works out to a 19% increase in flight time/efficiency. I haven't flown any packs full acro yet, but if there aren't any real downsides, I'm completely astonished at the improvement. Motor temps seemed identical, slightly above ambient, but as said, just a hover test. Either way, I think its worth a shot for anyone flying whoops or micro/toothpick style 3"ers. Just crazy how much extra flight time I got.

      @@CurryKitten Definitely worth trying. Just flew a couple packs pretty hard full acro and it flew a little "loose" but pretty well altogether. It's also gusting 15mph where I live, which is less than ideal for a 60g auw, but im definitely not changing back until I fly on a really calm day and see how she does. Crazy af to get 6:30-7:00 out of a pack when flying at a pretty good tilt.

    How are you getting no voltage sag? Mine sags from 3.9 to 3.5 just from takeoff.What battery are you using? I get about 2:30 minutes draining from 3.9v to 3v keeping the throttle less than half the whole time.(with the jesc flashed)Odly with the stock usb charger. Itll charge to 3.9v and at high voltage itll charge at 3.9. But i notice the c rating on high voltage does change to 60. I dont have a jst ph 2 tester so i only have the mobula 6s' voltage reader built in for osd to tell voltage. However even of i need to chage the value in betaflight for the correct readout of battery but it should still increase right from regular 4.2 to high voltage 4.3. So why would it show that regardless they show 3.9v?

    i torture my fixed wing 3s lipos every time i fly and always take them down to 9v and sometimes when i screw up my power needed to get home ive been hitting 8.7 and waiting for the esc to cut out lol, ive always seen lipos as a consumable and treat them very badly :/
    on my 450 quad i quickly found out that i have to land at 10v as it does not take much to cause a low enough sag
    to make it loose control and spin out the sky if i take it lower than that in anything but a plain hover

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I murdered my old 3s 2200s to such an extent that a lipo plugged in showing 12.6 would go to 9v just on a wing launch :D You'll always be able to push fixed wing a bit more, the air is doing a reasonable job keeping the plane up there, while a quads ability to glide is quite poor :)

      Yep - its fine. Brushless motors don't have a direction they want to go in (with the exception being the ones with nuts that thread in a certain direction - but that's just to keep the props on) which way they run is completely dependant on the connection order of the 3 wires that attach to the ESC, so "reverse" means spin the other way from the connection.
