Thanks to you I fixed mine in 30 minutes. My testing was identical to yours. I replaced the diode with a 3amp through hole diode. You saved me a ton. Thank you.
Johnny thank you so much for this fix, I had exact same issue, replacing the diode brought my unit back to life. Quite bad design for something like this to take out a quite expensive unit after such little use. Thanks again, I wouldn't have been able to diagnose and fix this, would have been in the bin.
Dear Jonny, it was same problem I have, amazing I did which you explain all information, at last working :) thank you very much for your all your efforts
Whole project cost me less than $20. (You can buy soldering kit for 11$ and diode for 6$ with shipping from that digi key). It had to be that diode, because it worked when I plugged it in however smoke came out so I had to mess something up. Anyway, my fault, and I am happy that I gave it a try (never done a project line that involved soldering however I read a book about and what I have learned is mine) :) anyway, thank you for sharing!
After replacing the diode the device goes on and works sometimes a minute sometimes longer then it turns orange, off, white on and works again. And this goes like a loop. With the 3,5mm jack same issue. Any idea ?
Hi, I have one of theses bad boys, I checked the pacifier I have 0 not 27.79 like yours. I’m in the us, where can I get components? And thanks for the video, so much info.
Unsure what they use. I imagine they would only upgrade it if they agree there is a pattern failure here while under warranty otherwise it's probably original spec. Given the years they last I don't think they see a need for it but anything's possible.
Hello, I'm from Germany and my English isn't that good, sorry. I have the problem that it's showing 0 volts for me and 27 volts for you. Is this component defective?
Is that status amber or white?im having problem connecting to the soundbar, and mines amber status supposed to be blinking white to connect?and i think i put the thing backwards because the light supposed to turn off right?
Hi! I have the same problem with my Bose bass 500 module. Total newb here. I noticed you replaced the diode from B340A to B2100. Would you recommend me doing the same? Or sticking with a new B340A diode?
Hard to know. A should only go in one direction. Did you put it in the correct way? When testing use diode mode on multimeter and put red lead on the end without the stripe and black lead on other end, you should read about 0.3 to 0.5 volts, with the unit unplugged of course. If not, try a new diode. Otherwise you have some other fault. Check soldering and make sure it is connected well.
Hi Jonny my bassmodule 500 started to pop every once and a while. I followed Bose instructions by moving it to different locations, plugging in different outlets, etc. None of that helped. I returned it to Bose who sent it back after four weeks claiming to have repaired it. It’s now worse than before. Would you have any idea what can be causing the popping sounds?
Could be interference from wireless router or something else in your area. If you have one, turn it off and see if it stops. Try another location, at a friends house etc see if it happens there.
@@JonnyFix I decided to try using a shielded audio cable instead of wireless. That looks to have fixed the issue so far. Disappointed with this product though. Thanks.
Well done jonny :-D I'ts a shame that they didn't put a bigger mass diode on that pcb. Penny pinching buggers :-(. Will a third one appear on your door step lol.
Hi Jonny, first, thanks for the video. I m sorry because my english sucks but i have the same trouble than you, no power. I m not good at electronics but i tried to check the same diode than you and i don t understand how do you know he is fucked ? When i test it on OHM mode, it sounds like you with a beep and show 0.5 OHM. Thanks for helping and sorry once again for my english Loïc
Hi Jonny, Thank you for your video and time ! I have this module and it suddenly stoped emitting sound. I followed every instruction about reseting the device without success. The bass Module cannot be detected wirelessly, it appears to be somehow detected by the soundbar when plugged with a 3.5mm jack, but even then, no sound at all. Even the powering on sound doesn't exist anymore. Any idea how to start my investigaiton ?
Not sure how you mean detected by sound bar. Does it have a light on? If no light maybe it's not even turning on so could be the problem in video. If there is a light I don't know sorry, I haven't seen this before.
Wow sorry to hear about that. These speakers are expensive, I would have thought that if you pay premium, then that's what you get. I was thinking of buying one, but your post made me get cold feet. Did you end up resolving the issue? Was Bose taking responsibility for this?
Hi, even years after you created this video - I managed to fix my subwoofer! It sounds glorious this morning! Thank you
Thanks to you I fixed mine in 30 minutes. My testing was identical to yours. I replaced the diode with a 3amp through hole diode. You saved me a ton. Thank you.
Awesome!
Where did you buy the diode
You can get them from many places like element14, rs components, mouser, digikey etc, whichever is more convenient for you@@franciscotorres5113
You just saved mine! Thank you! Saved me soo much time! Awsome!
Can i buy this diode on amazon?

Thanks for the video Jonny. Same fault on my Bassmodule 500. Now operational. You saved me $150.00.
The same problem, the diode shorted, thanks for the content 👍🏼
Thanks! Saved me a lot of money !!!! My unit works now 🎉
Awesome, thanks for the support!
Thank you jonny for uploading the repair of this I was able to repair one of these greetings from Colombia infinitely grateful
Johnny thanks for your video I enjoyed it. I was able to fix my Bose Subwoofer with a 1$ part. Appreciate it so much!
another success story here, but I only had full size diodes so added a 1N5406, now works perfectly, thanks matey :)
Dear Jonny, it was same problem I have, amazing I did which you explain all information, at last working :) thank you very much for your all your efforts
Thanks for sharing! I do have a question regarding the diode. Is there a difference between B2100 and B2100A-13-F?
You could use either, nothing functionally different.
It Worked perfectly with the B2100A-13-f
Thanks for the answer and Great help :)
@janleguk4773 Excellent!

Thank you. My issue was the exact same diode. I just save myself 150 buckssss!!
After the Fix i have status led not on but not blinking: what Could i do?😊
Tris video saves my like 500 usd, thanks a lot 🙏
I tested across the diode and get 1.0 ohm. Bad, right?
Sounds like it
Great video and very informative 😊 are you able to show us how to repair a Wii console - making rough noises when loading a cd
Many thanks for this information that make my Bose OK! ❤️

Any idea ?
Lots of people with the same problem with the bose sub, I have the newer one and already had the diode replaced 3 times. It keeps failing :(
O men thank you so much
Saved me 260 euroos what bose is asking for this fix
Its working again
Well done, glad you could solve it!
Nice fix Jonny 👍
Hi, I have one of theses bad boys, I checked the pacifier I have 0 not 27.79 like yours. I’m in the us, where can I get components? And thanks for the video, so much info.
You can get parts from mouser, digikey, element14
Would be interesting, if Bose uses a better Diode, if you use their repair Service? Do you have any Information?
Unsure what they use. I imagine they would only upgrade it if they agree there is a pattern failure here while under warranty otherwise it's probably original spec. Given the years they last I don't think they see a need for it but anything's possible.

Either will work just fine
@@JonnyFixif I’m getting a reading of .3 ohms, does that tell me the diode is not the problem?
@@ianpascua8690 0.3 is too low if you are measuring each end of the diode then it's bad.
Impressive! Well done !
Thanks for sharing!
Great video usually that's the culprit. Last time i turned on the module burnt that very same ic and welded it to the board
Got mine fixed! Same problem. Thanks a ton.
Well done!
Thanks a lot, works fine for me too. Fixed!
I did exactly in the video and it worked for a good 5min but now it won’t turn on again, I checked the diode and it does not beep on either side
Do you know if I need to replace the same diode again?
Hard to know. A should only go in one direction. Did you put it in the correct way? Great video and I had the same problem. Thank you!!
Grazie mille 🙏🙏 ho riparato il mio Bose con solo 1 euro!!
Please could you tell me if you used the same diode you used for the bose 700?
Yes I did
Where do you buy the diode from
Bedankt
can you please help me to fix mine, where are you based
Awesome ! thanks from Italy!

Much appreciated! Glad you found it useful.
It works for me, thank you!!!
That button is for pairing with sound bar
Very interesting job ! thank you my friend
Cheers mate!
He I have Bose subwoofer 500 not working can you help me fix it ?I can shipping for you.
Sorry mate, I don't accept mail-in jobs. Find a local repair tech and show them this video it might help them.
Those things seem jinxed.
Why is this happening with the bass?
Maybe under rated for the job
@@JonnyFix what you mean?
The diode isn't a high enough rating e.g. maybe it should have a 3 amp one instead of a 2 amp one.
Nice fix!!!

Your english is pretty good. 0.5ohm is bad, replacing it will be a good start.

Hey Jonny fix. Thanks for great guide. My bass module turns on but gives no sound and led blinks red. Any idea what that could be?
I've not seen this fault sorry. The user manual may give some idea as to what LED state means.
