      @complex_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      yup, can confirm. just got mine to work with the jaycar 100V 3A diodes. bit bigger and they're not the same casing but you can make it work. i believe these FR diodes get a bit hotter than the B2100 so just make sure you leave the diode with plenty surface area to dissipate the heat.

      Did the same, and it works just fine. So disappointed with Bose that a small component is so unreliable. Bose quoted $200 to fix it while the component cost 0.50c

    Amazing and thank you so much. Your solution has fixed mine too. Diodes from China on eBay- I ended up receiving 50 by mistake so plenty of room for errors, but did it with the first one. Used a pointed scalpel to remove the glue- cut down vertically in the shape you want to remove then just lever up the glue. Worked a treat. I'm sure people know this, but for soldering, hold the diode upside down very gently in some small grips and dot solder on both the terminals. Hold it with tweezers in position and just apply heat on each connection until the solder melts and sinks down- be patient. Hold it in place until the solder cools then do the other side. The line on the diode goes to the left- hard to see on the original. Thanks again and much appreciated.

    Many thanks for sharing this. Part ordered on eBay,delivered from China to France in 2 weeks. Subwoofer fixed and now working ! The most annoying thing is to remove the glue and clean the contacts on the board after removing it. I should advise using a iron soldering where you can set the temperature.

    Thnx tonne mate !!! Acoustimass back to life after 5 months !!!
    B2100 is out of stock across the entire world..... finally tried an alternative- SS210 works flawlessly...... lets hope it stays that way.

    Thanks very much for the video. I had exactly the same issue with my Bose subwoofer. After 4.5 years, it literally just died overnight. Glad I found this video. I followed the instructions and the subwoofer is working again.
    The link you provided for the part, the supplier was out of stock. I found the part on digi-key. Glad I ordered five diodes as I fried one on my first attempt with a large soldering iron. Downsized the soldering iron and solder wire to 0.7mm and got the job done. Thanks again :)

    Thanks for this video. Ours died just before Christmas and conveniently after warranty expired. I thought I made a mess of it and had no expectation of a glowing light after powering on, but it did!
    Massive thanks to a commenter here who advises adding two blobs of solder to the reverse side prior to installing; this helped massively.

    After replacing the diode the device goes on and works sometimes a minute sometimes longer then it turns orange, off, white on and works again. And this goes like a loop. With the 3,5mm jak same issue.
    Any idea ?

    Thanks! I went to the local shop and they gave me a normal diode 60V 3A I believe, they told me it is sufficient.
    I also removed the glue around the diode using a precision knife instead of heating it. It took a bit longer but it was less messy. It works fine afterwards.

    I have had mine for not even 2 months i got it DEC 2021. The BASS module comes on, has the white light on, and is connected to the 700 soundbar and shows up on the app as connected. It just doesn't play any sound out of it at all. I don't know if this is the same issue or another one but its frustrating having something so expensive not work after such a short period of time.

    • @outie555two

      Yours is a different issue. In my issue the power wouldn't do into the circuits and the led did not go on. Don't know how to fix your problem, but maybe on the remote press "bass" then volume up. That controls the woofer volume independently of the sound bar volume.

  • @steve6375
    @steve6375 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I wouldn't put hot glue on the diode. That is probably the reason that it failed in the first place (my brothers Bose failed too and that had some glue on it)! Those diodes get hot and must dissipate heat into air. The hot glue is used around inductors to stop them whistling and also for mechanical fixing too. The person who was responsible for the hot glue was obviously trigger happy and covered over a critical component that needs to be in free air. If it fails again, next time clear away any old glue.

    I changed the diode you mentioned and the light doesn't turn on yet. Should I necessarily connect the board to the sub to check it works or is the light supposed to turn on anyway empty?

    • @outie555two

      You cannot physically see the damage to the chip. It's a common fault with this model and literally hundreds of people have swapped that chip out with a new one and got the speaker powering up and working again

    Thank you very much for this video! I have a question: I have an Acoustimass 300 (purchased in 08/2008) that stopped working this morning even though it was working yesterday and hasn't been moved for years. The LED does not light up anymore... How can I know if the failure can be repaired by your method? Is it (unfortunately) common enough to know that it's that? Comment: for the price of this equipment, it's incredible that the components of the subwoofer can just fail like this... Thanks in advance for your help!

    • @outie555two
      @outie555two  ปีที่แล้ว

      Its almost certainly going to be that problem. It's such a cheap and relatively easy method to replace the chip so you've really got nothing to loose. Obviously I cannot say for certain that it is your problem but a lot of people have had this issue resolved with the method in the video.

    After 4 years I have a connection issue with my AM300. After a few minutes the white indication light keeps switching to OFF --> AMBER ---> WHITE and then it keeps repeating, without any sound output. After turning off the Soundtouch 300 it works again for maybe 1 minute and then the issue repeats again. I already tried it with the 3.5mm wired connection but still the same issue. Anyone experienced this? Not sure if it is in some kind of "boot loop" but someone knows if this FIX here may also work for my problem??

      The faulty diode looked fine on the outside. You might be able to test it with a multimeter but if your speaker isn't turning on its probably that diode being faulty anyway.
