The best thing you've ever built. I'm sure it would hit 80 easily with balanced wheels and on a smooth track. Helmet, gloves, you don't want the road rash if you ever tip on that.

    • @gt1man931

Karts don't use them(steering damper), typically, if the front end is aligned there is no need. I guess one could retrofit one for a bike or quad, but it just adds unneeded weight.

I really enjoy watching your channel, you have a lot of skill and enginuity for your age.I've been a welder and a machinist going on 25 years+.I can tell you really enjoy working on your projects. Not meaning to rain on your parade or anything, but despite having done a good bit of stupid stuff when I was younger I have managed to make it to 47.
I have seen a lot of friends get injured and killed in that time. From experience if you are going to run that fast, especially on a public road you are sharing with cars and trucks, please get a helmet, cage and harness.
There are worse things than dying, being injured and out of a hobby or sport you love forever is one.Injuring or killing someone else is another.

I love this build man, I really do. I also love that he enjoys it a lot. I can tell he does. Also, anyone else realize that he broke just about every possible traffic law except for him being in the correct lane? That's how you know he really enjoys it. When he doesn't care about anything else. I'm sure he does care about the laws, but he sure as hell didn't at that moment. Have fun and be careful on that thing man, it can really hurt you. Wear some gear too.

Putting a return spring on your clutch and gas pedals will make driving it a lot easier. Go kart pedals are so light, it is hard to manage the travel on bumps. Having something to push on will makes a big difference

Looks like you need to extend the pedals so the contact point is on the ball of your foot. Will give you more linear control. Also, put in a heel rest so your leg isn't floating. That would help a lot as well, especially when taking off and the torque is pulling our foot back. That thing is crazy quick!

Cool kart man. I figured that thing would do about 70. Last video you didn't even have it lose to maxed out in 6th. I've ridden a bunch of different bikes growing up I've owned 84cr80,80yz80,85yz80,91rm80. I think the overall fastest one was the 1980yz 80. Maybe the suzuki, but it is to close for me to call. That old yz had an incredible top end. That thing must be a blast. Thanks for making the video it's pretty good.

One more thing, you don't really have to use the clutch for shifting - try just to shift it when lifting your leg instantly from the throttle pedal.

Its not necessary to clutch that engine to shift. You only need the clutch when you take off. Hence why shifter karts built to race have a paddle clutch and only use it once. Even in the CR80 and 125 classes

Seems like with the speeds this thing can reach and the quick steering of carts in general, seems like you would WANT paddle shifters so you can have both hands on the steering wheel at all times. Seems like in one of the prior ride videos someone commented saying to be sure to have a hand shifter or is that what he was talking about? I know nothing about this subject I just know this looks super fun.
