    I like how you actually get stuff done on your builds each video unlike so many other TH-camrs

    I also love your diverse selection of backing audio. Some youtubers use the same music over and over again. Drives a person nuts.

    Great work and great skills. I am building one myself from scratch and I'm using rack & pinion for steering, in a form of a bicycle sprocket and chain. It's not that hard to manufacture and you can feel every bump in your hands

    6 years later this helped me alot for how I need to make a shifter kart. I'm going to add a 200cc 5 speed engine and to increase hp a NRG steering wheel and underglow.

    I would highly recommend a tubing notcher. The closer the tubes fit, the stronger (and safer) they will be when welded up. Welding is about making two pieces of metal into one. It is definitely an art, but there is a lot of science that has gone into studying what makes it strong and in some cases light as well. I recommend looking at steel bicycles being TIG (GTAW) welded. you will probably never see any structure that is more on the edge of being strong and light at the same time. Also look at how to properly clean your metal before welding. Contamination in the welds will weaken the joints and make them prone to cracking. Still I admire your attitude as well as your skill for a home craftsman.

      I built one of these with a Suzuki 370 RM 2-stroke! I started with a Yamaha cart frame an cut the motor mount out of the Motor bike frame. Saves a lot of time. Was very loud an fast.

    I love these inspiring videos ❤, when you post up about building or modifying a frame to a shifter kart, you either have people that has faith and knows theres only so much to these karts, it can be done, side from costs, a lot think its better off to just to buy an actual shifter kart, but why not build something or build something up from little to your own custom own of a kind shifter kart! In all of these scenes where you see someone have a over time fixing up project, it is amazing to see it coming together! I've watched the other vids of this sweet kart, I'm just posting this as im building a shifter kart myself

    I picked up a kymco 250 4 stroke motor with 5 speed and reverse to build a shifter with for $100 it came with the radiator and everything else too lol your vid gave me a great idea for what I need to do

  • @t54760
    @t54760 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Impressive. If able sometimes would like to see how you go about getting the components aligned and square so it tracks properly.

    • @t54760
      @t54760 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And that is the reason for the request. Somewhere in the middle of your two extremes includes a lot of us. With the right technique and understanding of the basic logic we have a good chance of getting the frame aligned correctly.

    • @t54760
      @t54760 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a legitimate request and is pertinent to the build. You are adding nothing to the conversation. Instead, you are trying to make yourself look bigger by belittling other people. GFY.

    • @Gu1tarZer0
      @Gu1tarZer0 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I almost always get problems trying to eyeball it because of the metal warping as it cools lol, but fine measurements and clamps/weight usually help. I miss the big shop tables we had at school haha, super easy to fab on

    • @Gu1tarZer0
      @Gu1tarZer0 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      haha I had the benefit of multiple squares from the machine shop as well as a couple cubes, those were so handy!
      edit- and dont forget the aluminium angle (milled out inside corner so it's square all the way) it sucks some heat from the weld too, great for stainless TIG

    Hope you don't come to regret not beveling those tube welds bro, nice job, it's just that those karts have need of one break like the welds on the steering bolts to ruin your whole week and it one of those tube welds goes out while you are going down the road, it can pitch you head over butt, as I've seen it with a yz250 at about 66 mph, was not purty.

  • @Lonewolf3165
    @Lonewolf3165 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Anybody watching this and planning on building one, you seriously need to be able to notch the tubing correctly where they join to the other tubes. Just butt welding with open ends like he’s doing is dangerous because it’s not a strong joint. The contact area between the tubing is not enough. If this were a kart built to actually race there would be no sanctioning body that would allow it through a tech inspection. A properly notched tube would cover about 1/3 of the tube that it’s being joined into.

    Do not weld pipes dull together.
    The pipe become brittle next to the weld.
    Kart-frames do flex alot.
    Therefore the frame will breake next to the weld.
