Here's a video on some concepts that you could add to your training to increase your punching power. Which one do you like best?

it's about expansion and coordination of various movements in one single explosion, and flowing, you explain it very well...

Subbed. I also have always found that spring power has the double benefit of increasing speed. Excellent videos. Thanks for sharing.

clearly a knowledgeable martial arts practicioner on a very intellectual and scientific level in regards to physiology i really liked your break down of rotational force etc and being able to look at punching power having you break it down in this way has given me a clearer understanding of the bio mechanics has improved my own technique slightly. rather than just knowing how to do the motion the why and reason. I am sure you aware being at your level but i feel elastic recoil is also worth a mention im not sure if it may fall under spring force maybe

+sean hutchinson thanks! And Sure! Feel free to comment about elastic recoil here

Sure I can try my best to explain. This is probably a more advanced concept, For those viewers who are unfamiliar this is mostly a principle you would apply to your hooks as they are pulling punches. when you go to dip your opposite shoulder in order to get room to pivot as you step in you are cocking your arm back. In a sudden and explosive manner without telegraphing with the power starting from your feet up .and stretching your chest like a chest fly laying on your back on an elevated bench. dont move your hand initially. leave it behind. at that moment your chest is stretched not unlike a giant rubber band creating great deal of potential energy as soon as you cannot stretch back any more u want to snap it into the looping movement and rip it across with your pivot (rotational force). you still want to be very relaxed up to your fist until the point of impact. I think Sifu David may have used the comparison as your fist like a rock on the end of a rope which is great. this definitely will add power to your hooks using simple science and also save energy. I hope that makes sense! Thanks

Cool explanation! Thanks for your input. Yes elastic force works well for hooking / swinging motions. I might do a tutorial on how to hit harder with hooks (so far I've been doing mainly straight punches / crosses.

Thanks bro. Look forward to it you do good work. when it comes to practical combat I think bruce lee is the pioneer when it comes to not letting the roadblocks of a certain discipline get in the way of efficiency and what works. Jeet Kune do was the first example of this. There are so many techniques and ways to do them that I think keeping it simple to what works and what plays to your own natural style biomechanically and not being too fancy is the key to being the ultimate fighter. when the chips are down and your rocked or in trouble in a real fight natural instinct and training subconsciously will take over. If you are thinking and overanalyzing too much it takes too long to react. A great man once said "I fear not the man who knows 1000 kicks but the man who practices one kick 1000 times" or something to that affect. Respect man, be like water!

When I use really heavy strikes on punching bag my head shakes and brain jars. This causes immediate pain in head like a concussion.
How do you prevent this? Because it's stopping me from training hard strikes.
I sink my hips and drive forward, using a straight palm strike with my arm close to the side of my body. There's no snap.

Try working out neck? Having a bigger and stronger neck creates much more stability for the head- which is what you want.

I wish you guys would NOT used that ridiculous wedge stroke Font for the title of your school. Just use normal fonts, and put traditional Chinese characters next to them.
