1. Take a bucket 2. Fill bucket with sand 3. Punch sand inside the bucket 4. After you can't punch anymore(you get tired) grip sand with each arm repeatadly. 5. When you get tired switch to the previous exercise 6. Do that every day. You will strenghten your fists and the punch, you will strenghten the forearms and you will have a better and stronger grip.
Jake Mace says a lot of smart things in this video! Very impressed! The iron training is not about forming huge calluses, bleeding, damaging your fists. Iron training is about slowly making your bones and skin thicken to a point where if you hit something hard, you barely feel any pain, your bones do not shatter, your skin does not rip or bruise as well as your fists recover from any injury very quickly. That's why you cannot speed up this process. It needs to be done right, slowly and gradually in order to be successful. I am also glad that he remembered to state that damaging the tree is not good.
greg Isaacs A particular breed of snake could drop a full grown Birch 🌳! Now snakes 🐍 and trees 🌲 are not natural enemies, they don’t normally fight! But if the the tree 🌲 were to attack first!.. Not going to argue the other two, but banana trees are notoriously soft. It’s not even an actual tree because it doesn’t have true wood tissue. Again that doesn’t argue the others, just that one example.
Bone training really works. I was once doing some Wing Chun blocking exercises with a kid who trained in Mantis style Kung Fu where a big part of his conditioning was bone work. Despite being skinny his forearms were like hitting a pipe! It HURT!
I do Tae Kwon do and my shins have gotten pretty tough. I went to a friends house where my brother picked up a stick and told me that he saw somewhere in a movie or something that people broke sticks across their shins. I turned around for a second and WHAM he hit me, the stick broke, and I hardly felt a thing thanks to the power of conditioning.
I do that with nearly every bone, or lightly punching certain spots. Those iron rods help and he did mention using them on the ribs. I've heard red tiger balm is meant for bone healing or deep muscle issue like that. Green is for normal muscle layer and white for skin conditioning healing or skin injuries.
I had an uncle that, back in the day, made a living as a Prize Fighter during the Depression. A great guy, soft spoken, was probably 155 lbs. back in his prime. Fought behind truck stops and what not. No gloves. His hands had seen little mercy. When I knew him, he was pretty old, in his 70s but not like people in their 70s today. Anyway, his knuckles were HUGE. All gnarled up from arthritis. He could hardly move his fingers. Whenever I saw makiwara boards, I always thought of the old man and his mangled hands. Jake? I have been watching your videos for the past month and i haven't subscribed until now. I'm not sure why i haven't subscribed earlier but the reason i hit the sub button was because the information that you are sharing with viewers interested is very useful and not sugar coated. Also, I admire the fact that you are humble and that you respect nature. My son is 7 years old and we put him through kyokushin training just to build his confidence and it is something that he can use to defend himself in the future. I have watched your videos in practicing nunchaku and i have sharpened every techniique you have shared in the videos and passed that on to my son. Thank you!
So if you are starting out doing this... how long should I rest afterward? Should I punch trees day 1, then sand day 2, then my open palm day 3, then back to trees?
I'd done conditioning for a while and all the people saying it doesn't work, you obviously havnt done it or done it properly anyways. You don't just full on hit a wall, unless you're an idiot. You start slow and then move on from that. I've gotten to the point where i feel no pain when i punch trees metal or wood. It took me 2 years to develop the right technique for the training and 3 years to get to this stage. It's worth it in the end, it also strengthens your wrist so it doesnt break when throw a punch. So all you people out there saying it doesn't work, I proved you wrong.
The body is designed for survival, so it sacrifices bone density to protect the kidneys and urinary tract because the latter are essential to survival. And the most readily available source of acid neutralizer is in the bones. So even though milk contains calcium, it ends up sapping your bones of that crucial mineral.
It actually does work only in the future it will lead to big problems the tree is slow and steady which will benefit in the long term punching a wall will be quick and full of pain but as I said long term problems.
I am 52 and aware that we females lose bone density at a rapid pace after 50. To reduce this loss, I am practicing martial arts. I like your videos on strengthening the bones. I hope that your methods will help as well. However, I think that I could get the benefits from punching and kicking the kicking bag for martial arts training. : ) By the way, I agree that it does take time to be skillful by lots of daily practice of proper form even if have to start out slowly. It has nothing to do with using power or force. So many new learners think that kicking the kicking bag super hard or punch hard to have bruised knuckles or bloodied knuckles equal more skillful but their forms are continue to be terrible.

@Hunter Hall add cushioning if it hurts too much. Then remove the cushioning when ready. It worked for me. Just adding in on what you said for others reading.
Just noticed in the forearm reps... Your non-striking hand is up, tight to the chest, following the movement of the striking arm. I highly recommend you drop this hand down to the stomach region. Striking arm/hand is up. Striking arm/hand is down. This is called a “cover”. Just a good practice, as in combat, you want to cover the undefended upper-body region. When striking an opponent, their natural body mechanics responding to your blow can cause their limbs to rise up towards you, and your “cover” will be ready to defend. Also, there are times when you strike your opponent and they are striking you simultaneously. Your strike will often act as a block, defending the upper part of the upper body, and your “cover” will be ready to defend the lower part of your upper body. When throwing strikes to the face, the cover drops even lower, to the waist region to catch any legs or knees that come up as a result of striking the opponent so high on their body.

I've been training Iron Fist for almost 2 years, legit, I fracture my knuckle bone during the training and then it heals after several weeks, it really changes my fist into iron because during all the training I did, my knuckle's bone slowly gets bigger and my whole arm is slowly getting darker than my bodies skin because all the training I did and I have break a brick, you need to be patient to get the iron fist so do it slowly like I did I'm not punching things HARD instead I training all day hitting a tree with normal punches, I do make my knuckles bleed that point because its not a smooth tree I picked, right now I'm training with smooth things so I'll be fine.
Have you heard of bone marrow? If not, you will most likely learn about it when you hit 7th grade. I hope you sited sources before thoughtlessly making this comment.
Nice informative video. Just two questions, How many days does the human body take to heal all the beating done on it's bones ? Does this form of body's recuperation to deal with damage on it's bones have any negative impact during one's senior life such has arthritis, or loss of sensation ?
I imagine it's done gently enough to avoid causing long term harm; but I've wondered about that myself. You want to strengthen, but definitely not cause nerve damage, etc. 😅
What makes this video is the fact that he pointed out you don't want bloody knuckles. It's not to break the tree. I punch flat faced metal at work lightly solid and repeatedly for five or ten mins at a time. I have never broken a bone but I boxed for a long time and the slow development and healing of microfractures actually shortened my wrist to Knuckle bones and curved them. My wrist pain got a lot better afterwards too. No negativity on the dexterity of my fingers or grip either.
1. Take a bucket
2. Fill bucket with sand
3. Punch sand inside the bucket
4. After you can't punch anymore(you get tired) grip sand with each arm repeatadly.

Yes, patience and consistency!
Not sure blood flows "to your bones" can you cite sources?
Vanishing Gates Mmmmm lol they do mate. Ask any doctor or surgeon
Have you heard of bone marrow? If not, you will most likely learn about it when you hit 7th grade. I hope you sited sources before thoughtlessly making this comment.
it's more a comment of semantics than thoughtless. But thanks for playing.

Minecraft in a nutshell
The people driving past “ the fuck did that tree do to him “
Nice informative video. Just two questions,
How many days does the human body take to heal all the beating done on it's bones ?
Does this form of body's recuperation to deal with damage on it's bones have any negative impact during one's senior life such has arthritis, or loss of sensation ?
I imagine it's done gently enough to avoid causing long term harm; but I've wondered about that myself. You want to strengthen, but definitely not cause nerve damage, etc. 😅
*looks at video*
Thoughts: "Damn Steve, when did you get that new high-quality-almost-real-like quality?"

Yes
Wolverine confirmed
WD lol
You Americans think just because you have soft bones he's wolverine try to fight SA white boxers then you'll see the truth
I’m german bro
What makes this video is the fact that he pointed out you don't want bloody knuckles. It's not to break the tree. I punch flat faced metal at work lightly solid and repeatedly for five or ten mins at a time. I have never broken a bone but I boxed for a long time and the slow development and healing of microfractures actually shortened my wrist to Knuckle bones and curved them. My wrist pain got a lot better afterwards too. No negativity on the dexterity of my fingers or grip either.
When minecraft just doesnt hit the right spot anymore
