actually, kurt said himself in a 93' interview that he writes all the songs for nirvana and that scentless apprentice was the only song that band worked together on. in fact it's well documented that kurt came screaming at his bandmates in rome at a hotel demanding more nirvana royalties because he did all the writing. he ended up getting 70% of all the nirvana royalties and krist and dave spit the rest.

Not entirely true....kurt held a meeting after nevermind exploded seeking 60% of all royalties and 100% of all song writing revenues and threatened to end the band if he didn't get it....previously the band agreed to split all revenues equally....issue was when kurt died there was no formal contract depicting who got what between the three....courtney just wanted everything

"you didn't write any of the songs" except Krist wrote the bassline to almost every single song, Dave wrote most all the post 1990 drum stuff, plus Dave wrote the riff to Scentless Apprentice, they probably helped Kurt with melodies and lyrics here and there too. What did Courtney do? Probably less than Krist and Dave, that's for sure!
Dave even wrote an entire song, Kurt liked it enough to make it a B-side.

"didn't write one song". Both Novoselic and Grohl contributed to Smells Like Teen Spirit, Cobain's original version is said to have sounded "ridiculous" until they had their input. Grohl wrote most of Scentless Apprentice. Also keep in mind that just because Kurt Cobain is solely credited with most Nirvana songs, does not mean others did not influence the process, therefore the outcome of the music.

The only person who seems to be financially motivated by the Nirvana name is Courtney. Dave, Pat, Krist and Sir Paul performed at a BENEFIT for Sandy Victims. She acts like she was part of Nirvana. This is because that is the closest thing she still has to celebrity left. Her contempt for Dave is founded in the fact that he went on to huge success and adoration along with accomplishing some downright cool ass feats (Sound City). She needs to scoop up her face and just carry it away somewhere like rehab.

Haha. Neither the Beatles nor Nirvana were of my generation, I'm a child of '97. However, I grew up listening to the Beatles (I pretty much ONLY listened to the Beatles until about 2010 when my brother played Coldplay for me), and now I'm getting really into Nirvana as of the past month or two.

It says in the liner notes for Nevermind that Dave and Krist had involvement in the development of "Smells Like Teen Spirit", and in the liner notes for In Utero it says that Dave and Krist had involvement in the development of "Scentless Apprentice". So in reality, they did have participation in the production of the music. Good lord Courtney, keep up. That's your first argument completely debunked. And also, I may be wrong but Dave and Krist were actually in Nirvana, since they recorded the music and toured. You didn't.

Teen Spirit wasn't co-authored. Kurt brought the song to practice one day, and the other guys weren't really into it. I know Vig had some input on how many times they played certain parts, but I don't believe Krist and Dave had anything to do with the writing. And it surely wasn't their only hit. In Bloom, Lithium, Heart Shaped Box, etc.

I really really hate when she claims Kurt wrote everything. He wrote all the lyrics and guitar yes, but so many of their songs came about through jam sessions and therefore NO Kurt did not tell Krist and Dave what to do on bass and drums (respectively). They all deserve writing credit imo, Kurt just deserves most of it. All 3 remaining band members deserve Nirvana money more than the wife.
