      Amma B Amma , you can do angel investing in start up companies, stocks, rent and AirBnB, make a down payment on a small property on the beach towns, and buy gold.

    I can see endless investment opportunities in Vietnam, but I do not see brand retail outlets being even remotely profitable. I have lived in Vietnam for 3 years and have never seen even 1/10th of the foot traffic that you would see inside of brand retail stores in comparison to even just Thailand.
    It has actually boggled my mind how many of them can afford to stay open. Vincom mega malls are just ghost towns full of window shoppers.

      You can also look at smaller malls in District 5, 10 and Binh Thanh as well, as they have lots of foot traffic and cater to locals more which is where the dollars are spent.

    BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF REAL ESTATE TRANSACTIONS IN VIETNAM FOR FOREIGNERS.
    In fact, foreigners can buy a house only in 2015. In the past, If wanted to invest only through the transfer of Vietnamese natives. If the person you are looking for is not reliable, it is easy to be punished. However, even if the real estate market is opened to foreigners, foreigners can’t buy a house, they can only buy an apartment (houses are single-family houses, which are basically old-fashioned houses, and apartments are apartments, generally high-rise and community buildings that are currently under construction) . In Vietnam, the house is more popular with middle-aged and elderly people, because the house has permanent property rights and land ownership, and house prices have risen relatively fast. But foreigners cannot buy it. The house in the downtown area is very expensive, and the annual increase can basically reach 25~35%. The price is basically the same as that of Beishangguang. A better house often starts at $1 million and is not capped. At the highest, I've seen a single house with a turnover of 4.37 million USD.
    Next, let's talk about the apartment that is more suitable for non-Vietnamese investment. If a foreigner buys it, it is a 50-year title, but when it expires, it can be renewed for free once. You can think of it as a 100-year title. For foreigners, the investment house that can basically be inspected only needs to consider the apartment.
    Due to property rights restrictions, foreigners are not recommended to buy second-hand housing, but foreigners who want to "buy" second-hand housing can only buy it from foreigners, and if they want to "sell" second-hand housing, they can sell it to locals and foreigners.
    In addition, foreigners cannot buy loans in banks.

    What's your opinion on Vietnam ever revaluing their money so it would be worth something?

    • @duongglobalbusinessconsulting
      @duongglobalbusinessconsulting  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Dong is what we call a pegged currency. Pegging a currency stabilizes the exchange rate between countries. Doing so provides long-term predictability of exchange rates for business planning so that you can plan to invest without going back to your financials to adjust currency exchange rate.

    Great video ! What is Vietnam's point of view about polluting industries ? I recently left China, and landed in Saigon. Many of my European clients in China were thinking of moving to Vietnam, as China is getting stricter towards polluting industries (e.g. chemical).
    Can we expect VN to accept any kind of industries to contribute to its development ? Or VN is already thinking about environment (e.g. Refusing to recycle trash coming from JP)?

      Lots of companies immigrated to Vietnam are suggested to adopt the “China plus one” strategy and Vietnam govt is strictly assessing FDI from the greater China. I'm a Chinese lawyer working in KPMG Hanoi office, feel free to reach out in this regard, weixin: sheychu.

    Love Vietnam personally even know I never been but I sure look forward to it. Still my question is to know how Vietnamese governments guarantees foreign investment? Specially when investors with low capitals can’t compete with big corporations? I have echo of several big time corruption just like in any other countries.

    How is IP piracy policy in Vietnam? Many people I have met here in California have told me this is one of their constant concerns when they were in China! They are scouting to move their manufacturing plants out of China right now.

      Lam Van Dinh there is a National Office IP, which protects the registration of trademarks, copyrights and patents and also many law firms focused on enforcement of IP, including the port authorities for counter products. Moreover, IP rights have been discussed and approved in the CPTPP, RCEP and ASEAN FTA, thus much stronger protections than in China.
