Thank you for all the assistance with helping me to sort my thoughts and anxiety out in a way that's healthy, and not harmful in a mental way. A lot of times, I berate myself mentally for being "afraid" or anxious about something, or to try or do something, but I need to remember what you said about...okay, so, what would someone without anxiety do?....and then give that a try. You know your stuff, and I appreciate the coping tools.

      @pausemental 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

@@adamsparks3448 the way that I deal with it now is, I receive it as a guest, I acknowledge that it isn't who I am but rather look at it as it has arrived within me again ( the anxious guest) I analyze it while it is there, it's kind of like "hello darkness my old friend you've come to sit with me again" and I just let it run its course but I don't receive it within my whole being , if that makes sense. Separate yourself from it, pinpoint where the filling is located ,often times in your shoulders and in your back and focus on that for a little while but understand that it is not you and know that it will go away. It's a temporary visitor. Kind of like when your boss calls you into the office, it's uncomfortable but the moment will end.

@@RandomGuy-py3el Look to get rid of anxiety-when you need to do something. I understand your fear . But look, start breathing deeply + still hold your breath as much as you can, then rub your hands on your earlobes and the palms of your hands. Still any physical exercises from squats or jumps . And then there's the life hack. Imagine that you are a fish and you are swimming with the current and-when you have a panic alarm . You feel like you're in a cage. But imagine that you have no panic and you are free - you need to learn to see more around you. Look at objects or people and divert your fear to something else

Although I am a Russian person who lives in Russia, I often watch videos related to getting rid of fear and anxiety. And I always write them down in my notebook. And the most important fear is our thoughts . We are afraid of what is not there. Either we are afraid to do something that we don't know, or if we had a negative experience .. Personally, how I motivate myself. I take deep breaths up to 10 times and stupidly go and do not care even if the alarm. And then I write down my feelings in a notebook .. And then when I have to do something again - and I'm scared - I read what I felt . And somehow it becomes easier

Only time id get a break is when I was sleeping. But I’ve gotten better, at calming myself and understanding. Now I just occasionally feel weird, it really does help knowing you’re not gonna feel this way forever. The anxiety is gonna go away, it can come from stress building up too! I have been suffering from anxiety disorder from the start of the pandemic and the thing that helps me the most is closing my eyes and focusing on my breath whilst telling my self that this will pass. Another thing during a severe panic attack is not reacting on it and staying still. I get the urge to move in a frantic way so while i dont act upon it, it makes it easier to deal. Another major thing is meditation. It helps. You will get through this and nothing bad will happen.

If it makes you feel better your mind creates a lot of fears that most likely won’t happen in real life. A lot of them manage to beat it! So you can too❤️

I went to the bathroom and saw my pupils were massive, ran to my boss, we took my heart rate and It was 130 and my body began to snake. Ever since, it’s like every little thing triggers It. I can’t fall asleep without feeling my heart racing, sometimes i feel like i can’t breathe and my chest is tight. I try to distract myself but It just doesn’t work. I try to talk to others, and they just say to ignore It... i sometimes will be walking and all of a sudden i feel like I’m off balanced, like I’m sinking into the floor and then my heart begins to race and i panic. The only thing that has worked for me and has gotten me to recovery is Acceptance and Commitment therapy. I have no control over what my body does, what thoughts come into my head, though I have control over what I choose to do. Over time, those peaks have lessened and lessened. I still have my moments, though I know that they will fade.
Attempting to get rid of anxiety only makes it worse, because you are expecting for it to return again so you are on guard for when you may or may not have an anxious moment.
Mindfulness isn't about getting rid of anxiety, it's about allowing it to be there and accepting what is, verses what was or might be. People get caught in a loop.

Hey Ali. Ive suffered from anxiety for years. I hope you know, how powerful it is for a clinical psychologist admitting openly, and share about his personal fight with anxiety. Hats of to you. I also hope you know how big it is, being treated by somone who really understand what youre going through, and not just from text books.. I always say the best midwifes have kids ;)
I was once told to stop trying to "get rid" of my anxiety, rather I should take its hand and learn to lead it, not follow it.. Always gave me a powerful image.
As for what has helped me.. I always find it helps to ocupy your thoughts.. Like with a game, play with your kids/nieces/nephews.. Always liked to have music close at hand, and a shower always helped me too..
Thanks for posting this. And keep up the good fight.

Plus, even if I'm afraid to do something, I reread what I wrote out - what I need to do or recommendations when there is an alarm. And how to get rid of it . And I do. Yes, first there is an alarm. But she's not always with you. It's just that we drive our brain into a negative state and this causes anxiety

These are a wide variety of techniques to use. I've used some before and yes it takes a while to figure out what works best for you. This also give me tips to use journalling in a different way. And I'm definitely going to put couple of techniques on trial and error soon. Such videos have been a source of self help for me, which have helped me reduce the intensity of my anxiety in specific situations.

Awesome to hear! Journaling can be a great tool but you also don’t need to do it forever. I dive in and out of journaling based on what’s going on in my head.

That’s awesome that you use journaling! Have you ever tried song writing for your mental health? As a board certified music therapist working in mental health, I find that for my folks who struggle with writing for long periods of time lyric writing a good format for them.

I just wanted to comment about this helped me calm down when having a sudden anxiety attack. My parents had a really bad fight and it took awhile for it to affect me, it was sudden but I tried to do the breathing technique I usually use. It wasn't doing anything, I was able to stay calm enough to think about finding more techniques. The 5-4-3-2-1 helped me the most. I'm so thankful for videos like this

I’m sorry your parents arguing, caused you anxiety. This happens in our household too. I’m a mom, and I know how it also effects my son, when his dad and I argue. I’m glad you’re seeking help. I’m seeking help too !

Hey! I just saw you talk at my school, and you were great! I had a question, but I was 1. Too nervous to get up and 2. We barely had any time. So, my question is: how can I deal with self harm? I’ve been clean for over a year and a half, but I’ve been falling deeper into a pit, and it feels inescapable. It also doesn’t help with the stress of school and social life.
I know this is off the main point of the video, but I wasn’t able to get my question out earlier today. Thanks!

i have very bad anxiety, i will start crying when i think of something horrible that happened in the past so long ago. i really need somebody to talk to instead of holding it in, especially when i feel lonely. only my mom and my older sister get what im going through right now. i just really need comfort😭

For me it has changed so much over the years, now I get sick, vomiting, diarrhea. The when there's nothing more that comes out, I'm just incredibly nauseous. It's been over 24h now but my stomach is still cramping and if I give into my anxiety I will start shaking and vomiting again... Right now i can feel the tingly feeling I get when it wants to creep up.... I wish I could stop it quicker.
