    If your jet ski surges it probably has an air leak in the fuel system. In this video I show some common things to look for when inspecting fuel components.
    This video is a personal documentary of my work and is NOT a "how to" video. As such you should never try to attempt to do any of these repairs without proper training for which this video is no substitute.

    Ok so I looked around. There is a guy who sells just that rubber top seal...no clamp for 75.00 on ebay. Too pricey for me but less expensive than a new sending unit. You really need a cv boot clamp to replace the old one as the area of rubber is not as wide as a standard clamp in that size.

    Hey thanks for the information I have an XLT 1200 and a GP 1200 I have taken them to several mechanics and they could not find out why the Jeske surge from lack of fuel now I know why thanks for the information if I would’ve seen this video a while ago it would’ve saved me thousands of dollars thanks

      This is the reason I make videos. To share knowledge and to learn more from the comments section. The guy on ebay sells just those boots for 75.00 which is still a big savings over replacing the entire unit. I hope you get yours fixed soon.

    A mixture of Alcohol and peppermint oil will also bring hard rubber back to life. Plus it smells minty fresh. It should help keep it from breaking any more.

    Don't forget to replace your rave valve Clips with the new lever links because the pin will vibrate out of the factory ones and it will drop the rave valve into the engine

    And always watch out on top of your pump sending unit in those little elbows that are aluminum there are O-rings on the bottom if one of those leak it will fry your motor as well

    I really appreciate what you're explaining great video! I'm only halfway through. My 00 XL limited is loud beeping and no start issue. Thinking maybe the sending unit is failing me, and I was surging last summer.

      Loud beeping can be low oil, overtemp or limp mode I think.

    I have a jet ski that’s cranking but no fuel pumping. Trie another sending unit but still won’t start. What else would cause it to not pump fuel?

    • @ShadetreeJetski
      @ShadetreeJetski  ปีที่แล้ว

      You have an air leak causing lack of pressure to build up in your tank. The fuel cap gasket may be cracked or split in two. Pressure test the fuel system to find the leak with soapy water and low air pressure 3psi, pumped into the return line. The selector valve orings also could be bad or the carbs have bad diaphragms.

  • @cobeygraves3588
    @cobeygraves3588 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So I got a 2000 suv 1200. It’s only running on reserve. No fuel flow to the carbs in the on position. But put it on reserve and it cranks on the first spin.

    • @ShadetreeJetski
      @ShadetreeJetski  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your o rings are bad on your fuel selector switch. I did a video on it. It could be a bad oring in the fuel pickup but most likely the selector valve.

    • @ShadetreeJetski
      @ShadetreeJetski  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cobeygraves3588 If that doesnt fix it then you have a bad oring on your fuel pickup tube. You really need to replace those as well, but they are not nearly as easy to change.

    Would this cause a hard start issue? I have 2001 xl800, the first start of the day or after it sits for a few hours it’ll take like a very long time of cranking to start. Once it’s running I can turn it off and it’ll fire right back up until it sits. If I pull the plugs and spray starting fluid in it, itll start for a split second

    • @ShadetreeJetski
      @ShadetreeJetski  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You could be losing fuel vacuum pressure from a cracked sending unit gasket or cracked fuel cap gasket. Likely though it is the carbs popoff pressure isnt correct.

    • @ShadetreeJetski
      @ShadetreeJetski  ปีที่แล้ว

      I was unable to pull an empty tube with my 800. The pull point forces the tube to dig into the water as it is too low.

    I have a 1996 1100cc and it runs fine until full throttle soon as it hit like 50 or 55 it dies and then hard to start like it starving for gas. This only happened after it sat this winter. I used normal gas last year but put a stabilizer I. It and only one of my matching set runs this way. What should I look for

    • @ShadetreeJetski
      @ShadetreeJetski  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you used ethanol fuel you have yellow gunk in your carb. I have heard of electronics causing this as well cdi box or stator when they heat up.

    • @jessejames7140
      @jessejames7140 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ShadetreeJetski ok thanks I will start there tomorrow after I get this 2004 1200 yamaha suv. Getting one more for back up. Another question how come they can't hit 63mph like the othe 1200 and 1100cc is there a governor

    • @ShadetreeJetski
      @ShadetreeJetski  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @jessejames7140 I talked to Mark at Erickson's machine and he said that 70mph is usually the top speed for most production skis because of the drag of the water.
      My 1998 gp1200 was much faster than the 2004 1200xlt. It was lighter and it had no powervalves. My gp1300r would do 71 on the lake.on smooth water. It was faster than I cared to go. As I understand it all of the stock electronics have rev limiters built into them. So I would say yes they are governed. The performance people, like Mark know how to squeeze more power out of these engines. I simply stay stock and dont know much about performance parts.

    • @ShadetreeJetski
      @ShadetreeJetski  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Vapor locking OR..is the fuel tank slowly losing pressure and the fuel runs out of the line back into the tank. Check the fuel cap gasket for cracks.

      @DelongDavid94 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To add… I purchased the ski from someone and it sat for 3 years with hardly any fuel in there… are there oring’s somewhere else besides the fuel selector valve that could be drawing air causing to not get a vacuum?
