Awesome video thanks!!!
What size tygon hose was that for your oil sending to the carburetor?
Hey Shadetree Jetski, Love the powervalve videos. Very informative for me!! May I ask you what engine rebuild manual I can or should purchase before rebuilding my Yamaha Waverunner XLT 1200? Much appreciate your videos and knowledge.
I never used a manual, but I think there are pdf files online.
I have a 88 js550 that runs fine but has problems after 20 minutes of riding. If you turn it off it won’t start for 30 minutes or so. Could this be stator issue?
@mattsmobileautodetailing is definitely an electronic part heating up and not working when hot due to loose solder joints. It's most likely a cdi box. Redneck fix is to remove it...cook it in the oven at low temp for 30 mins NO MORE THAN 250 DEGREES!! Let it cool and see if that resolders the joints THIS IS NOT A PERMANENT FIX ,but if it works like it should afterwards, you got a bad cdi box. It will most likely fail soon after. It's best to just replace it. You could do this stator test while it is not starting to verify your stator is good make sure you test for continuity to ground when it is hot.
Were those power valves packed with grease? Or was it carbon?
@@SleepingGaint carbon
thanks for this vid it worked for me. could not get pressure at all and i just basically did what you said and it started working!
@@Jronesfpv Glad it helped you.
I have a yamaha waverider 700 Ra with same problem
WTF I was wondering why you didnt have any recent videos. People suck! You make great videos that we need. Set up a go fund me, you have a ton of subs, if even only half of us gave a buck you’d be fine. Set it up, I’ll be the first to donate.
@SleepingGaint nobody gives a damn. I gave away the rest of what I still had. Its ok I had a decent run and the channel still gets views. No good deed goes unpunished. 10k worth of stuff stolen finished me off.
You stick with the CV carbs? I have a beautiful carb, but everyone is telling me to ditch them and get the cdk2. They are very expensive used. I bought the ski 2 weeks ago and gutted it to do a complete rebuild. What would you do? Thanks
@keithphillips1234 I did because they still work. The cdk2 are ideal if you can get a set.
I have a 01 LX 800. Today the display started blinking on and off rapidly and everytime it turns on it beeps. Very annoying. Ive checked all the plugs and wiring and everything seems good. Could it be the whole display just needs to be replaced? So times it’ll work for a short while before it starts turning on and off again. The ski seems to run fine despite the display mail functioning. Any suggestions? Thank you
@SleepingGaint It could be a bad oil sensor or your engine temp sensor could be bad. Both of those will cause beeping. I have also had the display beep until you press the mode button.
@@ShadetreeJetski thanks for the reply. The ski has oil pump delete. It’s not just beeping, the whole display goes out and beeps when it comes back on like it does when I start it. I had to just unplug the buzzer for now. Just wondering if I should pick up a used display on eBay for 300 or if there was any other things to try first. When it’s not blinking on and off Theres no beeping and ski runs fine.
@@ShadetreeJetski I’m about to install a D plate too. That will bypass the temp sensor Correct?
Looking great how much top speed ?
@@handelchiong5433 it was 70mph on smooth water, but it was stolen.
I would have gone over EVERY circuit and maybe not found that hack! Worked right away. AWSOME job and thank you, now to the water
@@user-tk1dw9xx3l This is why I tried to make helpful videos. Thanks for commenting.
About to take this on myself rebuilding my 99 stx 1100, of all the previous jet ski engines and atv engines I’ve ever done. This particular machine, Cannot find a service manual anywhere so I know all my torque specs. At a standstill for the moment.
@keithphillips1234 Hardest part is reseating the triple cylinder back over the new piston rings. Having a helper is best.
I am having a no fuel problem and I suspect it is the pickup tubes. I was thinking I was going to have to pull the engine to get to the pickups but your video showed me how to do it . Thank you so much for this. Great video.
It was getting oil. You got a rear main seal leaking and it’s burning out the piston . Maybe even thru a bearing . The rear main seals are known to start leaking gradually. Replaced seals , rebuild carbs
Smart idea. Question. I just bought a Tiger Shark 640 in pieces. No fuel Pump. Is that a regular pulse type fuel pump? I imagine it gets an impulse vacuum from the engine? Can you tell me exactly where? Thanks
Inside the carb a plastic diaphragm.
@@atypicalhiker oh. Okay. Awesome. Thank you. 👍
Hi Friend 👋. Can I ask you another question? So I take it the spigot off of the lower intake manifold is the pulse for the carb spigot that would operate the internal carb fuel pump. Which I have connected a hose to and from. Also there is a tank vent line from the tank which tees off. One side connects to a fuel filter. Where is it’s destination? The other to a vent. Where is this vent located on the ski? Thanks.
I think I have it figured out. 👍
Ty sir I have one of these old skis working on getting it on the water
Someone just bought an aftermarket power valve and left the stock one on the front cylinder.
I’m looking at a running 2002 xl 800, it cavitates bad outta the hole but then hooks up. Previous said he put a new wear ring in it last year and it fixed the problem but not for long. What things should I check other then the impeller? Thank you
Fill the shoe and seal around it really well.
what did you do to make the center carburetor work as the others?
I reseated the rubber slide as it wasnt seated properly. A non firing cylinder will cause the same problem. Bad plug usually but could also be a bad plug boot or coil.
riding ski near ideal and it sounded like a miss and cutting out / 1st guess start stop switch?
Loose plug wire.
Hey what’s the meaning of an out of control rev? Say I hit the throttle and reach 4500-5k rpm all of sudden the ski revs up high on its own. Without me pressing the throttle at all and will hold that high rpm. Only way to get it down is pulling the choke to flood it. Is that an air problem?
Yes you are sucking air running too lean.
@@ShadetreeJetski how can trouble shoot which area? Spray carb cleaner or starting fluid in places?
@RefinedMayweather usually the base gasket is sucking air.
@@ShadetreeJetski ok makes sense past owner did a carb rebuild and possibly damaged it, reused the old worn one, or didn’t align it properly
@@ShadetreeJetski also when it’s on the water it sputters at full throttle until I open the choke up slightly and runs better. Starves for fuel as well
Why my kawasaki zxi1100 2001 is not running mor then 20 mph
@jonathannieves9892 no way to diagnose over the internet. Probably a carb issue, but it could be cdi or ignition components.
Need your advice on my jet ski. I bought a non running 2009 Honda aquatrax 15x. It needs some work and when I put a battery in it, I have no power to starter, or ignition or some of the fuses on the fuse box. Checked all of the fuses and changed them out. Checked on/switch and cleaned it. Any help would be great

@prowashpluspressurewashing6717 the aquatrax had known isuues with the electronic box. There is a guy in Ny That can repair it for 1200 bucks if you send him the unit.. google search to find him. Parts are expensive on those. I personally wouldnt ever buy one.
Is it the same for the xlt1200 Yamaha wave runner.?
No,because the carbs are mounted on the side of the engine. You have to drill a hole and run a tube into the carb throat.
Hey what’s your number I could use some help with my ski if you don’t mind just got a couple questions
Everything read in the correct range of ohms and I still have no spark. I checked everything from the kill switch to the stater to the coil. Any idea of what it could be? I’ve been stuck on it for a couple days
Starter solenoid. Did you try jumping it across the terminals with a wrench.
@@ShadetreeJetski it turns over just no spark. I’ve looked for shorts coming from the stop button but it was open. I’m honestly stumped on it
@BLACKOPPSISGOLD probably a bad electronic control module.
@@ShadetreeJetski I ohmed the cdi box the stater the pulser and everything else. I even replaced the cdi box just in case and still no fire
@@BLACKOPPSISGOLD do you actually have 12 volts going INTO your cdi box?
My 01 Yamaha waverunner xlt1200 cranks but won’t start I hear a noise in the fuel tank & also says it’s low on fuel but I have a full tank.(new battery-starter solenoid relay-spark plugs-)
@ernestl709 may have a bad fuel pickup tube. Switch to reserve and try to start. Certainly the fuel sender is bad but that wont cause a no start. Have you tried putting fuel in a spark plug hole to se if it starts? Could be time to rebuild carbs...big job for that ski because you have to remove the exhaust to get to them.
@@ShadetreeJetski I’ll add some fuel tomorrow to the spark plug hole. For the tube part where do I locate that.?thank you!
@@ShadetreeJetski should I rebuild the fuel sending unit like you did I also noticed that the silver 90 degree tube on top move easily today when I was messing with it.
@@ShadetreeJetski I need info so I added fuel to the spark plug holes and it started what will I need now.?
@@ernestl709 install a primer system or rebuild the carbs. Dont buy cheap kits Mikuni only.
Super easy motors to work on can’t say much about the brain box but I use to work on these 1100s when I was 18 lol removal is super sim😊le
how critical/necessary is that temp sensor in the exhaust? i just noticed my ski is missing one from watching this video
@neppy5 you wont know when your engine overheats.
thank you ! however, I suggest to do and show things in order instead of stop and spend too much time about quality comparison. Americans always tend to say chinese this chinese that, but the fact is it all depends. Nowadays, I can see that somwtimes American products are shitty anyway ... nothing to pround. Look atnAmerican cars then you can tell if they are built with quality or not .. I would never buy one. I buy German or Japanese cars only.
@MyTran-ow2ij Trust me those ebay kits are garbage. Mikuni is a Japanese company and their tolerances for products are far superior to chinese products. Any japanese bearing is far better than a chinese one. No American company makes jet skis anyway. The closest you can get is seadoo and I am not impressed with their stuff. I dont buy american cars either for the same reason. This video was to show how bad chinese kits truly are. You waste time and money buying crap.
I have a tigershark 1994 Daytona jetski and I just put a new starter in and the battery is all charged up but won’t start, it just makes a click sound, the blige bump works and there is no sparking or wires heating up, I think it’s the relay but does anyone know where it’s located?
Inside the black electrical box. It probably is the starter solenoid.
I am reassembling my 900 stx. I have the case together and find the crank takes some effort to spin. It appears to be the seals that are causing the resistance. Is that normal with new seals, or do I not have them seated properly causing them to squeeze on the crank?
@@cthiessen it should be smooth and easy to turn. I always lube the seals with marine grease.
hey Kevin, how does riding the GP1300R compare to the larger XL 800/XTL 1200?
It was scary fast. The gp1200 non powervalve takes off faster, but cannot match the gp1300r for top speed. These bigger skis are like riding a sofa compared to the older smaller skis. I prefer the gp1200 myself.
@@ShadetreeJetski cool!! i was thinking about trading my XLT 800 for a GP, i was originally thinking about a more family friendly ride but most of the time i ride solo lol
Any chance you'll make more videos? I have learned a lot from your channel. Either way thanks for the videos.
Great video with good tips and clear directions, super helpful for me working on my 1996 GTX. How did the Titan upgraded pump perform on the water? I see a lot of people experiencing cavitation with these older GTXs so I am working on replacing everything as well as thinking about trying to reseal my ride plate/ride shoe to make sure there's place for air to cause cavitation. Thanks again, really appreciate these videos!
@JagsterZ7 the titan pum worked fine it just didnt come with any instructions so I had to figure out how to mount it.
Hey I’m looking at a 97 gp1200 and it’s missing on one cylinder no spark. What could it be? He claims it’s the coil.
@@RefinedMayweather it probably is one bad coil or a bad plug end.
Any way to swap these to manual trim?
Nice video. I enjoyed the additional information and troubleshooting 👍
Do you sell a title and a VIN plate
Why would you leave all these seats off in the spark plugs out and engines open to the weather those parts aren't going to be any good when it comes time to use them
@shannonwilliams601 They have a storage facility full of engines they pulled. These they simply dont care about. They will sell anything to you and ship it and they will make it good if your electronic part you bought is bad.
No one works on boats anymore I live in North Carolina I need help
@kimstikeleather679 You need to make sure your spark plug boot doesnt have the end of a plug unscrewed and stuck inside. If it doesnt tighten it by squeezing it shut a bit. The leak...no way for me to know. Put it in the lake with the seat off and watch where water is coming in. Probably from the jet pump area or maybe the exhaust seal.
95 Yamaha wave runner takes on water and I’m not sure where the water would be coming in at I have not gotten to rot in two years or ever even wrote the thing my son Roger it used to race buoys in the ocean so it goes pretty fast but it also has a bilge pump that is not connected so I’m not sure if we connect to Village Park will pump the water out is the question and where is the water come in and out is the other question
My spark plug boot keeps popping off
Man sucks bro ur vid’s we’re very helpful watching 2 for help now, 2002 gp800r
Who do you recommend getting a refurbished motor from? Mechanic just took the jetski in question apart to find that the pistons are totally shot. Looking for a Yamaha gp 800. Been looking around don't want a welded one.
@Meesh-o1c SBT gives a warranty on their engines. PWC engine in NY sells them, but they want rebuildable cores. I have 2 gp800 blocks with bad crankshafts but I have no cylinders.
Hi mate great informative channel have you done a video on checking the stator / generator test in the ski
