    I bought one recently as I have a diesel with throttle lag. The difference is amazing. Yes, you are not actually getting more power, but instead simply more throttle, but I’m telling you from experience. If you have a turbo diesel, the improvement in drivability is amazing.
    The low end lag is gone completely. I just set mine on auto.

    This is a good piece of information for those people wanting to learn more about throttle response. I would like to add some more info on the subject. When talking about electrical adjustments such as a throttle or volume control and speed of response it is referred to as gain. Gain is the rate of response. You can have positive gain and negative gain. Negative gain gives you more control over at system but may reduce the overall output. The throttle controller does not reduce the total output but as stated modifies the lower 50% of throttle travel. While this works well on all in engines it is particularly effective for petrol engines as 70% of air flow through the throttle body is achieved with only 30% of throttle opening. Any negative gain given in the first 30% of throttle movement will give more control over power in this area.

    Finally someone that explains it well. They’re nothing more than a cleaver illusion of more power because you’re getting more throttle than you’re used to for a given input.

      Yes but as stated they have their uses. Eco modes are nice on corrugated roads and responsive throttles can be nice when your driving tracks that require you to slow down for obstacles but want get moving again instead of yielding all momentum.

      If he’s talking about a throttle response controller. Then he hasn’t a clue what he’s talking about. It changes only the response time from pedal to throttle body. If does not change the pedal to throttle body ratio.

    I have a throttle controller installed in a 2010 3l diesel manual Holden Colorado, when driving in traffic I like to have a very responsive throttle so I set mine on setting 9 in race it works fine, when I'm out on the open road I just use Auto setting ,it's all about experimenting with the throttle controller and finding what best suits you.

    I have just installed the IDRIVE throttle controller it definitely makes a difference on the pedal response I used to push the vehicle hard before the IDRIVE installation now it’s not the case so I would say it’s worth the money but if you want more engine power this is not for you doesn’t change much on the torque or kilowatts people need to understand the difference that’s why it’s called a throttle controller

    Hi, Great video! I own a 2023 Pajero Sport, love the vehicle however when pressing down on the accelerator pedal and being a diesel all / most of the power is mid range so there is quite a delay until acheiving power. Would a throttle controller help in this scenario in removing this delay? I’ve found the delay frustrating especially when merging in traffic and going around round-abouts. Hopefully I’ve explained my situation correctly. Looking forward to your thoughts. Cheers!

    I have ordered one for my Infiniti Q50 3.5 GT Skyline hybrid 364 hp. I have been told it will reduce the lag and rev almost instantly. There is currently a bit of lag and won't rev up instantly which is annoying sometimes. They say the lag is to make accelerating more smooth and more controlable. it will be interesting to see how it goes.

    Great Vid. Ta. Gotta ask though... There must be something about the throttle controller that causes the ECU to react differently. If you stab the pedal to the floor there is quite a delay before the engine responds. On U9 the engine responds so quickly. It is almost as though there is more than just a TPS value being sent to the ECU by the pedal. That extra response is a bit addictive. :)

    • @adventurecorp
      @adventurecorp  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its due to the throttle signal being allowed to ramp in faster. Factory settings are similar to an "economy" mode, otherwise people would complain about it being jerky.

    • @DW-10
      @DW-10 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adventurecorp Nice explanation/vid. There are many (unverified) reports online of a reduction in lag off the line. How does a throttle allow the TPS to ramp up quicker? It isn’t replacing a control module so I assume it is only providing an altered signal value to the ECU not providing it quicker. There is very little time difference in depressing a throttle 50% or 70%. Thus an altered signal tricking the ecu into thinking 50% is 70% (or similar) shouldn’t have a material impact on lag. I have a Triton with noticeable lag from a standing start. Simply pushing the throttle to 70% (compared to 50% over the same elapsed time) makes no difference to the lag, just the behaviour post lag. Are the claims of reduced lag false?

  • @MrSnakekaplan
    @MrSnakekaplan ปีที่แล้ว +2

    People use them at about 25% and see a power increase relative to how much they are accelerating, they assume this will continue at 100% throttle.
    Very useful bit of kit but companies indirectly mislead people saying 'unleash the power'. Honestly not worth the effort of explaining and treading on eggshells to avoid lawsuits.

They are more interested in drama because it gets people talking. But that's what happens when a "news" show is actually just an entertainment show in disguise.

    You appear to be talking about some sort of throttle ratio controller ?
    Which I have never heard of and frankly makes no sense
    Or
    Are you talking about a Throttle Response Controller ?
    Which only increases the response time or in other works reduces the lag time, from pedal to throttle body. It does NOT change the ratio of pedal to throttle body. 0=0, 25%=25%, 50%=50% and so forth. If you are “trying” to talk about the latter. Then I suggest you check your facts.
