    Very informative Tony & concise. I hope you'd consider doing a quick run through of how to set up for the custom settings in the main menu.

    Thanks for this. Learned a few things. The AUTO ISO trick I do use, although I prefer assigning it to the right button, keeping film simulations on the left. But the real reason is one more push to the right gets me INTO the settings if I need to change them, and then I can push left to exit, but personally I just gently tap the shutter release and I'm good to go.

    Tony, Have your X Pro-2 e-book and free lighting book. Enjoy them both and quickly available as pdf files in iBooks on all my devices. Good first video on this channel, keep them coming.

    Like the focus zoom with one dial press in playback - just like my D700.

    Having the ability to do raw conversion in camera tells me that shooting raw + fine just wastes storage. Great tip. I assume there are instances where you want to enable wireless, shoot and send quickly as a JPEG.

    Like the AUTO ISO hint, but I find setting it to the right function button more intuitive, as it works like the menus, right to go further, left to back out. Although I usually tap the shutter button to get out. Plus, it leaves the default setting of the film types on the left button. The right button default is White Balance, but I normally use AUTO WB anyway, and a quick tap on the Q menu and I can change this quickly if I need to. But informative video. Also, with the 3.0 firmware, where you lose the ability to change the bracketing settings with the DRIVE button, I program the top button to do this, but hitting PLAY first ALSO allows this to quickly start Wi-Fi. And then I program the front button for DOF preview on all my Fujis, so it functions like my former Nikon cameras.

    Again superb. I am thinking of purchasing the B&W paperback from Amazon.com however, can you inform me how up to date it is - e.g. firmware updates. If that works I might purchase the e versions.

    Tony, My fingers are crossed that you received a X-T2 from Fuji to start on that book! Your books are nothing short of life-saving for a Fuji owner!

      +Devin. I appreciate your comment. The X-T2 book is well underway. Of course, cameras are in short supply with the earthquake impacting sensor availability.

    Hi Tony, hopefully you'll see this comment. I just upgraded from a X-E2 to the X-Pro 2 and the section from 3:50 - 4:28 interests me. I'm wondering, rather than pressing in the front dial to swap between Program Shift and Exposure Compensation modes, if one of those functions can be mapped to the rear dial?

  • @JonasLundtoft
    @JonasLundtoft 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would you happen to also know how to adjust the Aperture settings from the rear command dial when the Aperture is set to Auto on the Xpro2?

    Interesting...my experience with the XP2 is when I'm trying to focus on a flower or something similar....the camera chooses to lock onto something in the background! Like always!!!

    • @robertkorn
      @robertkorn 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      user error. Try changing your AF point, or place the AF point on the flower, AF and then recompose, OR you are too close to the flower and it can't focus on it.

    one really stupid question I have is how do you even get to the IQ mode? When I hit the menu ok button I only have two options, the wrench tool and an arrow. I don't see any of the options you are talking about. Granted Ive had this camera for about ten minutes and no manual.

      It's an excellent camera. I'm currently writing a similar book for the X-T2 if you decide to go that way.

      I just bought the X-PRO2 last week, and have the X-T2 on pre-order. If I wait for your X-T2 book, is it still worth to get the X-PRO2 book as well, or are the two cameras sufficiently similar to just go with the X-T2 book?

    • @TonyPhillipsPhoto
      @TonyPhillipsPhoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +RemekTek Media. There is a lot of similarity in the menu structure. Different features on each camera, and the way you do things varies due to the button/dial differences. If you plan to keep both cameras, perhaps get the Pro2 book now, and see if you want the other later. The PDF linked above is the best value read.

  • @noeggi

    nice one :) why is it that if you shoot RAW on card 1 and JPEG on card 2, you cant zoom in at 100% in playback mode as you described at 6:25?

    • @TonyPhillipsPhoto
      @TonyPhillipsPhoto  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Bruno, There are different zoom levels for RAW vs JPEG - because playback for RAW is from the thumbnail stored with the RAW, and it's just a thumbnail.
      Shoot just a RAW, and just a JPEG, and you'll see this difference in playback.
      Clearly, playback in your suggested scenario uses the RAW thumbnail on Card 1, and not the JPEG on Card 2.
      There's a quirky work-around. Switch to Card 2 for playback.
      I'm not sure what the logic is in doing this. But that's how it works.

    Do I understand that if you leave your settings on Auto aperture, Auto shutter speed and C exposure compensation , you can control just about everything from the viewfinder and front command dial? Is this in EVF?

    • @TonyPhillipsPhoto
      @TonyPhillipsPhoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      + Brian Teddy. Close Brian. You can use the rear command dial for program shift! This works in the EVF, OVF, and LCD.

    Now that we have the Xt2..still make sense to buy X-Pro2?

    • @TonyPhillipsPhoto
      @TonyPhillipsPhoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This probably depends largely on two things. 1. Whether you want to shoot 4K video; and 2, which style of camera you like to work with. A rangefinder style with OVF like the X-Pro2, or an SLR style like the X-T2. Of course, there are many other differences. Image quality is on a par for either camera.

    I use a X-Pro1 and X-Pro2. I loved the previous book on the X100S (because I also have a X100T). So I naturally I bought the black and white book for the X-Pro2, but I love less. So I re-order the book in color. Otherwise, very comprehensive.

    I went to buy your book but they want £118.02 which is compleatly nuts. I would havw hapily paid around £25-30 but there is no way I am going to pay 3118 for any book. And before you ask I won't buy digital books. I want to be able to read it on train, when I am on my boat and in bed. A peper book is in offensive and does not require any power, people sitting around clicking on divises is horrid.

    I just watched a review of Fujifilm X-Pro 2 in (New York City Chinatown )young man and a young woman are doing the presentation.I must say from the woman's point of view I get the impression that it is the worse camera she has ever use . I get that impression a lot of young people today who are used to using A cell phone or one with the latest technology would find faults well most of the Camars for those 20 years ago .It is produced by'The Camera Project ' One man's opinion.
