  • Should you get the latest i7-10750H inside of the Lenovo Legion 5i or go with the new kid on the block the Ryzen 7 4800H inside of the Asus TUF A15. Two very similar laptops in build and aesthetic, but differing in performance. Let’s check it out. ►⏩►⏩ Check specs and pricing in the links below…
    💻 Lenovo Legion 5i GTX 1660 Ti Version ( geni.us/Legion5i-10750H-16gb - Commission Earned )
    💻 Lenovo Legion 5i RTX2060 Version ( geni.us/Legion5i-RTX2060 - Commission Earned )

As always let’s start off with the build quality and usability of these two laptops. Upon pulling each of them out of the box I must say they share the same subtle design aesthetics rare to the flashy gaming laptops we are all used to seeing. The Asus TUF A15 toting the military vibes while the Lenovo Legion 5i has a minimalist look going on.
The A15 does coming with an aluminum top cover and whereas the Legion does not. Otherwise, both have an all-plastic build. Both have easy to open lids that can be performed with one hand, but I will say that the Legion 5i has a little more wobble and screen flex than the A15. So I will give the award for hinge and screen assembly to the A15.
Unfortunately, both screens are disappointing as far as color accuracy is concerned. The A15 can reach a Color Gamut Range: 66% sRGB - 49% Adobe RGB - 49% DCI-P3 and the Legion 5i can reach a Color Gamut Range: 62% sRGB - 46% Adobe RGB - 46% DCI-P3. So for how much hate the A15 was getting a few weeks ago, the Lenovo is actually less color accurate.
    State the ports disclaimer.
    Lenovo Legion Ports:
    USB-A 3.1 Gen 1
    3 x USB-A 3.1 Gen1
    USB-C 3.1 (DisplayPort)
    HDMI 2.0
    RJ45 ethernet
    Mic/headphone combo
    Asus TUF A15 Ports:
    1 x Type A USB 2.0
    1 x Type C USB 3.2 Gen 2
    2 x Type A USB 3.2 Gen 1
    1 x HDMI
    1 x Headphone-out & Audio-in Combo
    1x Ethernet Port
Alright, now that we have worked through the build and usability lets talk about the performance. The Lenovo Legion 5i model I am reviewing comes with:
    CPU: Intel 10th Gen Core i7-10750H (6-Cores 12 Threads)
GPU: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB GDDR6
    RAM: 8GB DDR4 Clocked @ 2933 Mhz (single slot) upgradeable to 16GB
    Storage: 512GB M.2 SSD (Samsung)
The Asus TUF A15 that I am reviewing comes with:
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 4800H (8 Cores 16 Threads)
    GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti 6GB GDDR6
    RAM: 32GB @3200MHz DDR4
    Storage: 512GB SATA SSD
+ 2nd SSD M.2 Slot (to expand the storage capabilities)
Starting off with the CPU and GPU tests:
    Asus TUF A15 --- Geekbench CPU Single Core: 1185 / Multi-Core 8210
    Lenovo Legion 5i --- Geekbench CPU Single Core: 1192 / Multi-Core 4506
The Asus A15 with its massive 32GB of RAM handles Photoshop very well and on nearly every test plus the overall Puget score.
Lenovo Legion 5i --- Puget Photoshop Score: 539
Asus TUF A15 --- Puget Photoshop Score: 759
If considering either of the models for After Effects Rendering the A15 takes the cake here as well. The 8 Core 16 Thread processor from Ryzen really edges out the 6 Core 12 Thread processor.
Lenovo Legion 5i --- Puget After Effects Render: 430
Asus TUF A15 --- Puget After Effects Render: 661
    Now onto video editing!
For this test I took a 9-minute 4k clip placed it into Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve then exported it out of both programs at 4k TH-cam settings and 1080p TH-cam settings:
    Legion 5i - Premiere Pro 4k Export to 4k - 5:13
    TUF A15 - Premiere Pro 4k Export to 4k - 7:02
    Legion 5i - Premiere Pro 4k to 1080p - 4:40
    TUF A15 - Premiere Pro 4k to 1080p - 3:52
    Legion 5i - DaVinci Resolve 4k Export to 4k - 11:07
    TUF A15 - DaVinci Resolve 4k Export to 4k - 6:37
    Legion 5i - DaVinci Resolve 4k Export to 1080p - 4:21
    TUF A15 - DaVinci Resolve 4k Export to 1080p - 2:52
I also ran a rendering test in Premiere Pro:
The Legion 5i can render out 7240 Frames in 5:02 and the A15 can do that same render in 3:37
    Noise Tests:
At idle both laptops ran at around 30 - 35 dBs. During the 4k export and rendering the fan noise jumped up to 52 dB for the Legion 5 while on the charger and it stayed at or below 40 dB while on battery power.
During the 4k export and rendering for the TUF A15 the fan noise reached upwards of 61 dBs.

Ill probably only use it for surfing, typing, and slides/presentations on a classroom, maybe some games thats not demanding during break time, and ill only play demanding games at home. Is it a good pick for school and gaming at home? Too hot/noisy at a classroom? (Ill be getting the ryzen 5 4600h with 1650ti, thanks!)

I just bought the ASUS tuf gaming a15 ryzen 7 variant yesterday and I'm so freaking happy! My variant has 16GB ram, 512GB SSD, Ryzen 7 4800H processor with GTX 1650 TI.

@@DevansClasses Get it bro! I'm saying you wo t regret! I haven't done any hardcore usage as of now... But I've purchased it in a motive of doing intense works ahead..
It has fast charging so it charges quickly as compared to other laptops... I won't say its very fast but yeah it's faster than other chargers in its price range... You're getting an 8 core CPU with base clockspeed of 2.9Ghz whereas in Intel i7 10th Gen you'll get a 6 cores CPU with a base frequency of 2.6Ghz... Ryzen 5 4600H can beat Intel i7 10th Gen.
And you get a 4GB graphics card i.e. NVIDIA GTX 1650 TI which is better than GTX 1650... That's not something major but the TI version works 10-15% better than the ONLY 1650 one.
And the RGB back-lit is superb! That's something sexy... And don't worry about the storage coz you have an additional slot for expanding the SSD by 512GB again. And at 82K price I got inbuilt 16GB ram whereas in Legion 5 i7 10th Gen you only get 8GB ram which is ofcourse expandable but they were charging me 91K for Legion 5 i7 10th... I bought the TUF from Reliance Digital and it costed me Rs82490,the price tag there was Rs86K... I'll suggest you to look after some other dedicated laptops stores and I'm sure you'll get more discounts... But I can't guarantee you that you'll get the same model as mine coz this variant isn't available everywhere.. You will get to see Asus TUF gaming a15 but with different specs... So If you want this particular model then check out at your nearest Reliance Digital store.. So yeah, GO FOR IT!😁

TUF 15 internal features especially its cooling system and fans are terrible. Legion 5 is quiet and has good cooling system

    • @jeffreyokun2355
      @jeffreyokun2355 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Fans are terrible? How so? The cooling solution itself is okay, it's the chassis that is causing issues by having limited air intakes and exhaust. When I compare the noise levels of this laptop with much more expensive laptops, the noise level is comparable to most of them. Also if you disable the turbo on the processor, you actually get one of the quietest gaming laptops on the market in any price range. My fan noise in normal use, watching videos or surfing the net has 24.5dba on the fans and below 40c temps with turbo switched off. That is very quiet. When gaming the fans get to 45-50dba while most laptops in that range ramp up to 50+dba. Disabling the turbo has only marginal impact on gaming performance in the 2060 model so it's definitely worth the job in terms of gaming / fan noise.
As to say if this laptop has a great cooling solution, it definitely does not, it's comparable to most gaming laptops and it's main weakness is the design of intake / exhaust holes in the chassis. However this can be helped with a simple regedit fix to disable the turbo on cpu that will cap the CPU at 2.9ghz on all 8 cores, which is more than enough when combined with the 2060 model.

@@tastefulsinner sorry lol was having to much fun on this laptop and forgot about this comment. So let me say that my first impression was that of *I was in Awe*, this laptop feels and looks so good, it feels so slick and smooth, I got the fortress grey lid with a 90w/hr battery, RTX 2060, Ryzen 7 4800H with 16 GB Ram, 1TB SSD and wow is it fast! I think under normal use I can get between 4-8 hours (I'm trying to start a business and I do a lot of multi tasking and editing and that's normal use for me).
It's super fast, it's faster than both my previous laptops which were a ROG G703 & an acer hellios 300. Dude under this normal use it is super quiet and only ramps up the fan speed (thus the noise gets louder) here and there for like 1-3 seconds (I would assume this is to clear dust and to send extra air across the chasi). I haven't played any hardcore games though but if you do I would recommend downloading Ryzen Controller to undervolt and to keep termpatures down (this will not affect FPS and performance and it will significantly lower how hot your laptop/pc gets).
The sound is good! it's surround sound speakers and they are better than most gaming laptops out there! My laptop has never gotten hot so I love that! but now let's get to the screen portion of this review: Don't listen to the people/youtubers out there who talk shit about this screen, I think the screen is really good! despite it having 20 points less than other 300+ color gamut screens, dude like tf it doesn't even matter! lmao its still damn good! its 144HZ, it is fast, I myself have not experienced ghosting as with some people who say they have, maybe their not looking after their pc right haha.
But yeah everything about it is good and I love it! the screen is good, the performance is good, the sound is good, oh and the mic, as well as the camera, is also pretty good, not 1080p but its still HD so it's good lol, the feel of it is phenomenal! i love just feeling the lid and the chasi! it's only a single RGB pattern so none of those crazy single button RGB lighting but it doesn't matter, the cooling and ventilation is good despite what some people think and say, and the SPECS! definitely the specs it works!
I mean the specs are just as good in real life testing as they are on paper! dude if you get this laptop, you'll be getting a really good bargain I swear! it's way better than pc's that have i7-10 gens, I heard it can even compete and spar with i9's which I wouldn't be surprised since this laptop is hella fast! like I said you'll be getting a really good bargain buying this laptop since you'll be paying around double the price of this laptop just to get the same specs and or hardware! I can tell you now this is my forever laptop

You should hav added the 8gb ram modules to the Lenovo laptop so memory didn’t mask the difference in the 2 machines... also, you spent about 70% of this video screen, keyboard, etc and very little on the performance of the systems. We all know that Adobe has not done anything to optimize their products for the new Ryzen CPU architecture, so thank you for testing Davinci Resolve, witch clearly showed the near 2x benefits of the AMD solution, though you didn’t put the numbers on the screen, you just verbalized them and went on. You could have done this so much better. Step it up.
