    Here's the video breaking down how the reactor works: • I turn Plastics into F...
    Feel free to ask any questions, I'll be reading every comment!
    I believe with the world wide crisis we are facing now, we require a world wide solution. And this is why I believe we need decentralized devices such as this Reactor. Think about it, even if there is just 1 reactor in every community, that will put a huge dent in plastic waste and pollution.
    Due to this, I do not wish to make a singular specialized Reactor, once I master and complete this one, I want to make all different types, of all different scales and sizes.

    Be careful when looking or filming through the mentioned window. There might be microwaves escaping through the window, which can hurt you or damage your camera. You should probably put a screen on the it (like the one on microwave oven doors).

    Hey man. I'm a Final Year Physics student, i've been studying Waste Pyrolysis techniques for a long while now and came across your channel. This is amazing, Microwave technology for waste decomposition is superb technique unlike conventional heating methods. I've finally considered M.A.P(Microwave Assisted Pyrolysis) as a Research and Design Project now thanks to you. New Subscriber joined... Oh by the way, a Good waveguide material to consider ,copper,brass or aluminium, they have good properties

    Any engineers here sugest a waveguide to a microwave horn for better impedence matching?
    Copy pasted from a mucrowave electronics sight.
    "The horn antenna may be considered as an RF transformer or impedance match between the waveguide feeder and free space which has an impedance of 377 ohms. By having a tapered or having a flared end to the waveguide the horn antenna is formed and this enables the impedance to be matched. Although the waveguide will radiate without a horn antenna, this provides a far more efficient match.
    Proper and well designed impedence matching reduces reflected power, standing waves and better transfers energy from an antenna to free space, or in this case transwers the power into the reactor cavity.

    You could use this as a plasma furnace for carbon vapor deposits. Diamonds are really useful and cool. They transmit heat very fast. I was thinking 🤔🤔 diamond soldering point? I need the plasma fumes so anything i make with the heat is a bonus to me. I wonder though would solder wick to a diamond? I got the idea after seeing a 3d printer nozzle that was one.
    All of these ideas came from a computer game lol in the game you could diamond coat a sword using a CVD machine. +2cutting!!😂😂

    What type of load do you expect the bearing to work with? Radial or axial? That bearing is not well supported there

    • @naturejab
      @naturejab  ปีที่แล้ว

      The bearing really won't be under much strain. Most weight is dispersed on the chamber itself

    Quick question I’m trying something Similar but mines is using a flame, but for cooling down the heated gas, what do you use?
    I’m using water but water is really bad with heat regulating Iv thought about anti freeze but it’s like £8.99 per 1L where I’m from and water basicly free what do you use ?

    • @naturejab
      @naturejab  ปีที่แล้ว

      A liebig condenser is best used for flame. Microwaves don't get the vapors super hot so I don't need any special condensers for them.

    hey brother, just found you today on tiktok and came to your tube! i love this concept and im sure after enoguh r&d it. i have a question, and sorry if you've answered it somewhere else. what temperature and pressures are you aiming for inside the reactor?

    • @naturejab
      @naturejab  ปีที่แล้ว

      The temperature is focused purley on the plastic, as microwaves heat the plastic more than the chamber. But we want surface temps of atleast 700 F, or around 400 C, and the pressure ideally should not be below 1 psi or exceed 5 psi

  • @schultheismatthius
    @schultheismatthius ปีที่แล้ว +1

    do you think you could make another video explaining how the reactor works and how the distiller works in a simpler way? like with layman's terms? my dad is a chemist but english isn't his first language and he's kinda skeptical about extracting fuel from plastic, he says it's like making diamonds from coal, possible, but would take huge amounts of energy.

    • @naturejab
      @naturejab  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, I'll make a video breaking down all this later on in the future. For now, my first video is probably the best.

    • @Conman2541
      @Conman2541 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does take an immense amount of energy to produce this fuel (he has to power the magnetrons and turn the auger blades AND distill it, distillation being probs the most energy intensive/low yield part). That's a problem that could only really be solved by scale (impossible with just one dude and Big Oil not needing to raid landfills for fuel. Essentially he's taking energy from the local power grid (which probs gets it from fossil fuel power plants) and using it to de-process petroleum products. If prices at the pump get higher and his power bill doesn't, then this might have *some* kind of efficiency

    • @naturejab
      @naturejab  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Conman2541 Well, I distill it with the gaseous product produced so that is a no extra energy put in.

    Is there a reason why the hopper/input isn't closer to the edge of the drum?

    • @naturejab
      @naturejab  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, so any material doesn't get trapped behind the blade flange. I made an engineering mistake with the blades, causing the very beginning of the auger / spiral to be cut off from the rest of the blades when I mounted the shaft flange.
