Whether due to planning or the ability to capitalize on fortunate situations, Palpatine was able to severally damage Anakin's trust in all around him during the course of the Clone War. Obi-Wan faking his death, Padme having to reignite a relationship then rapidly getting in over her head twice, the Jedi Council discarding Ahsoka, Ahsoka leaving him and the order behind, its little wonder Palpatine was one of the few pillars left to him. Tragically I think Palpatine understood something Padme and Obi-Wan failed to, Anakin was extremely guarded and struggled greatly trusting people especially if there was ever any past doubts. Im sure they had hoped to mend things once the war was over but it was far too late and with his trust already damaged all it took was the slightest mistake to shatter it completely.

Not really. Palpatine knew Padme very well - they were from same planet and same social circles. I believe he selected her as a perfect tool. Young, ambitious, no real life experience yet convinced she was right. Sort of like Greta Thunberg in our world. Perfect tool to turn Anakin to dark side, and then be discarded.

As someone who has had outbursts of violent rage, I think the writers of Anakin's character are short on one thing. Not enough about the fire that builds inside before exploding and typically with more nonsense, as Anakin is definitely insane when he chokes padme, he doesn't sound insane, he sounds angry. Though they are similar I think violent rage is different than anger.

  • @collegebro85

Don’t forget the first thing Vader says when he emerges in his suit is where Padme was and if she were safe. He was not so far gone that he ever stopped loving her or despised what she had attempted to do. His rage did indeed overcome him to choke out the only person left that he truly loved, but he never wanted her dead. It’s like a parent that strikes their child out of anger and immediately regrets it (some more than others) because love always overcomes hate.
Then again, Palp’s used this to siphon her life in order to keep Vader alive, thus he wasn’t wrong when he said “in your anger, it seems you killed her.” All that time he tried avoiding the very thing he brought upon himself…

I have always hated the “died of a broken heart” I feel like it would have been so much more tragic if he’d force choked and threw her which caused her to go into labor. So during the fight she’s giving birth on the floor of the ship alone and dies from complications from that. Imagine the fight between obi-wan and Vader with cuts of Padme giving birth to Luke and Leia. I also wish Padme had been a driving force of the opposition against Palpatine. I like the idea of Padme essentially laying the groundwork of what would become the rebellion.

The irony of Palpatine killing four Masters was that there would've been vacancies for Anakin to progress to Master rank, as well as join the council. This would've allowed him to study if the Jedi had a method of saving Padme's life. The alternative was to find someone skilled in force healing and have them ready to save Padme's life.
Anakin face on finding out that the Jedi didn't have a method of saving Padme's life, hidden in the vaults; that he'd lost Padme by his own hand in an act of irrationality.

I dont think padme died of a broken heart necessarily. I helieve she died because Anakin in a way did actually kill her by reaching out through the force to padme who became for sensitive. Since she had two growing children that were force sensitive and there was not only an exchange between blood being in the womb, but the midichlorine counts of both children combined. I believe she formed a type of force based neural link with Anakin. Exchanging emotions, and even to a degree physical pain. She felt and understood anakin's pain on a very deep level at that point. Feeling what he kept bottled up for so many years in the order as well as him on the brink of death on the operating table. I believe once she felt the pain of child birth as well as somewhat of what Anakin felt is what killed her. She or Anakin may have done this accidentally, or she might have used this to save Anakin's life by taking a slither of the burden his physical or psychological pain had on him. I believe when Padme says that their is still good or hope in Anakin before she dies also has a deeper meaning. As she was able to see his dreams and premonitions through this point and was able to see further ahead to Anakin's redemption. By inadvertently using the midichlorines of the Two Children but mostly Leia. Which is why Leia does not quite have the same force potential as luke. Since it cut her off from the force from birth only leading her to manifest her abilities decades after Luke.

I subscribe to the theory that Palpatine killed Padme through the Force. He used Sith magic on the necklace Anakin had given her in TPM, and then used it to drain the Force from Padme as she was weakened from her attack and labor, and channeled that Force energy into Vader so that he would survive his transformative surgeries. This explanation lines up perfectly with the scene in ROTS at Padme's funeral where the camera focuses in on that necklace in her dead hands.

There is something inherent in sentient nature and power. Power tends to pull on the strings of our fear. This is why it is a popular, if not factual, notion that it corrupts. The deeper one craves power and feels they've gained it the more friends and loved ones can be painted as villains who want to take that power either out of jealousy or fear themselves.

Anakin actually did not deserve to be a master..Which is why Palpatine pushed for it through an executive order..Since he knew it would get rejected and sour his relationship with the council.
As Anakin was extremely young, not balanced emotionally, and had not trained any Padawan to knighthood, you see this all throughout the movies, especially during the Clone Wars show. Where he killed through emotion and allowed his emotions to overtake his rational thoughts time and time again.

    • @tandavawalsh0777
      @tandavawalsh0777 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The problems with this point of view were that A) skill/power wise in the force Anakin was many masters superior B) the council regularly relied on Anakin and his abilities to solve and resolve issues in the war for them C) The council would regularly hold less naturally gifted Jedi to a less high standard of excellence in the ways that you mentioned basically because 'they were doing their best', which was also true of Anakin, BUT they werent a threat as a result of their power to the whole Order and Republic and Galaxy, the way that Anakin was...
Ultimately it was reasonable for them to hold him to a higher standard out of caution, BUT, it was hypocritical and unfair and kept him from having access to the archives.... And they also lied to him..... alot.
They(The Jedi council) were doing their best, as was Anakin. Both of their standpoints and points of view are both totally right, and totally justified.
Which is what makes the masterwork of Sidious so absolutely incomparably genius and visionary....

For which Anakin was not, as he literally killed multiple, defenseless beings, and acted out of aggression long before the moment came when he was promoted by Palpatine.
Do you think the Jedi weren't able to sense this, and the darkside in him? Of course they did.. They saw his inability to control his emotions the first time they met him. 🙄

It was the Jedi Order's fault for not letting Anakin have someone to love and care for. They denied him as a boy when he was brought forth by Qui-Gonn whom he lost as a father figure. Tehy shamed him for admitting to love and miss his mother, he couldn't be open about his marriage with and thought he lost everything, including his children. It was only through the love and faith of his son Luke that he was able to find the strength to keep those he loved from dying.

Honestly, this makes Anakin into a bigger idiot than I thought. Once Palpatine revealed himself as Darth Sidious, Anakin for some reason is incapable of figuring out that:
    A) this man has tried to kill Padme for years, B) has no intention of helping Anakin try to save her, and C) is tricking him into killing her by his own hand.
Also, if Anakin had bothered to read Padme's thoughts, he would've known that she didn't know that Obi-wan was hiding in her ship. It sucks that Anakin had to learn the hard way that HE is the cause of Padme dying in childbirth.

Anakin never told Palpatine any of those things and yet, Palpatine already knew what's in his mind. Palpatine would've never gotten this far in turning Anakin to the dark side if he hadn't read him like a book.
Once his Sith identity is revealed, it should be very clear to Anakin that Palpatine is working with the Separatists which makes him complicit in their assassination attempts against Padme.

That still doesn't explain how Palpatine knew about Anakin and Padme's marriage, Luke, nor the visions because Anakin didn't tell him any of that. You saw how Anakin reacted the moment Palpatine said, "Learn to know the dark side of the force and you will be able to save your wife from certain death". The way Anakin said, "What did you say?" was his way of saying "how the hell do you know I have wife and my visions?" You'd have to be a psychic to know what the other person is thinking.
Even the Jedi knew about Anakin and Padme's relationship, hence why Obi-wan went to Padme's apartment looking for Anakin and why Yoda had foreseen himself saying "there is another Skywalker" in the clone wars cartoon.
Also, Padme was secretly forming a rebel alliance with Bail Organa and Mon Mothma in an attempt to force Palpatine to relinquish his emergncy powers and to step down form his position of Supreme Chancellor since his term had already expired. Palpatine's confession alone is proof enough that he orchestrated the clone wars and commanded the separatists which makes him responsible for the death threats against Padme.

Also, Anakin isnt exactly a hard read, nor does he ever even try to be. FFS Padme and Palps are from the same home planet ffs, and what does her being involved in the early formation of the rebellion have to do with ish?? As you said, so was Bail Organa. Palps didnt need her dead for any reason but to pull Anakin to the dark side, not that he minded her dying, but Im still not even sure now that he had anything to do specifically or directly with the assassination attempts. Even if he did, it doesnt mean he did it to get at Anakin, or that hes necessarily responsible for orchestrating tcw. Obviously he was, but none of that is immediately obvious by any means. Furthermore, something Anakin would know and feel strongly first hand.... The republic and the jedi order needed to die. They were corrupt and hypocritical, and sidious didnt cause the issues that led to tcw, he just brought them to light. Even if Sidious was gone and Anakin killed him, he wasnt the underlying issues with the Jedi order, or the republic.
The force brought about all of this to wash away the arrogance and debauchery of having too much, being too well off, and being ruined and spoiled by it and your complacence.
Your just filling in stuff as you see fit. and, sort of, a little bit, but really no... not at all

He had to know he got played as soon as he turned, and Palpatine told him he actually didn't know how to save people from dying lol.

Do you guys believe Anakin deserves forgiveness?

For what? All he did was slay a buncha soldiers and criminals and traitors and extremists. And he gave up having any quality of life for his whole life to do it.
Who but Anakin deserves forgiveness for anything?
Even the kids he cut down were treasonous brainwashed religious extremist cultists. Sometimes ya gotta execute people. It isnt a good time, but the jedi did had to go. It was the will of the force.
Long live the gospel of Traya. Death to the meddling vainglorious manipulations of the force and its selfish sadistic playing games with our lives bullshit!
May Anakin lead the way 😛

In old canon? Yeah, he killed Palpatine on the second death star forever and Palpatine never came back. He also saved his son and the galaxy from the oppression of the Sith. In disney canon? In disney canon, his story doesn't make sense anymore.

I think it’s important to note that Anakin was jealous and thought Obi-Won and Padme had feelings for each other. This made him immediately think that Padme intentionally brought Obi-Won with her, and for what other purpose than to kill him

Obi-Wan played right into Palpatines hands. He failed Anakin in every way he possibly could.
