Before the jedi genocided them all, the original Sith race were reliant on the dark side to even exist.
The dark side represents chaos and the light is order, without order chaos becomes destruction, without chaos, order becomes stagnant.

Let's be honest - Rule of Two started failing once Sith Lords no longer felt like adhering to it's strict rules. Not only Plageuis killed his master in cowardly manner, but Palpatine started with taking apprentince before his own masters death, and then made a habit of taking temporary apprentince, without eventual succession in mind. This game of switching was what costed him his life on board of second Death Star. And then Krayt decided to be a moron and did exact same thing but on greater scale + trying to win a Skywalker to his side. Oh yeah, also getting a parasite armour that Darth Bane fought for good part of his life to get off himself - minus protective helmet that Bane had. BRILLIANT. It's a miracle did guy did not burn his brain out doing all those fancy lightsaber poses for the comic covers with that level of intelect.

Didn't the remaining Rule of One Sith go undercover and hide amongst the general population? History shows that it doesn't really take more than one Sith (living or dead) to restart things. For example, in Tales of Jedi, the Sith as an order were largely gone at first. The King and Queen of Onderon were acolytes of the Force Ghost of their ancestor Freedon Nadd. Nadd's ghost continued to guide his descendants, but he eventually allied himself to Satal and Aleema Keto, young royals from the Empress Teta system. They went on to form the Dark Side cult known as the the Krath. But it was Exar Kun, a disaffected and ambitious young Jedi, that Nadd turned into a true Sith Lord from beyond the grave. This was serious enough that the ghost of Marka Ragnos appeared and anointed Kun as the Dark Lord, with fallen Jedi Ulic Qel-Droma as his apprentice in an ancient prototype of the Rule of Two. So a prior Sith Lord need not even be alive to resurrect the Sith Order - albeit often in different forms.

I think the Genius of Vitate's power base is extremely underated. How do you rule an order of vicious killers? You make clones and rule from the shadows, making an untouchable and semi omni-present ruler. A dark council of lesser lords to openly oppose and aspire to be, who control various sections of your empire. And then various "sith lords" who operate withing their own right and the apprentices beneath them. As well as fresh fodder from aspirants on korriban and sith teachers. The sith work well when loosely mirroring the jedi order it seems. It also stands to reason that many people associate darkness with chaos and disorder, fear and rage as unhinged emotions that cannot be honed and contolled, the narrow view of the jedi. You can apply order to darkness.

Sith are not the sole representative of the Dark side nor are the Jedi the sole representative of the Lightside. Their like countless of Dark siders and Dark side orders, even during the age of the Clone Wars when the Sith was considered extinct they really didn't do anything about the Nightsisters.
Sith seams to have a trend of thinking they should be the only force users. Both Legend and New Canon the Sith had conflict with the nightsister. On thing that was over look during the final Sith War the Sith not only declared war on the Jedi and the imperial knight but various force order as well unless they join them.
Also no other Dark Sider order has so much history of genocide and blowing up planets. Sith tend to bring more imbalance then other Darkside user and orders combine.

Thanks for doing this! Disney SW is whatever, but I really miss Legacy, and some of the other, older content. As for Krayt, I think he mostly just suffered from a case of "work of fiction means villain will always author their own defeat, so Good can win, and story is fun". I think he easily could have withdrawn into the shadows,, ala Plagueis, and maybe let his Hands, like Talon and Nihl, "take over", and appear as in charge, but I think that the appearance of his own diminishment, in allowing that, and not remaining the VISIBLE godlike figure of the cause, would have ruined that cause, and his eventual return would then be met with people who doubted his divine right to rule. This happens in Stargate, too. When the Gao'uld decided to purport themselves as deities, it demanded a certain amount of their presence; of ignorant people SEEING their miracles, which could be described as divine. To see them as everlasting, and immune to harm, thanks to their long lives, sarcophagi, and ribbon devices/Kara Keshia. Maybe after centuries, even millennia, it gad become so ingrained in the sheeple that they just accepted "God is real, and His power is absolute", like some real people do today, but there had to be a long window of time where they had to build that up, and Krayt needed to, too. Enough other mighty Sith, and their empires, gad fallen, and enough people had sone grasp on what these powers were; their limits, and that they were not heavensent, that to set himself up as some greater than mortal, messianic figure, would take ages, and Krayt didn't want to wait. Unfounded opinion ends here!😁

If you 📚 the Dark Empire Comics when Luke Skywalker clashed with the Reborn Emperor Palpatine. He mentioned that he saw what his father saw, that the Dark side was ultimately doomed to fail. Kaan and the Brotherhood of Darkness was doomed to fail for having everyone equal in the Brotherhood. Darth Bane reinvented the Sith with the rule of two. Although the line of succession would be more powerful than the predecessor, having only two left the sith vulnerable to being extinguished easily and the rule of two was corrupted by the last remaining pair from Tenebrous to Sidious. Finally, Darth Krayt, created the one sith while searching for essence transfer, but there was no successor to surpass him in the Dark side of the force. The Dark side was ultimately doomed to fail.

One of the reasons the Sith continued to exist was because of the short comings of the Jedi Order. Luke helped fix that when he reestablished the order. There will always be a chance that the Sith return as long as those who wield the force are susceptible to the dark side emotions.
Also the galaxy/universe is large, there could be Sith out there that nobody has ever encountered.

This was a problem for Legends as well as Disney canon. The Dark Side will always manifest itself but the Sith are unique in the fact that they always return when the Jedi fall away. By having the Sith return again and again, narratively it shows that the Jedi fail to learn the lesson the Force is trying to teach them.

The constant pursuit of power can never be satisfied and never be sustained. Bane managed to delay this collapse with the Rule of Two, but even that failed in the end. It is the Jedi, with their focus on peace and the preservation of life that can sustain themselves. This even extends metaphorically, since it is only through the light side that one can maintain their consciousness after death

He just needed some tweaks to his plane. And he did technically rule the known Galaxy. There is also a reason why the ancient Sith lasted longer than the thousand years of the Rule of Two. Based on the information you gave me here and my own limited knowledge of line of the Sith as a whole, including Darth Krayt, I'd have to say that Darth Krayt is responsible for the last fall of the Sith. But as I said in the beginning, I have limited knowledge about the subject. I'm sure that there are more underlying factors here.

The rule of one was basically "this guy is the god of this religion, worship him and don't fail him ever", which is basically instituting someone like Stanlin in power not caring how it falls apart when he dies since the very system states he is irreplaceable, when it should have been something like "this is your king, there may be more exceptional kings before or after but none who can challenge him in his time", so obviously his rule of one was doomed since he set himself to fail by overestimating himself and not leaving any place for contingencies or any system for establishing a new "one". I'd personally assume a rule of one would work by Sith standards if the one was either a war hero or a puppet..

At 4:44 you cite "...the spirits and holocron guardians of the ancient sith." Basically without being called Force Ghosts, that's what they were; they were able to speak and advise the Sith of any era after their death, of options to take.
Why doesn't Sidious participate in their advice? The older Sith lords didn't approve of Sidious so you have a faction now and he could've given them what he, or his master (who also is mute on advice) on essence transfer?

If u think about it just a second, being DEVOTED to whatever, is the absolutely unsithest state of mind at all. That would mean to find pleasure in weakness rather in power. If there is nothing other to gain (like more knowledge) a sith has no reason to remain devoted. It would basicly mean giving up, like vader once he was convinced to b unable of ever replacing his master.
It is the mindset of a slave - literally the opposite of the sith code.
To welcome death with open arms, therefore really is heracy no matter in which era.

  • @matt_9112
    @matt_9112 ปีที่แล้ว

If Krayt dies, nothing worse happens than what happened to the ancient Sith after the deaths of Pall or Sadow (even Marka Ragnos on a smaller scale), or later Vitiate. A ragtag group of Sith fighting for dominance until the next Dark Lord appears and a period of peace for the rest of the galaxy.
Still a better chance for the order as such to survive, than the exact TWO Bane's rule would dictate.

Idk where your getting the idea that maul was explicitly a sith assassin. He was sidious’s first intended apprentice and also attempted to carry on the rule with his brother. If anything he was more faithful to the code than dooku, and sidious never intended for dooku to truly be his apprentice like he did with maul and anakin. He stole maul from Talzin being the only natural force sensitive male, maul was valuable. It wasn’t until after he had trained maul from childhood that he found anakin and used dooku as a tool to get to him.
Maul was more of a sith than dooku, you can’t change my mind. Because sidious didn’t make dooku his apprentice with the intention of dooku succeeding him.
However with maul this was the case, until sidious met anakin. Who truly took mauls place. Not to mention dooku was just a PLACE HOLDER for maul who killed dookus apprentice. Making dooku and easy target to convert.
Dooku was a stepping stone for sidious. Maul and anakin were intended to be genuine successors.

When Palpatine died in legends, so did the legacy of the Sith. While other Sith Lords came to prominence like Lumiya, Darth Caedus and Darth Krayt, they were still far from the Sith Palpatine was, despite being powerful and infamous in their own right. But Palpatine represented what the Sith were all about. In fact, it greatly shows the Dark Side greatly falling into decline and the Jedi ending up winning yet again. While Krayt, Lumiya and Caedus were powerful and successful in their own rights, they still fell short of doing what Palpatine did what many other Sith failed to do, destroy the Jedi. After Krayt’s death, it was truly the final nail in the coffin for the eventual extinction of the Sith Order. The Jedi won.

The sith didn't really go extinct after Krayt. They scattered, fell to terrorism. Honestly it's a great jumping off point for table top RPGs. Hunting down wayward sith remnantd only to find a nee lord on the rise.
I think a follower of Krayt would rediscover the rule of two and overcome their indoctrination perhaps even facing and overcoming Krayt's spirit.
