Another flaw with your reel "shoot out" you don't have both reels set up the same. You said the dial on the left side of the Daiwa was set to 7 and the dial on the Shimano was set to 5. Since you did not show the fall rate of the lure from the tip of the rod to the ground for both the Shimano and the Diawa in your video, no one can be sure how much tension you had on the right side of the reels. So I’m just curious here which I’m sure I won’t get a response but with your “standardized” testing how do you feel your break settings are any bit equal. Ya got two different breaking systems and why not try casting harder until breaks prove not to be able to handle the spool. You just set two reels up however u feel fair. Can’t even talk about your standard casting power and speed.
Hahaha great video, thanks for that, put a smile on my face! By the way I think both the Curado 70 and fanboy fave get pretty good distances with this not really aerodynamic 1/8oz lure. I can't cast over 90ft with fully blown BFS reels (have both shimano and Daiwa) and don't get past 65ft with a Chronarch CI4+. So the fanboys don't have much to cry about imo.
They sale BFS 50 size spools for 12.00 easy switch out if you want to flip/pitch with either of these reels . The problem with the Daiwas is there is some slop clacking noise transfered to the handle leading people to initially think there's a problem with the handle knobs. The main shaft is the problem with a little play causing a clacking noise that I hear and feel and will not ever purchase another one untill Daiwa gets this resolved.
To the youtuber -------------------------- The cast distance is affected by many factor , thumb action on spool, the wind factor , how efficient/hard you throw the cast , this is not proper way to test that, the result you show maybe bias, i dont know that, but judging from all comparison video you produce,i bet you shimano fanboy, bro get a machine to do the job, run them in closed place then see the result ,then the result is fair and , To the fanboy of any product ---------------------------------------------- it doesnt matter what brand you use,no brand are superior to each other, does't mean the cast distance is long that mean good , no no,the manufacture doesnt spend ton of dollar just to make a reel with long cast distance only, foundation of good reel is affected by many factor, rigidity, geographic factor, targated species, target audience and many more, and finaly dont insult other brand just because you have bad experience with the product, think of it as learning and it may not suit for you, remember that my friend
The important thing is that you take these reels and fish them in saltwater for 2 years and tear them down and you will see more corrosion on the Curado jswhich is far more important than a few feet of casting distance
Let’s see here! Your using a bass reels to throw a trout bait on 6 lb test. Not a bass fisherman that I know of does that. Let’s start using the reel for what it was designed for, bass fishing! Load the reels up with 20 to 30 lb braid. Attach a 10ft floro leader. Attach a 1/2 jig and see how the reel works pitching, skipping and dragging said jig! ON the water, not on the lawn! It makes a difference. I have both reels. Both are decent reels at the price point. The Daiwa will have more control on most every application. The Shimano May cast further in certain situations. Like with a dry reel on the law. Once a bass fisherman drops to 6 or even 8 lb test we switch to a spinning reel. It will far outcast the conventional style reel.
Lets see here! "control" is just another word for "slower spool speed". Ive caught my PB large mouth on a lure not much bigger than this. As far as YOUR definition of what these reels should be used for is irrelevant. You can create a video about that on YOUR channel. I do what I want on MY channel. Are we clear junior? Good.
THE REEL TEST Your funny! I’m 60 yrs old and a tournament fisherman and guide. Just start making videos that are based on the water not on a lawn. Lots of Pros use Diawa, Shimano, Lews etc. I’m sure they would disagree with your. Your personal best caught on a trout lure is without merit.
So predictable with the listing of your "experience"... as if that is supposed to mean something to me? Im sure alot of "pros" will do whatever a company pays them to do and say. So once again, I do what I want on MY channel and your opinion on how I should do things is irrelevant. Junior
I own diawas and shimanos. Hands down, shimano is the superior reel manufacturer. Diawa makes great stuff. Spent alot of my hard earned money on diawa stuff. But shimanos are just bullet proof and have proven time and time again they are the bar for all other reel manufacturers.
Tatula all the way. I've got 2 of them both on Fenwick rods. It casts great easy to flip worms great reel. The Ugly Stick elite rod is junk. Guides are cheap .
Anyone who is under the impression that the Tatula SV is even kind of a finesse reel doesn’t know the first thing about what makes a reel suitable for lighter baits. I own a ton or the Tatula SVs and characterizing them as a direct competitor to the Curado 70 is silly.
Kung Pow you need to try using some brain cells. The SV has a smaller, lighter spool that holds less line than the CT Type R. Whats the point of that? Same with the Curado 70 spool vs the Curado K spool. Plus they are both $199. Also this is directly from Daiwa's website "TATULA SV TW's SV SPOOL is made of Super Duralumin which is lighter but has great strength. SV SPOOL with Air Brake System helps cast LIGHTWEIGHT lures with ease to give you a LONGER cast with no back lash."
@@THEREELTEST reading comprehension and context not your strong suit I see. The SV spool is only very slightly shallower than the CT. Compared to the spool on something like the SV105 or SS SV103 the spool on the Tatula SV holds a ton of line. The SV spool is light because that's how the Air Rotor works and the SV spool is all about backlash prevention. The ability to cast slightly lighter lures is a side benefit and for most of the US market, 1/4 oz is a really light bait for a baitcaster. If you look at the specs of the reels you mention, the SV holds 10yds less 14# line than the Curado 200,10 yds more line than the Curado 150 DC and 30 more than the Curado 70. By your logic, the Curado DC must be a finesse reel as well because the spool is shallower than the 200. But that isn't the case, so why is the spool smaller? Probably because the feature that makes it different from the 200 takes up some space and needs a smaller spool. Guess what! Same is true with the Tatula SV. So I'll say again, you're comparing two totally different reels built for different applications and acting like it's a huge deal that one casts a super light bait further when the "loser" wasn't even built with that in mind. Oh but they're priced the same, so...
So I guess you mad! lol.. the Air Rotor has nothing to do with making the spool light. Daiwa makes SV spools light (with higher grade aluminum) to help in the casting of light lures. You wont find a heavy SV spool out there. The Air Rotor is the reason the SV is overbraked. Light spool plus alot of brake equal good light lure capabilities. Do you understand junior? And the SV spool actually has very similiar line capacity as the 70. Ive spool line directly from one to the other. The SV holds probably less than 10 yards more than the 70. Your stupid example of the Curado DC and the fact that you just make up shit in your mind when Daiwa clearly stated on their website what the Tatula SV is for just shows you are just another butthurt jackass who is trying to look smart on the internet.
Why would I be mad about you not actually reading, or at least understanding what I wrote, and acting like a fool as a result. I find it hilarious actually. As far as your "test" goes, I really don't care. A lot more to a reel than casting distance with a lure below its target weight range. I could go into a lot more detail about the flaws in your logic and assumptions, but I would be wasting my time because you've convinced yourself that you know it all. I don't want to shatter your little fantasy world where you're the smartest guy in the room.
I understood all the crap that spewed from your mouth and refuted it all with facts straight from Daiwa. You just keep responding with nonsense trying to convince people you know better about a reel than the people who made it lol... Thats why you are some jackass who calls himself "Kung Pow" watching my videos instead of making videos. And your definition of whats important in a reel is irrelevant just like your life lol. Thanks for the views though as I know you will keep watching ;)
Here's the thing I have 6 tatulas 2 of which are sv's and 4 cts type R's they don't compare not only that but they just don't feel as smooth and the make nasty noises when they cast. this isn't just 1 it's all of them.
I have 20 pound suffix 830 to advance super line on my Diawa sv Same reel you have in the video will that affect how far my Luer cast Because I’m ready to take it back for Shimano I love the Shimano reels Used to watch this guy had a show called hunt for the big fish like 13years ago And he swore by Shimano
I agree. He used 6 pound line and a 1/8 oz. stick bait (of all things) to use for a casting test. He should be using a spinning rod and reel for such light line and lures. I guess he likes fishing for minnows with that set up.
The point is that is one of the hardest things for a baitcaster to get distance on and shows its true quality as a caster when you can use an 1/8ounce lure and get some distance, also shimano always wins!😂 always has and always will be btw I own both brands
Dude you should use the reel for what its made for. Thats why when u want to buy reels, they ask you what u want to use it for? No reels can perform 100% on all aspects. Cheers.
Boy! This is the problem I am having right now, using the same exact lure and bird net like crazy. I have no problem casting lures that 1/4 or above. BTW, I am using Shimano Curado 201K. I will take your advice by changing M rod to UL rod for this type of weightless lure. I like the baby crying moment (I have 2 infants myself... hihi)
Say what you will, but the curado is more expensive and it’s heavier. As a non-tournament fisherman the extra few feet aren’t worth the price difference to me, plus most of the fishing I do is closer to the bank or whatever I’m casting towards than 70 feet🤷♂️
Wow how ignorant did you just sound? The Curado 70 is the same price as the Tatula SV at $199 and it weighs alot less than the Tatula SV as well. How about actually having some experience with the reels before you comment on them. Also everybody fishes different than you so how YOU fish is irrelevant.
I like the Tatula myself but I don't think it's " the best" by any means. The nicest reel I own is my T3. I'd never pay that much for a reel but I got it as a birthday present. I find casting distance way over rated anyway since it's easy to move my boat a few feet closer. Nice video!
the Tatula holds more line. As far as backlashes, the Tatula SV has a overpowering braking profile in my opinion so yes it helps with overruns, but if you have the magforce too low it will blow up on you like any other reel
Hey REEL TEST Jake orr is always crying about you on tackle avisors channel! talking trash because hes mad! I wanted to let you know. I was gonna add to his comment but he took it down. Hes probably over there talking trash about you right now
Eh Im not surprised at all and Im not worried about it. I havent been on Tackle Advisors channel in months but yet I know he monitors my videos and comments section very closely lol.
If distance is all that someone wants out of their reel why isn't everyone using Abu Garcia 6500's? They are The King when it comes to distance casting. Peace
the SV system is more for castability than farthest cast possible anyways......use a reel for you needs instead of what you want to use is the best way too go instead of fighting against its intended use
badzr2 this is straight from Daiwas website "TATULA SV TW's SV SPOOL is made of Super Duralumin which is lighter but has great strength. SV SPOOL with Air Brake System helps cast lightweight lures with ease to give you a longer cast with no back lash."
@@THEREELTEST Anybody that complains about a Tatula Sv Tw not winning a distance casting contest should look at why they buy a certain reel in the first place. The Tatula SV is marketed as a skipping reel which it does very well at and is well known for having heavy brakes. Dont try to make a reel what it's not meant to be and there are many different reasons to buy a reel than full distance casting capabilities. I enjoy your videos and watch all of them usually but I hardly ever fish where I need maximum casting distance but I'm sure others do but that doesn't stop me from enjoying your content. Keep up the good work.
badzr2 well if you read the comments of the original video people actually got mad when the SV and the SS Air lost. Coincidentally both have spools with Air brakes
I am a shimano fan and I know the same thing, though, the tatula reels weirdly has some unbeatable control. And I don't know if I could say that shimano reels are more durable than tataulas. In my opinion you get equally good reels but in different ways if you buy one or the other.
Am I the only person who is capable of owning and loving both Shimano and Daiwa? You do realize that being a fan of any company blindly is not only pointless but kind of stupid. You are clearly a "Shiman-ho" and a giddy fan girl! Both companies make quality products, and in many cases the best choice is a matter of personal comfort - which reel fits your hand and casting technique best. I really do enjoy both company's products. I have a Shimano exsence 3000hgm spinning reel and a Daiwa tatula lt 3000 cxh and I love them both! I own around 5 Daiwa spinning reels and 3 Shimano spinning reels. I have a tatula sv tw casting reel and a Shimano slx, I also picked up an okuma citrix 254 on sale for under 70 bucks which is incredibly solid but a bit heavy. You produce excellent review videos and deliver unparalleled and much needed information for the fishing community. However, I really think you would be surprised how much having a "dog in the fight" can influence the outcome of a test without being aware of that infuence. I would love to see you team up with a Daiwa fan boy/corporate shill, and do some "swap sides halfway test" or some sort of double blind testing.
It doesn’t really matter what reel cast farther. It’s based on what your preference is not only that it’s based on what the mechanisms are made out of. So Shimano has plastic mechanism parts Daiwa plastic parts or titanium or whatever it may be made of Vice a versa ,in the long run it’s what reel is going to last the longest for your buck. I think if you do a review on how many cast putting it to real test using the reel on a day to basis Play abusing the real and putting it to its maximum tests then you’ll get a real result
doesnt surprise me. i bought into the horseshit and picked up a JDM zillion SVTW, and it was the biggest hunk of of shit i have ever purchased . gave it a solid month of use, then sold it and threw my lews tor pro G back on until my scorpion was delivered. im sure daiwa has some decent stuff, but im not a fan. felt chunky, clunky and heavy... only upside i see to daiwa is the huge amount of aftermarket parts available for them. sorry fanboys, the shimano stuff is just better IMO. always hated shimano bike gear in favor of SRAM, but dammit, they know how to make good fishing gear.
I would have thought a 7 ft rod would get you more distance, that's the usual theory but like you say it was a better quality rod with better action in the tip. The only thing i was noticing with the Curado was every cast you kept going down in distance. My problem with the Curado 70 was when i put boca bearings in, it was over spinning too fast on really light lures with all brakes on full.
lol, it's not even a fair comparison, tatula sv is good for skipping cast not to throw a long cast. I have a tatula ct typer r, but I m not a fan boy from daiwa, I would prefer to buy a shimano instead, but in my country they do not have a similar price, shimano's products are way more expensive. Other fact is, Brisa lite from marine sports coast 1/4 to 1/3 of a curado - tatula, and it throw a longer cast. Other important thing is you have to train a little more to cast. A good fisherman use all the control almost at zero, brakes and the refine ajustment .. so I do not consider the other video a good one.
Daiwa recommends for the SV to set the spool tension to where there is just a small bit of side movement on the spool and just use the external mag dial for any adjustments
Oh man,I've been wanting them to for years!!!!! Thatd be a must buy,$200 is usually my limit on reels so I haven't used any high end reels but out of everything under $200 Its my favorite to use but I dont think I would choose it if I could only have one.

So the fanboys don't have much to cry about imo.
yeah these tiny lures arent going to travel very far, people need to keep that in mind
Keep doing what you doing, ppl gonna hate no matter what, after your first vid, I went out and bought 2 70's. Thanx for your help!!!
thanks brother! these kids are gonna learn today.. its not their world!
Loved the fan boy sound effects lol.
The fan boys didnt... lol
Do curado k and tatula with a 1oz plug
To the youtuber
--------------------------
The cast distance is affected by many factor , thumb action on spool, the wind factor , how efficient/hard you throw the cast , this is not proper way to test that, the result you show maybe bias, i dont know that, but judging from all comparison video you produce,i bet you shimano fanboy, bro get a machine to do the job, run them in closed place then see the result ,then the result is fair and ,
To the fanboy of any product
----------------------------------------------
it doesnt matter what brand you use,no brand are superior to each other, does't mean the cast distance is long that mean good , no no,the manufacture doesnt spend ton of dollar just to make a reel with long cast distance only, foundation of good reel is affected by many factor, rigidity, geographic factor, targated species, target audience and many more, and finaly dont insult other brand just because you have bad experience with the product, think of it as learning and it may not suit for you, remember that my friend
hafiz zahari this comment was a little tough to follow, but I feel like it’s exactly how I feel. Thanks hafiz
The important
thing is that you take these reels and fish them in saltwater for 2 years and tear them down and you will see more corrosion on the Curado jswhich is far more important than a few feet of casting distance
Good.
THE REEL TEST
Your funny!
Junior
Do you own one of the new Tatula 200’s? I would think that would be the closest competitor to the Curado K.
I have the original Type R. So basically the same thing
I own diawas and shimanos. Hands down, shimano is the superior reel manufacturer. Diawa makes great stuff. Spent alot of my hard earned money on diawa stuff. But shimanos are just bullet proof and have proven time and time again they are the bar for all other reel manufacturers.
The Diawa sv holds more line . So that could explain why the curado is casting a little farther
Daiwa is trash compared to Shimano.
** could explain why Curado is casting farther.
To each his own but I can’t really find a Shimano under $300 that cast as good as a Diawa SV or a lews BB1
Tatula all the way. I've got 2 of them both on Fenwick rods. It casts great easy to flip worms great reel. The Ugly Stick elite rod is junk. Guides are cheap .
Yep catch 50 fish on an ugly stick and your rod tip will look like you’ve took a knife file to it.
The “background “ sound track had me rolling on the floor! 😂🤣😂
Should you be using baitcast reels for light lures.......NO
Anyone who is under the impression that the Tatula SV is even kind of a finesse reel doesn’t know the first thing about what makes a reel suitable for lighter baits.
Can you please test the new lews pro ti
email Lews and tell them to send me one! I think it would do great in my testing
I will I’m one the edge of buying one but I would love to see how it casts first! Thanks for all the great videos
Here's the thing I have 6 tatulas 2 of which are sv's and 4 cts type R's they don't compare not only that but they just don't feel as smooth and the make nasty noises when they cast. this isn't just 1 it's all of them.
the retrieve on all my Tatulas is clunky. Makes alot of clunky sounds
@@THEREELTEST sure does!
I have 20 pound suffix 830 to advance super line on my Diawa sv Same reel you have in the video will that affect how far my Luer cast Because I’m ready to take it back for Shimano I love the Shimano reels Used to watch this guy had a show called hunt for the big fish like 13years ago And he swore by Shimano
,.,.,.?.?,.
Use them.you're welcome
No need to respond to negative feedback I think you do a good job
Thanks Gary, but shutting down fanboys is my specialty lol
Cái này có ship qua việt nam kg
This was one of the more annoying test videos I’ve ever seen. I don’t know what was worse, the music or the presenter saying fanboy every 5th word.
only fanboys get triggered at someone saying fanboy.... fanboy lol
No one buys the the tatula sv tw 1/8pz. It’s not a finesse reel, you should’ve thrown atleast 3/8oz
I agree. He used 6 pound line and a 1/8 oz. stick bait (of all things) to use for a casting test. He should be using a spinning rod and reel for such light line and lures. I guess he likes fishing for minnows with that set up.
He didn't know about that.. he just video maker..
The point is that is one of the hardest things for a baitcaster to get distance on and shows its true quality as a caster when you can use an 1/8ounce lure and get some distance, also shimano always wins!😂 always has and always will be btw I own both brands
Have both and love both. Almost impossible to get a backlash on either one.
I don’t like the thing you push to put in free spool on my old Lexa 300 and brothers tatula I like the tatula just hate the button
I live both reels, curado is use for distance casting while my sv for throwing under docks
I like the baby crying moment (I have 2 infants myself... hihi)
So you are basic telling us if we want to fish small fish shimano ,and if we want to fish big fish and want a stronger reel that daiwa is away
we have another mad triggered fanboy here lol
Hey! Shimanos have always been top notch.i own shimanos and 13 fishing reels and LEWS
I am happy that you give a non bias opinion, and give the information and stats to help the viewer come to thier own conclusions.
you are a wise man Adam. I have nothing against Daiwa but I love triggering their fanboys though lol
should test daiwa high spec reel...
Let me know when the 10k giveaway is. 😋
Oh shit, I didnt realize how close I was getting.. now I have to think up a contest lol.
I like the Tatula myself but I don't think it's " the best" by any means.
The nicest reel I own is my T3. I'd never pay that much for a reel but I got it as a birthday present.
I find casting distance way over rated anyway since it's easy to move my boat a few feet closer.
Nice video!
which reel has more line capacity? looking to purchase a new reel and line capacity is a major factor in whether im gonna buy it or not
does the tatula actually reduce backlashes as stated?
the Tatula holds more line.
Fan boy favorite. Love it! Hahahaha
Plz do 1/8 with Aldebaran MGL 30
I will eventually
What this is line?
6lb mono
If distance is all that someone wants out of their reel why isn't everyone using Abu Garcia 6500's? They are The King when it comes to distance casting.
Peace
I laughed my rear off😂...loved the cry baby sound effects...thanks for the laugh!!!
Easy win for the curado👍
the SV system is more for castability than farthest cast possible anyways......use a reel for you needs instead of what you want to use is the best way too go instead of fighting against its intended use
badzr2 this is straight from Daiwas website "TATULA SV TW's SV SPOOL is made of Super Duralumin which is lighter but has great strength. SV SPOOL with Air Brake System helps cast lightweight lures with ease to give you a longer cast with no back lash."
Ease of use is a selling point too not just a little farther cast in a controlled environment.....the person using it is the biggest variable
The tatula sv isn't made for finesse lures😂
It has the sv spool yeah it kind of is. Lighter spool made for lighter lures.
while you guys wasting your times watching these delusional videos. Someone else is working hard making money to buy a Daiwa Steez.
I'm a daiwa fan but I know curado can cast farther than tatulas
I am a shimano fan and I know the same thing, though, the tatula reels weirdly has some unbeatable control. And I don't know if I could say that shimano reels are more durable than tataulas. In my opinion you get equally good reels but in different ways if you buy one or the other.
Exactly they both have their own characteristics.
So I guess this means you are mad? lol
like that u gave the new rod a chance.
If you are talking about the Ugly Stik Elite, I wouldnt recommend it. Id rather get a cheap rod from china. They work better
that was savage!
I didn't expect that music lol
I have both they are both amazing reels
now try to use just a lead load and not a wobbler, then you get a fair test for daiwa tatula
bro are you mad?
The K is a good caster but since it’s a 200 size spool think it will have a hard time casting that weight! But it might not it’s a Shimano!
just wait till the next video bro lol
doesnt surprise me. i bought into the horseshit and picked up a JDM zillion SVTW, and it was the biggest hunk of of shit i have ever purchased . gave it a solid month of use, then sold it and threw my lews tor pro G back on until my scorpion was delivered.
im sure daiwa has some decent stuff, but im not a fan. felt chunky, clunky and heavy... only upside i see to daiwa is the huge amount of aftermarket parts available for them. sorry fanboys, the shimano stuff is just better IMO. always hated shimano bike gear in favor of SRAM, but dammit, they know how to make good fishing gear.
Chris Wargo I would say that daiwa and shimano are equal but in different ways. You must’ve been unlucky. Though, shimano is my go to brand!
Hahaha that jake guy deleted his comment from earlier. #shimanoalltheway
Haters will be haters, fan boys will be fan boys… who cares…
I'd like to see curado against a lews
I would have thought a 7 ft rod would get you more distance, that's the usual theory but like you say it was a better quality rod with better action in the tip. The only thing i was noticing with the Curado was every cast you kept going down in distance. My problem with the Curado 70 was when i put boca bearings in, it was over spinning too fast on really light lures with all brakes on full.
Fan boys, funny shit.. The Archery world is full of them.
the lol part killed me never do that again
lol, it's not even a fair comparison, tatula sv is good for skipping cast not to throw a long cast.
So I guess you are mad?
I have both of those reels but I like the curado
You should do a video on how to set up the tatula. I’m not really sure how to.
Daiwa recommends for the SV to set the spool tension to where there is just a small bit of side movement on the spool and just use the external mag dial for any adjustments
The best vidio
Offer 🧀 to go with their whine!
Oh! ニホンゴデオネガイシマース…
Abu black max 3 vs shimano bass one 👍😀
That darn crying baby again so that's not fair because the crying made the fan boys rod bend
The 70 is actually my all around favorite reel of all time.Unless im fishing heavy cover it's my go to.
I like the 70 but I dont love it. Lets hope they update is next year!
Oh man,I've been wanting them to for years!!!!! Thatd be a must buy,$200 is usually my limit on reels so I haven't used any high end reels but out of everything under $200 Its my favorite to use but I dont think I would choose it if I could only have one.
But thanks for the vids man this is hands down the most informative reel channel out there hands down and anytime someone is looking to purchase a new reel I always tell them to check out to your vids.thanks!
Here comes the: (You need to use a Diawa rod!!) lol
cant really judge by this who knows how hard you are casting them lol def no way to be the same for both
you mad bro? lol
Not at all I like both just being real
more like being a couch caster. go buy both reels, both rods, the measuring and recording equipment, go do the tests and show as much detail as I did then get back to me. The upload it on youtube so I can criticize it from my couch like you
That’s the whole point of comment session on TH-cam dumbass for people to right there feedback on what they think and I’m just stating the obvious
This was unexpected lol
DaiWAA 😭😭😭
😂😂
한손으로 잡기에너무넓어 도요나 바낙스에 비해 폭이 넓어 사용감이 불편함
Is this at sea level? 🤣
7ft not worth xtra $50.
$50? they are both $200
