FUDGE CHOCOLATE CROISSANT PUDDING
4 pain au chocolats or chocolate croissant100 g dark chocolate
300 ml milk
568 ml carton double cream
pinch freshly grated nutmeg
4 large egg yolks
170 g tube Carnation Condensed Milk
icing sugar, to dust
Grease a 2.4-litre ovenproof pudding dish.
Preheat the oven to 180C, 350 F, Gas Mark 4.
Cut each croissant into 3 pieces and arrange in the dish.
Place the chocolate in a saucepan with the milk, cream and nutmeg and heat gently until the chocolate has melted.
In a large bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and the condensed milk, and then gradually beat in the hot chocolate cream.
Pour the mixture over the croissants, press them down into the mixture and leave to stand for 1 hour.
Place the dish in a deep roasting tin and fill the tin with boiling water two-thirds up the side of the dish.
Bake for about 30 minutes or until just set & a bit wobbly.
Dust liberally with icing sugar.

You are a joy and your Vlogmas has made my December. One thing I have found that helps me focus is to plan my day so I do everything I need to do in the morning, all phone calls, emails, appointments etc. All done am, so I feel free to do what I want after lunch. It makes me feel free. Have a good 2024 everyone.

I am writing to you from Ottawa Ontario where had our first major storm, about a foot of snow on Friday the 12th. A perfect weekend for knitting and TH-cam.
I am so happy that you are back. 2023 was a difficult one for so many of us yet filled with blessings as well, if we can remember to stay present and in gratitude.
My word for 2023 was Grace and sometimes I had to dig deep to live life with gratitude and grace.
This year, my word is ‘Surrender’. I wish to focus on surrendering to the ebbs and flow of life, and not worry about that which I cannot control. I am sending you some of those wishes as well.

Thank you Kate for sharing vlogmas with us. It has been lovely spending time with you. Your socks are gorgeous and so pleased you have your love for knitting back. I think of you every time I go to my interchangeable needles. I followed your suggestion and got 2 small ring binders into which I put plastic zip wallets, one for each size of needle. They stay neat, tidy and easily accessible.
I smiled at your boxing day meal, we are the same in our family. Tick the box for Christmas day traditional dinner, then thoroughly enjoy the leftovers for the next few days - picky meals.

Happy New Year Kate ! I’ll be right along with you in 2024 focusing on my health. My journey started in October. I’m learning to live the Mediterranean lifestyle. So with all that hard work, my crafts, whatever they may be, are my rewards. The one good thing I have learned is to focus on the present so I can truly look forward to a happy and healthy future. I may not be a fast knitter, but I sure do enjoy the journey.

I lost focus some three years ago but just going outside and walking for 45/55 minutes helped with all areas in the morning, Eating foods which have 'good calories" and is nutritious helped me a lot with getting in a little fitter. All the best. Love listening to books as that forces me to concentrate.

Hi Kate, thanks for sharing your Vlogmas I think I’ve watched all of yours over the years and really enjoyed them. I’m with you and not making too many plans but just trying to focus on my physical and mental health this year .as for Knitting I think I’m just going to Knit, what I feel like when I feel like it because my focus is pretty poor at the moment, I’m blaming the onset of the menopause! Knitting still brings me joy and that’s the main thing.Happy New year .
I blame exactly the same thing for my lack of focus🙄but we’ll keep knitting to get through it….even if it’s only a few stitches at a time before the brain fog makes us forget what we’re doing…🤣🤣

The chosen socks are beautiful. You did those super fast. I too love Kay’s patterns. I took advantage of the sale as well. Random skein project is just up my alley. I have such beautiful sock sets and sock skeins and it is time to use them. That will be my project for this year.
Happy New Year. I try not to male too many plans and just go with the flow. Maybe that is an age thing. This year though I have a wedding to look forward to. My youngest Grand daughter gets married in March. I am looking forward to seeing all those socks get done. I might get a few made in 2024 x

The bandwagon very rarely stops at my house - I see it go by, but I get distracted enough. If I dropped things to start the latest I imagine I would have even less done. Kind of the same reason that short knit a longs don't work out for me - they aren't clued in to what I'm already doing! Just have fund with your knits this year.

Every year I use a planner and I am not one to use anything fancy. It has been a part of my life for many, many years.
You have a lovely bodhran on your side table. Can you tell us about it and do you play?
Thank you! I love the bodhran but unfortunately cannot play. This one was given to me by a friend and I love the look of it. Unfortunately it has damage so cannot be played.

How many stitches per inch do you get in your socks? I try so hard to get 8, but can’t get smaller than 7. And I use a size 0 needle and co 56 sts. I have a size 9 foot with bunions!
Usually I get 9 on a 2.5 mm needle, 64 stitches. I’ve been trying a 2.75mm lately, same stitch count and am getting 7.5 stitches. So far they seem a better fit.
