27:22 Ishinomori just kinda loved taking the piss out the Fuhrer camp. And this isn't even the most overt, that one famous episode of Kamen Rider X takes that cake.
Yeah, I like JAKQ. I even just broke down and preordered their new Super Shodo figure. But, the show has major flaws due to the tonal changes. I mean, the original vision for JAKQ makes sense. it is similar to how Ultraman did the same thing with UltraSeven being a more serious follow up to the original Ultraman's campiness. I really wish JAKQ's original tone was kept. Hell Daichi was hurt the most here. he went from being this scientist, who died, and had the tragic "my family is dead" back story. To being an idiot that's obsessed with his looks and girls. It is pretty funny how history repeated itself with MMPR season 2. With the whole bringing back a popular actor from the first season to become a new white ranger. Who admittedly steals the lead role and demotes the Red Ranger.
in Dairanger one of the main villains was a kid, said kid got killed twice in the show. JAKQ wasn't the only time a kid got explicitely killed but it was no doubt a first. I would also mention certain villains from Jetman and GoGo-V but they are aged up at a certain point of the show.
The serious tone of JAKQ was the reason it got low ratings, Gorenger got a lot of children viewership with its goofy monsters and colorful main cast, plus the ridiculous and extravagant fights, JAKQ, on the other hand, tried to be more serious and down to earth, maybe as an attempt to get more teenagers and adults to watch it, but probably didn't work as intended since most of the children tuned off of the show. This had happened before to Toei when they aired Kamen Rider Amazon, that show also tried to be more adult to try and give a fresh air to the declining franchise but did actually worse than the previous KR show and got cancelled at only 24 episodes. Later on the writers would find a good balance between light hearted and serious tone for their shows ofc and JAKQ and Amazon remain as examples of how not to reinvent growing franchises.
JAKQ wished it had streaming of some kind it may have helped hehe we also just need more stuff like this its neat since TV blocks are not the whole deal nowadays
When I watched the show, I definitely felt the disparity and the show clearly being cut into three pieces. The first is the dark spy detective kind of show that was honestly pretty dang good. The second was the lighter more kid-focused one. Which, wasn't bad, just heavy tonal whiplash. And then once Big One showed up, it was all over. The rest of the team got sidelined for the rest of the season.
Apparently the reason a sudden romance between Sakurai and Karen happened was because their actors became a couple during the show's production and I guess this was included to give their characters something to do in the finale. As for Michi Love herself I will never forget the episode of Toei's Spiderman she was in. She was a very memorable guest villain, one that makes you wish she became a recurring character. Someone who did appear in multiple episodes though, surprise, surprise, was Hiroshi Miyauchi.

Even in the west at the time it was common for Captain America to fight literal nazis in the comics and stuff like that, it was only later that this sorta of thing became more taboo.

Another sentai where the green ranger isn’t that memorable compared to the other Rangers. Do you think there’s going to be better Green Rangers in the future ?
I am one of the few people who really enjoys J.A.K.Q all the way through. It's flawed and kinda shit in some aspects (Shine, how the show uses big one, the one note of the Rangers and the shafted clover king) but I still regardless enjoyed most of the episodes and the suits were awesome. Big one is also a really cool character and I even added him to my dream team of sixths after watching the show. So ye, whenever I'm asked for the show that is kinda shit but I love regardless to me, it's JAKQ Dengekitai.
46:03 exactly my main problem with the Big One, which is the reason why I consider him the worst sentai character ever put on screen period. I have no friggin' idea why Toei decided that the new recruit had to be the black hole sucking everything around him, maybe it was because Miyauchi was a popular actor back in the day but still it was a really bad idea overall. All of the sudden a show about the JAKQ Dengekitai turned to be a show about the Big One featuring the JAKQ Dengekitai as supporting characters, it makes literally no sense whatsoever. Besides, Miyauchi or not, the quality of the writing had decreased nonetheless, they were recycling stuff previously seen in the 70's Kamen Rider with the hope that it would have turned their fortunes good and, guess what, it didn't.

Can’t find any info about Hirohisa Soda, so I wonder what makes him so I’m infamous in the sentai fandom.
Hint: it's about his shows
Hirohisa Soda was the main writer for sentai from goggle v to fiveman stepping away from the franchise in jetman and returning to write some episodes in kakuranger etc he made a lot of changes to the sentai formula while he didn't perfect it he still contributed a lot to how a modern sentai looks like
20:58 WHAT BOMB
Oh yeah, that
Where can I obtain a JAKQ DVD? I've been looking for one for a while but haven't been able to find one online. If anyone has any leads I'd be grateful. 🙏
I really loved the JAKQ series despite it's low ratings.
...okay, is it just me or does Joker look like Peter Cullen?
Huh.
Kumalink are you going to make anymore sentai retrospectives?
You bet! Already started on Sun Vulcan, but I need to wait until I get my PC back before I can keep working on it.
日本打ち切りでしたが、ジャッカー電撃隊サイボーグは外国人には人気あります❤
Another sentai where the green ranger isn’t that memorable compared to the other Rangers. Do you think there’s going to be better Green Rangers in the future ?
16:56 pause 🗿
I am one of the few people who really enjoys J.A.K.Q all the way through. It's flawed and kinda shit in some aspects (Shine, how the show uses big one, the one note of the Rangers and the shafted clover king) but I still regardless enjoyed most of the episodes and the suits were awesome. Big one is also a really cool character and I even added him to my dream team of sixths after watching the show.
So ye, whenever I'm asked for the show that is kinda shit but I love regardless to me, it's JAKQ Dengekitai.
i dont know how old you are but life used to not be so censored especially in Japan
47:52 Did you mean George Reeves Superman?
I like daichi
Showing the symbol wasnt really a big deal I think especially since it doesnt really just belong to the Nazis.
