This series is probably my favorite tokusatsu series period This is probably recency bias but this series reminded why I love tokusatsu in every single aspect The characters, the action, the suits, the music, the story, the villains, and especially the finale This series has flaws but so does every toku king ohger is probably gonna be impossible to top because it’s got a special place in my heart.
So many stories will use a 'morally grey' character to do all the hard work setting up the win just so the hero can decry them as a villain who went too far but still use what they did to win with clean hands. It's such lazy writing, borderline cowardly at times, but Ohger nails it. Racles was treated as a noble man who suffered greatly and tarnished his soul to play the long game for his people and was given his time to atone for what he did. King Ohger, a weekly tv show made to sell toys to children, is writing circles around hollywood. It's wild.
King-Ohger is the epitome of Ambition. Not everything was gonna be great or consistent, but everything else from characters to story made up for everything. You gotta give respect for how these guys wrote this show, created the world, and made it huge, expansive, and creative.

We seen teams with responsibilities before but my favorite aspect of the show is how each character was a real leader of their situation, most sentai shows do feel like the civilians lifes of their character doesnt matter at all. They having a whole kingdom each to think about(well sorta wish bugnaroks got a little more personality or a few more monsters to do important jobs like Gerojim´s spying).
Ambition is a good way of putting it. This one had ideas and scope that other sentai shows haven't explored. It doesn't go as far as it _could_ or even _implies_ it could, but it's still digs deeper than most. And that's something that should be celebrated. It could get new series to try something different instead of stick to the same format. Getting them out of their comfort zone is a great way to make memorable series.
King-Ohger... man, where do I even start? Oh, yes! This is the first Sentai I have seen on a weekly basis, meaning I FULLY watched this series and no skipping episodes. That's how PEAK the show is and while I love the first half more, the overall show is well thought out. Sure, the virtual environment may be hit or miss, but for me, I think they did well with the budget that they had to work with. So many great stuff happened, from the suits, action and characters. I just love their chemistry and I don't know who agrees with me, but King-Ohger... is actually my FAVOURITE Sentai of all time.
Not a fan of body swap episodes either, but this body swap episode was a major highlight for me because it showed how strong the chemistry of the actors had become. It’s like Nicholas Cage pretending to be John Travolta pretending to be Nicholas Cage in Face Off. They captured each other’s personalities so well to a degree I’d never seen before, which just speaks to the strength of these characters and their actors. Yamna’s my favorite blue ranger, Himeno’s my favorite yellow ranger, etc.
I’m trying to get more into Super Sentai and I’ve always been into Power Rangers since I was a kid (I’m 21 now) but I’ve been watching your videos a lot lately because your analysis of these shows is is so interesting. The Geoffrey the Giraffe cameo at the end of episode 36 is most out of nowhere cameo I've ever seen and will be living rent free in my head for as long as I live.
I thought the being turned into children was because they were specifically aged back 10 years hence why Kaguragi appears the same as he did in the wrath of the gods flashback due to him being older than the rest of the king-ohgers (although that then brings up the question of why Jeramie was turned into a child despite being 2000+ years old)

Anyone else notice parallels between the fictional nations in King-Ohger and the real life countries in our world? Shugoddam = United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (When you think of Monarchies, you tend to think of the UK, since it's one of the most well-known, plus, there are many similarities to the real life UK. Like how the fact that the kingdom's color is red, which is similar to the dress uniforms of the British Army, AKA: "Redcoats", sometimes called "Lobsterbacks". Also, King Rcules shares many similarities to the real life King George III, since he, like Rcules, was known for being a mad man and full of himself, and because of his insanity, he had to have his son George IV act as regent for him before the latter was officially crowned as King following the former's death, which is similar to Gira taking over from his brother Rcules. Also, it was a leader on the world stage prior to the US, and so, it makes sense for it to be the Red Ranger's nation, since it's usually the team leader in Super Sentai/Power Rangers.) N'Kosopa = United States of America (Both countries are republics, in contrast to the other nations, which are monarchies. Plus, N'Kosopa is also very technologically advanced and financially well-off, similar to how the US is the most powerful country in the world, and has led the world in technological advancements. And the fact that its main color is blue is also a good parallel, since the US Army's dress uniforms are blue, which contrast with the British. Also, fitting that Rcules kind of parallels George III since he ruled the UK during a time when the US and UK were bitter rivals, which I guess makes Yanma Gast this world's Thomas Jefferson, since he was a vocal critic of the UK, and also was a supporter of technological advancements, similar to Yanma.) Ishabana = The Netherlands (Its landscape is very similar to the Dutch countryside, with the rainbow tulips and windmills being all over the place, and also, it having a robust healthcare also parallels The Netherlands having Universal Healthcare. Also Hymeno Ran's suit has an orange cape, which, parallels the Royal Family of the Netherlands having the name of "Orange-Nassau", and the color is actually very popular in The Netherlands.) Gokkan = Russia (The country's climate is very frosty and cold, which is basically how it is in Russia, as they've long used the winter to their advantage to drive their enemies back, such as in the Napoleonic Wars and World War II. Also, it's the most authoritarian out of all of them, which is pretty much how Russia's been for most of its history, whether under the Romanovs, the Soviet Union, or the current oligarchy it's under. It also seems to have collective leadership, meaning that it's pretty much in the Soviet-phase of its history, though, it's also very likely a dictatorship, which again, is what the Soviet Union was like.) Toufu = Japan (It's very clearly modeled after feudal Japan, the same landscape, the same style of leadership, the same clothing, the same everything. It's also less advanced than the others, which is true to how Japan was isolated from the rest of the world, and didn't nearly advance as much until the US started trading with them, and the Meiji Restoration occured in the mid-19th century.)
I'd say this series was a really good prototype for future sentai shows going forward. Hopefully, they'll continue to get more ambitious and not fall back into the same formulas as past years.

That's because of writer. The writer who wrote king-ohger is actually wrote many popular j-dramas before king-ohger. When he get offer from producer to write king-ohger. He planned to write king-ohger as mature season not a childish season.
I do agree with your criticisms of last minute reveals of the villains being heroic. Whenever I see a villain reveal at the last minute that they were heroic or had noble goals all along, I'm like 'Where's the foreshadowing?' Almost always it's just an excuse for the writers to either redeem a villain they like, or just be like here's your new favorite anti-hero, without having it make sense why that character is an anti hero. I remember watching the show Miraculous Ladybug and they introduce Felix, who's made to be a total wild card. He sides against our main heroes, but he clearly hates the main villain Hawkmoth/Shadow Moth. Later on he steals some magic jewelry that grant powers from the heroes and offers to exchange all the ones he has for one that Hawkmoth has, except this contradicts a previous motivation he'd had about hating abusive parents like Hawkmoth, and gives Hawkmoth the ability to hurt more people. Then Felix basically wipes out the whole world save himself and two other people, only to fix things, and kept a girl he likes, after previously trying to force a kiss on another girl, only for him to be redeemed because lazy writing.

DO YOU HEAR THAT!? felix in taht show did bad shit and yet he is rewarded about it as for gabriel he was once simpatetic bit the writters screw him up But with kingoher is not the same, there where 3 episodes taht expained deathnarock's motivations, and he explained that bugnarocks where hated by humans for no damn reason and kamijin has been cordonating this hate between humans and bugnarocks for centuries, and you can see the scene between deasnarock and the little spider, and also the fact he spared gira instead of killing him, on how he apologise to terra, he was mad this way because of the humans persieving him as such, jeramie also fells guilty about it witch is why his finamic with deasnarak is so impactfull, in fact jeramie is the humanity within the bugnarock
I think I'll have to disagree, it works because racles plays a major role in the plot, and that gira spoke about racles being a whole different person in the past, so what changed? It was never explained. While I was watching the show I could barely wrap my head around what exactly he was planning other than controlling everything, and having all the power, his true goal was vague until he finally strikes dugded.

I think Macro won't include Donbrother and Kyuranger crossover movie because they had a cameo, so those don't count. Also, the upcoming future crossover movies won't be released on blu ray until October. It might happen next year if Macro wants to redo it again.

this show is the closest super sentai ever got to that kamen rider aura. its basically better saber and i already like saber. so i love this show. especially my usual favorite- our blue punk! TONE-boi theres alsoa dj edm producer toneboy irl so i thought it was neat.

Part 1 was an amazing foundation of this serialized world. Racules was a truly terrifying and despicable antagonist, the plots were truly engaging. Yet every thing had to be a messy trainwreck in the second half. It reminds me of Hibiki in a sense do i hate King-Ohger? absolutely not Its in my top 10 but not higher than top 6
This was great and all but hot zam watching this was confusing ah especially as someone coming from power rangers suddenly jumping to super sentai. I have no idea what was happening till dino charge shows up then i for some reason waited for dino thunder to show up(bc dinosaurs)
That was fast. It’s very early for you to do a series review for a new series especially for sentai and not rider. Surprise this isn’t a 2-3 hours review. The show is ambitious, but it’s weird that they went overboard with the cgi and led screen. They didn’t create enough original setting. Sometimes, they don’t need to spend time polish cgi if they actually film some scenes in a practical set. Don’t think they need built all of them especially the simpler ones. They can even use edo period set or real country side scenery.
Throughout its run i saw a lot of ppl saying King-ohger was a different Sentai, and you even recommend watching Ch 2 instead of the video. It seems that many ppl were able to watch but i dont know how to subbed. I'd like to support official channels if possible, but where?

Rita was the best character followed by Dybowski. Both had the least amount of face time in my opinion but I they knew their role and over delivered.

Sentai Guren Lagann. 🔥 Even after a few downs, King Ohger is together with Kyuranger my favourit sentai. Maybe I have a thing for cosmic sentai.
Convince me otherwise, but King-Ohger is staying in first place of my Top 10 because of 3 reasons:
1. The plot is so fucking good
2. Racules was a great antagonist, and a great actor too
3. Gira is probably the best main character I've ever seen, and I'd care less what you guys think

I think Macro won't include Donbrother and Kyuranger crossover movie because they had a cameo, so those don't count.
Also, the upcoming future crossover movies won't be released on blu ray until October. It might happen next year if Macro wants to redo it again.

this show is the closest super sentai ever got to that kamen rider aura. its basically better saber and i already like saber. so i love this show. especially my usual favorite- our blue punk! TONE-boi

@@denysvision not much to do ive learned to forgive the imperfections cause like i like decade and hibiki and ghost- those have issues i just like their big moments more than their worst. so who knows if the challenges and changed didnt happen it could be alot more peoples favorite- but i feel like if the criticism implies you wish you could like it as much, then you prolly like it atleast a lil. so now i assume im just making it sad feeling if i think of its flaws as dragging down rather than just a scuffed knee on a 9 yo who will most likely grow up to have mostly fine knees.

Part 1 was an amazing foundation of this serialized world. Racules was a truly terrifying and despicable antagonist, the plots were truly engaging. Yet every thing had to be a messy trainwreck in the second half. It reminds me of Hibiki in a sense

This was great and all but hot zam watching this was confusing ah especially as someone coming from power rangers suddenly jumping to super sentai. I have no idea what was happening till dino charge shows up then i for some reason waited for dino thunder to show up(bc dinosaurs)

That was fast. It’s very early for you to do a series review for a new series especially for sentai and not rider. Surprise this isn’t a 2-3 hours review. The show is ambitious, but it’s weird that they went overboard with the cgi and led screen. They didn’t create enough original setting. Sometimes, they don’t need to spend time polish cgi if they actually film some scenes in a practical set. Don’t think they need built all of them especially the simpler ones. They can even use edo period set or real country side scenery.
