Really loved my Clifton 9's but I do wish they would improve the foam. After 150 miles or so they began to feel dead or packed out. I ended up moving to the Asics Novablast 4 and a the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 for my daily and speed shoes, but I do find myself missing the Clifton. In fact.... I'm going to buy another pair as a daily and recovery shoe. They just fit the "daily driver" role so well and the low drop with the rocker are great. Nice review of the shoe!
Good review! I've been using the Clifton since the first version and I've done several marathons and Ironmans in them. However, I've switched over to other shoes this year that I think perform better for the same price range. As others have mentioned, this shoe starts to feel "dead" after a short while. They're still in my shoe rotation and I'll wear them for my long easy runs.
Had the Clifton 3 or 4. That felt like it had memory foam rather than performance foam. Also had issues with Rincons and Speedgoats feeling dead at/around 100 miles. I hope the foam is improving because the Hoka fit has always been good (sometime with wide fit). Thanks, Chad. Always appreciated! Almost want to apologize for missing a few videos - busy trial schedule the last month! Enjoy your Sunday. 😁
Hi Chad! New subscriber. Thanks for this review. So I have a very narrow foot. Any idea about a good trail shoe for me? I’m currently in Brooks Cascadia and Hoka Mafate/Speedgoats. Thanks for great content. 😊
I'm glad you came across the channel and appreciate you for subscribing as well! I'll be reviewing the Hoka Speedgoat 6 and Brooks Catamount 3 & Caldera 7 hopefully in the very near future. I also have a narrow to average foot and have recently enjoyed the Salomon Genesis, VJ MAXx2, and surprisingly the Topo MTN Racer 3.
I was pretty excited to have the opportunity to test and review these. I should be receiving the Speedgoat 6 too once they get more inventory. I'm looking forward to that shoe as well!
Durability is bad. I have 300 km in it and it looks and feels like a 500 km shoe. Besides that, very good daily trainer. It is below Novablast 3 and 4 in terms of performance and durability.
It would do fine, and perhaps better than other road shoes with a much smoother outsole. I've seen a couple gravel specific shoe releases including the Craft Xplor (review on my channel) and the Salomon DRX DEFY GRVL (I'm trying to get a pair for review). Hope that helps!
Appreciate your feedback! I didn't have a single issue with heel lock and thought it was great. It always amazes me how two different people will have such a different experience in the same shoe. Hope you're crushing your goals!

I just got these, thanks for reviewing. Can’t wait to test
Great review thanks. How does it compare to Brooks Ghost Max? I run in custom orthotics (high arches). Cheers
I haven't ran in the Brooks Ghost Max so unfortunately I can't compare it.
One of the better and more accurate reviews of the Clifton 9.Well done, great info. Nice colourway too👍
Thank you my friend! Appreciate the comment and for you watching the video.

Great review as always Chad! I was actually in the market for some new Hoka Roadies to this may have just helped me out at the right time!
Make sure you pick up a fun color!
@@SeeChadRun I’m all for good flamboyant shoes!!!
Nice - glad to see you in Hoka! :)

Nice review, Chad! Those Cliftons are a solid all around shoe!

Appreciate the insight!
is clifton 9 good for gravel roads?

My biggest complaint about this show is the padding in the heel! ZERO heel grip compared to Brooks especially

Heel works ok for me too
Morning 😂😂
