First of all I wanna thank you for putting on this exciting kind of a Trail-Run-Review-Story. Second but not least for your honesty. Me: after these insides I would really like to wear and test this shoes on varied terrain by myself. By the way I had the very first edition of the Caldera. And I made over 700 miles - I mean Quality-Miles - in them. They were one of my favorites. I think maybe they are made to run miles and miles and miles.. and you have to go more used to them… only if you like… as you mentioned.
Add Chad great review as always and I just love the views of where you run. Breathtaking. Chad I wondered how much do you think brand loyalty plays a part in our shoe purchasing decisions? Ian 🇬🇧
I think for many, brand loyalty is a huge part of their purchasing decision. I find myself being loyal to some brands because I simply trust them and/or I have an idea of what to expect from that brand. Predictability of expectations is pretty important even when we don't realize it... You wouldn't go to your favorite fast food restaurant if the food was always different or the experience fluctuated too much.
@@SeeChadRun Hi Chad thank you for taking the time to reply. Yes I agree and I don’t it’s confined to just the product I think it applies to TH-camrs as well. There are some TH-camrs ( like yourself) that I trust more than others and am more likely to consider buying a shoe reviewed by you than I am by someone else. Either way running shoes are so expensive these days that 1. I’m not buying many and 2 my older shoes are lasting longer !
Hey Chad...I have the Caldera 6...and have exactly the same thoughts on that one! Really wanted to love it but just wasn't enough of anything going on. Plus, it pinched a little and gave me small blisters on the balls of my feet. Seems like the Caldera 7 is similar. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Really appreciate you sharing your thoughts and experience as well. I was beginning to think that I was a little crazy for not loving an otherwise great shoe.
Greetings from Poland, US! I discovered the Brooks Caldera 7 a few weeks ago and needed more cushioning than the Inov-8 G300 Max for very long distances. In Poland, we have a lot of mixed terrain: forest paths, mud in autumn and dry and hard trails in summer. This shoe seems very versatile and gives good rebound as well as protection in all terrain, stability and comfort. It's a superb shoe thanks to the nitrogen foam. For now, it's my favourite shoe for long distances and long weekend workouts. It's not a shoe for very fast half-marathon and marathon rtrial-unning, but if someone has a strong leg it will also fly at a 4:00 / km pace :)
@@SeeChadRun Indeed, we have :) But all world is wonderful, all mountains are different, all country has different climate and micro-culture. Check this out a short summary about Ultra Lemkowyna Trail on 150km distance - very popular and hard long-run in Poland, it starts every year in Autumn. The next edition is starting in two weeks, and I'll be there on my tested Brooks Caldera 7 :) th-cam.com/video/LHSbFW05FVw/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/W92UN4Et3l0/w-d-xo.html We invite you to Poland :)
@@ValentinBuneev I bought a second pair :) The shoe is really great. The tread wears off quite quickly, but apart from that the shoe hasn't deteriorated. I've got quite a hundreds kilometres done - it's great for slow running in the mountains and for fast 70km at competitions. I did 150km in it 4 weeks ago, 23h on my feet (after 80km I changed to a size bigger) and I have no problems with my feet in this shoe. The nitrogen-foam cushioning in this shoe is really cool.
I'm glad you asked as that's one thing I failed to mention in the video. I would not rate the toe box as wide or super narrow... It's " average". However, there's still not a lot of volume in the toe box as I feel it might be lacking in the amount of height available. For my average to narrow foot, the toe box felt just fine. Additionally, the length of the shoe fits true to size. Hope that makes sense and helps.
@@SeeChadRun Hey thanks for the reply. It def makes sense and helps a lot. The shoes look more stable, which I like, but my feet are borderline hobbit feet so I gotta try these on first to be sure. Thanks again!
Brooks has a bit of a recent track record for playing it a little safe with their lineup progression. I think there's recently new leadership at the company, though.

Hi.
How is their (Caldera 7) durability/strength today?

Thank you! Sometimes it's a difficult balance between sharing the technical facts and how the shoe makes you feel.

Was on this trail yesterday training for Blue Sky! Also, Brooks trail running shoes have always been a miss for me.
Nice! I recorded this yesterday too. Were you running with someone? I think you may have been just behind me running back to the trailhead.
@@SeeChadRun Yes! Running with my good friend Michelle Flenner who is training for her first 100 miler.
