    Very inspiring videos! Your channel is great and I love your choice of fabrics! I'm in the US and it's great to see someone else's take and recommendations other than the big 4 companies.

    Hello Kristen, I really admire how you are not afraid to give any pattern ago. I have to say I’m rather hesitant to try patterns that I feel are out of my comfort zone. I have tried some of these in the past but become frustrated with myself when I ‘muck up!’ I love your self quilted jacket. It looks amazing! I also love receiving your vlogs, especially being here in Australia. I do follow up on the Australian sites you suggest to give my support. 🌹

    Love the cropped version of the top. You nailed it with that broach. It is amazing how just a small thing like a broach can have such a big impact. It doesn’t hurt that you have again chosen the perfect fabric! Beautiful job!

      Oh thank you so much! As soon as I saw that fabric I knew it would be perfect! The Koi Fish just helps finish it!

    I have made two Sienna Maker Jackets...the cropped version. One was in corduroy so great over Winter and the second in a beautiful textured bengaline. This is a lighter weight and one great for the cooler mornings/evenings.

    Your pattern and fabric matching are inspirational. The first jacket especially so! Re the jacket with the quilting, I loved your idea and examples of patch working it...love to see you do that...I haven't dipped my toe into quilting or patchwork yet...

    I love the short version of the overlap jacket - the fabric you used is beautiful! All of the patterns are great - some great ideas to bookmark for the future :)

    Another great blog. Love jackets, it's a bit unfortunate in Cairns we don't have much opportunity. Will have to make one of these lighter ones though. Happy sewing. 😄🌈

      Definitely a light Kimono shaped jacket would be nice in a floaty fabric !

    Brilliant vlog, I’ve make several Overlap Jackets, they are brilliant made in a fleece for slouching in, I even lengthened the pattern to midi length and ‘lined’ it x

    The overlap jacket is exactly what I wore to do martial arts, aikido to be exact, in white. I also wore a black version at the Zen Center. However what you did with it is lovely. I would not make it in back or white.

    I love the box blazer! But I think I would bring up the shoulders a bit since I feel like I look better without drop shoulders.

    Love your vlog. I have 1 metre of boiled wool left over from a tatb Eden coat. Are there any jackets I could squeeze out of that?

    Do you print the indie patterns at home on A4 paper or do you send them to a company for printing? How expensive is the printing. I am such a dinosaur and have stuck with the printed commercial patterns but need to embrace change.

    • @thedahliasewciety
      @thedahliasewciety  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, yes I print them A4 on my printer after downloading them. Then you have a plan to follow how to stick it together, ther are also many tutorials on youtube. Or you can use the AO style plan pattern and have it printed for you and that saves time but its a bit pricier. Here in Aus its around $8 a pattern to print.

    Why do you refer to it as a "beatnick jacket" I was a beatnick in the 60ties and didnt wear anything like that. Maybe worn by some who were not real beatnicks.

    • @thedahliasewciety
      @thedahliasewciety  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Yes, the designer of the jacket has used her inspiration from the 1980s style Beatnik which was certainly very different from the original 60s version but with similar elements. I remember in the 80s Beatnik “style” jackets very similar to this pattern being worn with Doc Martens boots and velvet and plaid trims. I think every time that fashion re visits itself it’s like a cycle and it’s slightly differs every time. It’s so interesting watching my kids wear things that I wore 20 years ago I thought would never re emerge 😃
